When things like this go on, what you want is wishful thinking. "Our officer used appropriate force in a dangerous situation." and the guy they shot was sleeping (and the wrong guy)
Yeah, they can immediately see what they can arrest you for,
as we all are guilty of breaking some law. All they have to do is link everything you did to the laws and they will find something. At least enough to find a reason to trow away your rights.
Part of the text below. Read it all on the link above.
If I had undeniable proof of the existence of Yahweh, aka Jehovah, aka Adonai, aka El Shaddai, aka Yahweh Elohim, the father of Jesus and the ancient leader of the Semitic peoples, I still would not worship the bastard. If an angel appeared to me and removed my appendectomy scar so I could never deny the reality of divine power, I still would not be a Christian. My primary reason for not being a Christian or Jew has nothing to do with my lack of belief in their god. My primary reason is that the Bible is a disgusting book describing the behavior of a god without the morality of an average high school student.
That God does what he wants, when he wants, without even an attempt at self-justification, and all for what reason? According to Paul, all for his own greater glory. Oh, how charming. For his own glory he condemns billions to eternal torment, drowns millions of innocent beasts and thousands of children, orders the slaughter of entire cities down to the last man, woman, and child, creates a race that he knows is flawed and will hurt itself (so that in their pain they can worship him better), refuses to deal with any other god on a friendly basis, restricts the normal expression of the sexual function, rains doom on those who dare to try to be as knowledgable as he is, and so on.
Indeed I do not know if it can run the hurdles. I do not know the rules. Are you required to jump the hurdles, or can you run under them or even through them by pushing them over? If so, it would be possible, because the fact that they can not jump them becomes irrelevant.
As seen here, we see already different answers. to one question. These vary from yes to no. If the answer is yes, does that mean that the people who answer no are not human?
And just like the computer, I answered that I did not know. Am I a computer?
Where it would become interesting is if you start asking joke questions. e.g. Q: It is green and if it falls out of a tree, you are dead. What is it? A: A pool table
Q: What is the difference between a parakeet? A: Both legs are the same length, especially the right one.
And humor is not even easy for humans to understand. What I learned when learning a new language is that there are several levels. (Very generic. 1) Cursing 2) Ordering things. Telling where you are from and where you go 3) Work related conversation or subjects that you are familiar with 4) Reading the newspaper (As it is written for a majority of people) 5) Advanced discussion on any subject 6) Understanding the jokes (Does not mean you must think they are funny.)
I would say computers are now at level 2 and the question was a level 5 question. The step between 2 and 3 is not that small. step 2 is repeating things. Step 3 is also listening and responding as well as experience in life. Something that computers lack, so they try to go to step 4 directly.
I am waiting for a phone where software is not integrated into the hardware. Bit like I can buy a PC and put Windows on it or BSD or Linux. Oh and a phone that s not locked. (OK, I already have that as you can buy unlocked phones in Belgium where I live)
The real problem is that you don't have a choice. A two party system does not really give you a choice. I mean, if you are pro-gun and pro-choice, what party are you going to vote for? Either way, you will get disappointed, because one of the things you care for will be not what you wanted it to be.
Imagine somebody coming up to the counter of whatever supermarket you work at and start verbally abusing you for decissions made by some upper level management people.
I have had people calling me names over things management did. Irregardless who is right, what I do is just shrug it off. I have also left a company because I disagreed with management. Obviously not something I do with all the decisions I disagree with.
Basically I just ignore people who try to verbally abuse me. Just like I ignore any other troll.
I used to have many different channels form many different countries. Living in Belgium meant I was able to see tv from about 10 countries.
The reason I do not have it anymore is because of two reasons. 1) With 10 countries, you do get 10 times the same shows. So I got a reduced amount of channels that I looked at. In fact I looked at 3 in the end. BBC1, BBC2 and VT4. 2) They decided to put the BBC on digital and I did not want to pay for a change I did not wanted or requested. Paying all that money for 1 channel with lots of adds was just not worth it.
I have a problem with the US spying on me. They have no jurisdiction over me here in Europe, but that has not stopped them yet.
Oh and could you please relocate the cemeteries from the brave WWII soldiers back to the US, because the turning in their graves keeps everybody awake. (To all the soldiers that were part of the allied forces, regardless of their country, I thank you and I am sorry we have let you down.)
SF is fairy tales for grownups where the 'magic' is explained. e.g. somebody who turns everything into gold would be somebody who changes the atoms he touches. (Free to Asimov) Somebody who sleeps for 100 years and is woken up by a kiss? I am sure you can think of several ways SF explained that.
It explains clearly why I so easily went from reading Grimm to reading Asimov.
Unfortunately SF now means "Exploding stuff in or from space." To me that is not SF. To me good SF is e.g. Gattaca. It should make you think about yourself. Just like fairy tales, they should contain some sort of moral. And a general moral, not "USA! USA! USA!" That is not a moral. It is propaganda.
I realize how ridiculous it sounds to be turning connections on and off all the time
I do so all the time. Turning on and off Blue-tooth, Wifi, 3G and even my GPS is something I do by pressing one icon for each. If nothing else, it is to save energy.
Or you can turn on Airplane mode. Also just a 1x1 widget away on my Android.
Being not reachable once in a while is nice. People can leave a message or send an SMS and I will reply when I am good and ready. My friends do the same, so no issues there.
Same here. Just because they asked it AND it was provided tells me there is more going on.
I have seen employees taking serious advantage of the system.
Employee does not come to work and says he is sick. (Even has found a doctor that confirms this.) next the employee brags on Facebook that he is not sick, but just wanted the extra month payed holiday. (Some countries pay you when you are sick at home. e.g. Belgium, where I live)
You hear about this. Now what would you do as HR? a) Nice job, which I would have thought of that, b) Try to get the proof, so you can fire the person without any payment, which would otherwise cost you several months pay. In Belgium this will start at 3 months and 3 additional months are added every 5 years.
Not wanting to give people that money f they do not deserve it is also a sign to others to not try that bullshit.
So my guess is that this is not so much about a bad employee, but somebody who defrauds the company. If this is to be understood you need at leas hear both parties AND now the laws that go over this.
If this would happen in Belgium, I would go with the company, because if they take such kind of steps, that means they are on to something. e.g. not the first issue with that person. That will most likely leave people who have to do the work not very happy. Also in Belgium if it happens in one case does not mean it will happy in any other case.
I have the technical knowledge to run my own DNS server. I do not have enough knowledge to do the following: Make a DNS server for a single PC. It shoudl possibly be doing the following: 1) Work like a standard DNS server (e.g. start looking at root for SOA, then go down to find the A record for a site) 2) Stabndard caching of 2 days for IP addresses, perhaps longer for TLDs 3) Override DHCP settings 4) Make it easy to install (double click should be enough)
That way you are no longer depending on your providers DNS, nor depend on any other third party, like Google or any other third party DNS server.
So no matter if it is done by mistake or on purpose, you are not dependent on any third party for DNS.
Having a central DNS server used to be important as traffic was slow and expensive. Now I do not see that as an issue anymore, so the servers can be decentralized.
Every President in the few recent years has made your country look foolish. (Say back to at least Nixon)
Perhaps it isn't the presidents. Perhaps the problem is the two party system that shoots down the real good ones and prefers the ones that win the election.
Marketing is indeed at fault. Marketing focuses on winning, not on making a great country. As we see, they can be complete opposites.
So what party are you going to vote for that is against all this and will go through with it?
And that is the issue right there. The 1776 politicians and people took action and were willing to die for it. We now would be upset if we would miss the game of our favorite sports-team while eating our favorite fast food. Not a new idea
When things like this go on, what you want is wishful thinking.

The great power of cross referencing.
So you take parts that you like and ignore parts that you do not like? For that you do not have to be religious. You can do that without religion.
Here an interesting read: Even If I DID Believe ...

We can not have foreigners spying on our people. These jobs should not go to foreigners. They belong to Americans. They should spy on our people.
(Uh wait!)
USA! USA! USA!
(Phew, that was close.)

For Google it does not stop with just the notice. e.g. I did a search on harry potter filetype:torrent and at the bootom I get:
In response to a complaint we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 1 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaint that caused the removal(s) at ChillingEffects.org.
If you read the DMCA complaint, you can find the URL (and many more) that you wer looking for. Hilarious, I think.
That is what they want you to believe.

Well, you must be. Otherwise you are a terrorist.
So you think posting as AC will make the NSA not know you posted it? You are so cute.
Posting AC is security through obscurity.
