    Nobody would pay for that. They'd look out the window instead.

    The question is paying for quantified data from entire regions and predictions.

    Our tax money is used for the collection of much of this data and that (if nothing else) ought to be freely available.

    I once had a friend who was a psychology major. She asked me, "How can you study computer science when there are children out there being abused, and women out there being raped?"

    Because computer science makes our lives better and thus reduces the likelyhood of child abuse and rape. (This argument only works if she accepts the argument that poverty and/or unhappiness increases the likelyhood of that sort of depravity.)

    For most people the distinction makes no differance. They only know (or care) about the fact that they can't do what they want with MythTV.

    The pcHDTV card doesn't AFAIK receive analog broadcasts. So if you want both in your PC you need another card.

    I have lost *ONE* file on floppy disks. That's all. Just one. I realize that I may have been more than a little bit lucky.

    Granted, floppies are by far the least reliable storage method that is commonly available today, but they are still highly reliable.

    Of course I deliberatly chose my digital camera and MP3 player so that they support the USB mass storage mode, so they are my new floppies. (A pen drive is only usable as a pen drive, might as well pay a few bucks extra and get an MP3 player instead.)

    You should always have a backup that can be restored without relying on some other company's schedule.

    Just make it radio control via some highly unusual method. For instance, you could "transmit" data by intermittantly jamming GPS signals, and as your bot already has a GPS receiver no one would be the wiser.
