there is nothing stopping you from doing whatever query you wish to do. why does everybody assume that the simple example stuff in the demos and crappy articles are all that RoR has to offer. Do some research before completely dismissing something as a toy. I have been programming database applications for more years than most slashdot posters have been alive and I see a ton of value in RoR. No it is not for every situation but its damn sure a good fit for most. Most peoples opposition seems to stem from they cant grok it in an instant so it must be crap. I found the learning curve to be about 2 weeks and have found nothing I cant acheive in a elegant and efficient maner. RoR is the most well thought out framework I have ever used and I have used a ton. Its not perfect but what is? If you dismiss it you are missing out. Once you understand the internals of the framework you will be better off when developing in other platforms as well.
whats the matter.. you couldnt understand RoR? Your statement about access is so far off base that I doubt you have ever read more than crappy slashdot posts about it.
you have fud packed so far up your ass its coming out of your mouth.
That is not true. I work for a company of 50 whites and I (also white) hired a black female who just happened to be the best applicant for the position I was hiring for. A programming position. The color of her skin did not enter into the process at all.
Most people don't expect science will save us. They want the world to go to shit. They are cheering its doom. It will mean jesus is coming back or some such nonsense. It is a sad ignorant world.
I invite you to come on over to http://whydoesgodhateamputees.com/ you will have lots of fun. Read it all and then come share your genius with everybody in the forums.
Do me a favor.. Kill yourself and ask your god to come down here and DO SOMETHING.. preferably something usefull. dont care what it is just as long as it is perceived to be usefull. Good luck with that.
People commit suicide for many reasons. Most of them stupid (loss of love or wealth, failing at something) The gamer suicide probably stems from an unusually strong emotional investment and the subsequent loss of or failure at that which they so irrationally care so much about. It is no different than someone committing suicide over the loss of a girlfriend/boyfriend or for the older the loss of a job. The fact that it was gaming related is just a novelty.
Im sure somebody has already stated the obvious here and that the information has to pass through has to pass through an os/api and the network and thus is subject to being altered on the way out. So its both stupid as a means of ID and and stupidly easy to bypass.
fucking moron. yeah we all really believe that you are willing to go to jail or worse for killing a repo man. Most likely if you did anything at all it would be more big talk.. "I'm gonna sue you!", "Dont you know who I am!", "Get the fuck off my property".. etc etc.. but in the end you would still watch your vehicle get towed away.
Did you make sure your bandwidth settings were set to the highest value? This can be set on the Vonage website and I last I looked there were 3 choices. I have seen new lines default to the lowest setting which is total crap. I have 3 lines on a cable modem connection and have never had call quality issues. I have had just about every other issue with ringing and connect delays, voicemail, caller id, etc. Most of the time you pick up and say Hello and the other person doesnt hear anything cause the call has not properly connected yet. But it saves me hundreds/month and the minor issues I have learned to live with.
At some point the bits will be transfered unencrypted--unless all manufacturers get together and use the same encryption tech which we all know works so well (dvd). You may have to mod your hardware but its still possible to get at the information. It can be made difficult but never impossible to access and fiddle with digital information. Its a big advantage and drawback of digital tech. If information ever goes quantum then we are fucked. I dont think we are that far off (maybe 100 years) from seeing entangled particle communication systems.
Was this a targeted attack? Did they just fall victim to a script? Unpatched vulnerability? Weak password? what? Im just asking cause none of the links provided answer this.
There are many good email clients out there. Makeing one with java that looks like the rest and doesnt seem to offer anything unique seems pointless to me. EVERY gui java app I have ever used is a slow unresponsive mess. Perhaps this could be fast but still it just another client that looks and behaves like every other one out there? I am probably wrong.. Please fill me in on the wonderful things this one does that others do not.
A joke in what way? I have run several MS-SQL servers for many years and the only two things that continualy bother me is the lack of being able to include an auto-numbered column in results without using something expensive like functions and the lack of paged (limit) result sets.
I am however in the process of migrating to PostgreSQL.

And how would everybody feel if it were being used by an enemy against you?
I can't wait for a blackout. It will mean I get some peace for once.

Can you provide examples of the patents? Thought not.

God loves you. God will burn you in hell for all eternity. God wants more foreskins.
