    Yes, but it's not a useful standby mode. As soon as it comes out of standby it'll close the relay and expect to find external power. If it's unplugged there's no external power.

    Unfortunately the article was uninformative regarding the source of the mined data. It's also presumably harder for any randomly selected American to be stuck on the list than it is for anyone from a Middle Eastern country.

    IIRC Senator Ted Kennedy was on the no fly list at one point.

    Everything except your final statement was good, at my prior workplace we designed control modules that allowed diesel generators to run in parallel with each other or with the grid.

    The technology to do that is decades old and has been implemented by many different genset manufacturers.

    An indicator was briefly shown which read 2465RPM. That's faster than normal on most gensets, so it may be that they simply removed the overspeed limits on the engine controller.

    Of course as several other people have already pointed out crash paralleling the genset (closing the main breaker when the generator and the utility are out of phase) would also result in the destruction of the generator.

    I have been told that crash paralleling a genset can (rarely) result in the entire engine flipping over on its side.

    For simple variations on english printing look at Palm's Graffiti system and the many other alphabets used for PDAs.

    What these alphabets do is remove as much of the ambiguity as possible from printed charactors.

    There's a quicker way to solve this. Wrap the cloth around a cone and the bit where you get words tells you the size of the original rod.
