I worked at a company where we got a LOT of free stuff. X-mass presents where so big that people who would come with public transport, would come by car. Otherwise they could not transport it. Birthday presents, gala dinners and what not. Company sold our department to another similar sized company. None of the perks we previously had.
I have worked at small and large companies. In general smaller companies tend to be more genrous, as the distance between people is less. The CEO might know you personally. And this he might be willing to OK a perk busdget easier. With a large company, it will probably be several levels to the CEO. The perks budget has to be OKed by several directors and becomes just an amount, part of a budget, not a perk.
Small company "Hey, there is an icecream car outside, who wants icecream? I pay!" (Yep that actually happened).
Large company: "Memo: Concerning the distribution of Icecream paid for by the company: Untill the question that was raised concerning how to compensate people who are lactore intollerant, are doing homeworking and on what budget we wil be billing this, we ask people not to leave their desk. As soon as this matter is solved in quearter 3, we will get back to you."
That people are not at their first serious job after 6 or 7 years sound normal to me. Also then there was a huge grow at Google. I can imagine that has flattened down seriously. So their demands might have changed.
I disconnect on purpose when I am on a holiday. No charger, just 5 minutes at the evening to check if any extremely urgent things happened as not all understand the disconnect I am doing and expect me somehow to answer.
If you need Google to know what the peek hours are in restaurants, you seriously need to go out more. And the 99% of the time you are in traffic, it will be a mess everywhere, because you are going to your job or to your house. No need for any external information.
I heard these "But what if I am on the side of the road?" as a thing for cellphones. These things do happen. However they happen not often enough that everybody all the time should have a cellphone with them.
Put one in your car. Have it turned off but charging. No need to take it with you when you walk from your car to your desk. Not needed to have it with you when you do not even have a car.
And if you do not meet that person, the world will also not end. You most likely will have a person that you both can contact. "Hey, if Jimmy calls, tell him I am stuck here because of reasons." Or you call the place where you where meeting up.
That could pose a different problem. I know one person who, as a joke, said "If it is my wife calling, I am not here." in a pub. It was his wife and he told her that he would be in the pub.
What I do when I am on a holiday for a week is NOT take a charger with me, or a charging cable. Turn off the phone during the day and turn it on for 5 to 10 minutes at night to check (if that). No I do not use the GPS during the holiday. Getting lost is a great thing to do and an experience of an by itself. You see things you did not plan to see and I have time to get somewhere, as I am on a holiday.
And I do not need to take photo's either. I will remember it (completely wrong I know) and have the memories, not the 10.000.000 photo's. People who want to see it; should come with me or visit it themselves.
And here I am, living in some Communist country. 37.5 hour work week. 35 paid holidays. Sick days are not determined before, but on the fact that you are sick. Union in every company (Told ya it was communist). No overtime, unless it is paid or turned into extra free time (e.g. 1 day extra work, 1.5 days extra holidays). Cheep to free healthcare, adults can drink alcohol when they are adults. Also no locked phones and no real issues that time we took the world record in forming a governement ude to a multi party system.
On top of that the best chocolate and beer in tghe world. Yeah for Belgium!
Finding out how people used a computer in the past? Leave out the mouse and work in a terminal. Be it DOS or bash or whatever.
Yes, the mouse is overused often there are interfaces where it is absolutely faster to use a keyboard. Often menu's rell you what to use, vut where we used one program we use now many more.
The worst offender I see people doing is use the mouse to go to an entry field, enter what is needed and use the mouse to klick ok.
So as always, uae the right tool. Not everything is a nail.
If anybody will do anything, it will be Deuroope. Ifrom what we have seen, if the Us has to choose between a US company ans anything else, including its citizens, the company wins.
Remember when Microsoft was found guilty in the US of being a monopoly? Tnhey had to do nothing.
The thing about the haircolor: if you do not need it for the workprocess, you should not have it. E.g. a bank should not. It can operate without it. A hairdresser could need it .
The question a company should ask is "do we need this information to be able to do our jib?" If yes, then there is no issue, if no: problems. What are you doimg with that data?
If that where not the case, AB InBev, the largest brewer in the world, Heineken an Carlsberg would be selling beer to 16 year olds, like they do in their home counties in the US.
You can still but the 1EUR phone, but you own the phone. If you want to cancel the 24 monthly payments, you will obviously have to pay those 24 months in one time. Officially not to buy your phone, as it is already yours, but that is what they use the money for.
That also means that after 24 months, you will still be paying for your subscription, yet the phone is already paid. That is when they really start making money, or get you with a new "free" phone.
So it is perfectly possible to have an unlocked phone and still pay through the nose for the phone for 24 months. TANSTAAFL.
I just buy my phone and use pre-paid cards. My bill is around 50 EUR per year. That is what many other pay per month.
Every try to start a competent ISP or cell carrier?
Not me, but a friend of mine has and he is doing pretty well. Was no problem at all. But then giving a lot of money to politicians is called bribery where I live.
Where I live, simlocking is not allowed. Every phone you buy will be unlocked. Every. Single. One.
There is a difference between your phone and your carrier fees and your phone. So if you buy a plan with a phone, you can drop the plan and use the phone at any other carrier.
You could even put the SIM in your old Nokia phone and not use your new phone, or not use your new plan and use the phone on a pre-paid card, or...
This all doe snot mean you do not still have to pay your plan and pay a lot of extra fees if you decide to step out early. But that is for the plan, not for the phone.
The country is Belgium. Home of the free sims and beer.

Also: If they do not understand the science part, why do parents rather have a dead kid than an autistic one?

Microsoft paid Apple a lot of money to save them, so they should get something in return

I easily can miss it, but I like having it.

The savings will be passed on to the customer. So cheaper iPhones. Right? Right!? Guys? Am I right?
They want to know when to copyright, not when it is free to use.

Remember when google listened to the concerns when they raped Dejanews? Or any other time?
Neither does anybody else, because they do not care. They have never cared. The moments they are on your side is just lucky, not intentional.
Remember when Microsoft was the worst? They have not changed, others have just become even worster.
Bit sad about this. We could otherwise just outvote gravity and all be flying.
They also don't use the metric system. Coincidence? I think not.
If the other big island is any measurement, they will develop drop bears and others things that will kill you.
Well, statistically they are. They are outside the norm.
Also on any other level. They are just pure evil and have no soul.
That thing would go ding-ding-ding till the batteries are dead.
