    In Belgium there is not even a public database of you conviction.no mugshots to be made public. Every human deserves privacy, including criminals.

    I think this is a great example as to why the right to be forgotten is good. She is not in the same situation as the search result made you believe.
    Google already is able to decide I am not allowed to watch porn images by default, so it is clearly playing judge and juror.

    This is not like where /. Had to take down things against their will and all the rest stays up.

    If I go to a theater, I go for the company, not for the movie. Same as going to a restaurant( excludinf fast food) where I go for as a social happening, not because it is cheap.

    Want real vallue for you money? Go to a library and read a book. Even buying it will give more time and pleasure than watching the movie.

    Several hours for the average book.

    You pay yearly as well in Belgium. Does not mean you get a new plate or a sticker to put on the plate or anything. You just get an OK in the database that the police can check if they want to.

    In Belgium you get your license plate once. You take them with you when you get a new car. When you do not need them, you bring em back i.e. drop them off at the post office.

    It is just there, so they can check the database. Plenty are 20+ years old. No need to recharge the batteries.

    Insurers can not only live with the occasional unexplained loss. They depend on them.

    Imagine if there where none. That would mean they would not pay out any insurance, but more importantly, not receive any insurance either.

    They just need to do "(Payout * 1.x)" and that is what they will receive. The .x is their profit. If there is no payout, there will nothing to receive (unless they make up fraudulents contracts and/or the airlines are idiots)

    Why stop there? Have a origami phone. Folded it looks like a phone. Unfolded and you have a screen as large as a sheet of paper.

    I remember when people said they did not need HD, or even color tv. I also remember when people thought the walkman was anti-social and no need for it. Same for portable phones.

    The fact that they where right each and every time, here we are. Want us an impotant thing and drives out need often.

  13. Shhh. I do it to confuse the American tourist. I also tell them Duvel is a light pils as it tastes a bit sweet and the best chocolates are Leonidas. That is why there are stores everywhere.

    The real fun is having them drink a few light Duvels and start explaining the Political and language situation. Be sure to be in a pub with late or no closing hours and even better if it is a 18 or 19 year old without any real drinking experience who thinks he is the man. (Only if they think that, others are really nice and will be treated accordingly. And yes, it is alway men.)

    Could be that road conditions do not let you travel at 100KM on average.
    So most likely they think it was a road where 100KM was not possible. Here a 450KM trip that would take 12.5 hours. 70KM more added 8 hours travel time.

    GPS is a receiving system only. Transmitting is done with something else and that can contain your location you received through GPS.

    In the last 20 years I never really needed to search my archive, except for passwords. Password manager took care of that.

    So most emails get deleted when I am done. The 1 per month that is important will be archived outside mail and that right away.

    Example.com exists for a reason.

    I do the same, but just use the company website as name. E.g slashdot.org@example.com

    I also have some themed ones, like hotels2019. Obviously a spambox I delete every so often.

    I use procmail to filter it into about 10 mailboxes.

    I have my own domain.

    For websites and companies, I use e.g. slashdot.org@example.com. I will know if the email is leaked or sold pretty fast. When I get spam, it is eother leaked or sold.

    I then have several others, e.g hotel2019@example.com for all travel related things.

    I use fetchmail to get tge mail and procmail to put it in different mailboxes, like travel, mailinglist, friends, ....

    I believe you can do the same with gmail by doing email+whatever@....
    Not sure, as I do not use gmail.
