To put it into perspective: Sony expects to sell 100 million units. Even a billion in costs would only tack on a tenner on each of those and that's only if they intend to make the money back on the console itself instead of the games or accessories.

I'd say that since Sony only requires 7 of the 8 SPEs to be operational they're going to buy up the Cells that have slight errors in them and those might be cheaper than fully operational 8 SPE Cells.

I'd like additional clauses for not taking infringements upon the patent to court (or granting a license) that end the patent immediately if no action is taking at most a year after an infringement has become known, for not using or licensing a patent to someone who uses it for a timespan immediately ending the patent (so you can't use it to block further development, it has to be used in some way or it is ended, maybe even declared useless and as such invalid) and a clause that dishes out heavy fines to anyone who sues over patent infringement and the court finds the patent to be invalid (along with a pay cut for whoever okayed that). Abuse of the patent system should be a crime because it is used frequently to hurt those who can't afford to mount a legal defense.

While you're not as fast you can do much quicker turns in real life than in a game that uses analog stick control because you can turn at speeds that would be disorienting in a game. You know how far you turned in real life because your body can easily detect that but if you were to turn with the same speed with an analog stick you wouldn't know how far you turned. With a mouse you can know how far you turned from the distance you moved the mouse.

Analog sticks are more like controlling a robot or a tank, the mouse is closer to moving a human.

All good games that are worthy of competitive gaming have multiple strategies that can work and each has its advantages and faults. Zerg rushes may work most of the time but when your enemy is prepared and destroys your attack you are vulnerable and lack ressources, which is usually fatal. If a game has only one strategy that has a chance at succeeding it's a bad choice for pro gaming.

I've wasted a few hours with another korean MMO called Flyff, they had the same idea with healing items, you could have any number of them and use them as much as you want. As a result, players put almost no stat points into stamina because all they needed to survive was one hit, after that you could spam healing items to survive the next hit. Can you imagine how much crying there was when the developers introduced a two or three second delay between potion uses around Christmas? It was done primarily for PvP so people wanted PvP removed again just so they could keep spamming healing items.

Make the healing shorten downtimes but don't let it become a big factor during combat.

And while we're at it, when potions are dirt cheap and trivial to get, wouldn't it be better to just give players a very high regeneration rate out of combat (like Guildwars does)? If you expect people to maintain huge stockpiles of them anyway and that doesn't cause any real cost, why do you make people run to the store to get new potions? Trivial aspects of a game should be automated or eliminated because anything that can be done without putting effort into it and without challenge is just unnecessary work.
