Have you even seen Princess Mononoke? Ghost in the Shell? (The anime that inspired The Wachowski Brothers to create the Matrix)
Personally I don't watch that much anime, but I've read a lot of mangas. Anyway, I think you're grossly oversimplifying in your judgement. Sure there are some very bad animes, just like there are bad movies. But you cannot judge animes as a whole, you have to judge each individual movie on it's own.
PDA's are becoming faster and faster. I wonder when they'll catch up with game consoles in terms of power. As for having joysticks, it would be ideal to use bluetooth. Bluetooth doesn't need to compete with WiFi, they complement each other.
Or you could run a version of XP which has product activation disabled. But really, I don't see a single advantage XP offers over W2K: if you upgrade the messenger, browser, and media player you basically have XP. You can even get the eyecandy skins if you use something like windowblinds.
You wouldn't want to just use this to show something to your friends. Maybe you see something somewhere that you'd like to look at yourself later. Kind of a camcorder built into your phone. This kind of thing would be awesome for parties, or for when you see that:P
The UK isn't much better than the US. Even though they have experience with terrorists, they are now also implementing a new counterterrorist law. Interesting that they only now feel this is necessary. Then again, have you walked around london lately? It's pretty much impossible to _not_ be recorded by CCTV, where ever you go.
What? Some of the best shooters ever came out after quake 2. Let's see there's Half Life, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Counterstrike, Castle Wolfenstein just to name a few. Halo looks quite interesting to me, especially since it seems to be a different kind of game: instead of playing one player vs. many enemies, it's more of a battle situation, where you have nany allies fighting alongside you.

That's one theory. There are many others which are not so optimistic. Let's hope you're right.
I think what most people would prefer is a video-on-demand system which would still let them store the video for later viewing. Wait a minute, that's my PC connected to the internet with TV-out. Now if only there was a legal way of obtaining content.
Probably best to release it as LGPL, and negotiate with individual licencees who wish to use BSD. That way at least you can get a feeling as to whether or not someone is to be trusted with the BSD version of your code. Perhaps ask for compensation if someone wants to use a less restricted license like BSD.
I recently read in the WSJ about the alliance Sony and AOL have recently forged. One of things they are going to be collaborating on is:
The joint development of an Internet browser designed for optimal performance, a consistent experience, and greater convenience on networked consumer electronic devices. Both companies envision not only employing the browser in future Sony products but also making it available to other consumer electronics manufacturers
Are they talking about Mozilla? If not what does this mean for Mozilla? Remember that AOL owns Netscape, who are the biggest contributors to Mozilla. There's also an article about the alliance here. I tried to post it as a story, but it got rejected. Sorry about the offtopic message here.
And IR wireless isn't nearly as cool as bluetooth...I imagine with IR you'd have to point your keyboard at the PC, which can be annoying to say the least.
Perhaps there are still some free alternatives. I haven't tried any of those listed though. Maybe someone can provide some feedback.
The other possibility of course is to use something like Freenet. Although nobody is totally anonymous on freenet, at least everyone is almost anonymous, which I feel is much better than the current situation. Of course, big-brother types will disagree and claim it is far too dangerous.
This might sound very inhumane, but it's something I feel needs to be said.
Compare the number of deaths each year due to car-accidents and due to terrorism. Now look at the actions being taken to stop them from happening. Liberties are being grabbed away right, left and center, all in the name of stopping terrorism.
Don't you think this is exactly what terrorists aimed for? They want americans to feel scared.
And the worst thing is that I don't think it will help much at all. There will be more terrorist attacks in the future: raising security will not stop this: it will serve primarily to terrorise americans further.
Actually the heart monitor sounds like a good idea for this very recent. I live in Amsterdam and recently there have been a number of cases of people taking too much e and dying. Having a heart-monitor would have probably prevented these deaths.
However, such a system should be anonymous, and should not be used by the club to track who takes drugs and who doesn't.
What's so great about Civ3 exactly? I've played a lot of sid meier games (civ,colonisation,civ2, alpha centauri), but Civ3 doesn't look very appealing to me. It doesn't seem to offer anything new really and the graphics are really outdated. I don't think they should have used a 3d engine or anything, but better animations at a higher resulution would have been nice.
I consider Civilization 1 on of the great masterpieces of all time. This is because it offered a kind of interacting. The interface Civilization created has been copied by countless strategy games since, including Civ3.
I think games are most interesting when they bring about a paradigm shift, a new way of interaction with the system, a new way of thinking.
Such games include civ, dune2, and wolfenstein. Why aren't many people trying to invent new genres? Black & white was an attempt, but I didn't find it much fun to play.
It really reminds me of pixars luxo jr movie, the way the screen moves around in the movie they have online. Funny, since jobs was also founded pixar.

There was a preview of this PDA a while back on Infosync. There was also a /. story associated with those pics.
What, sort of like this phone? Actually the 8890 was pretty cool i thought.
And the sad part is that sources of good media coverage like K5 can't even afford to stay up continuously.
We all know that where ever the US goes, Europe is sure to follow!
That's for sure

Actually, it's Echelon, not Eschalon. If you were trying to be funny, i guess I missed it.

There's also a similar project for Mac OS X, qbati, which seems to be just getting underway.
If the only part of mozilla you like is Gecko, then use only gecko with a simplified interface.
For linux, try Galeon
For windows, try K-Meleon

Kox Box - Crunchy Moles .... The beginning is damn funny.

But at least peter molyneux tried something new.
