    Gate's foundation, while noble, is a bit like throwing money in to a black hole.
    It costs a awful lot for little net difference. People will keep getting sick.

    Google's plans are in their best interests so they will wok hard on it and when completed, it will have a massive impact around the world.
    Even third world countries can use cheap clean energy.

    Google will help everybody instead of a select few.

    Damages wouldnt entitle them to keep distributing.

    I use Gentoo and the last time I reinstalled it was when I got a new computer maybe 4 years ago.
    Still works flawless. Windows would be begging to be reinstalled by now.

    I think the GP was trying to make a joke about the 24 hours plus install times for Gentoo. :)
    Sure it takes long but once its done its absolutely fantastic.

    I dont know where you are but the only two places I can speak of authoritively is Australia and Turkey.
    Neither have had any significant impact because of 9/11.

    Australia now has tighter airport security and a security hotline. Nothing which has any impact.

    Turkey hasnt changed at all. Security is lax as ever. :)

    I dont know about those distros but in Gentoo to do what you want all you need is this line:
    preferred_aps="'SSID 1' 'SSID 2'"

    You can also blacklist certain access points either by MAC or SSID.
    I would be very surprised if the more user friendly distros didnt have something similar.

    Channel 10 in Australia still runs Futurama every single night.
    Sure its filler material but its damn good filler.

    Its still insanely popular. I dont think DVD sales would completely demonstrate that.

    When comparing operating systems then you have to do it out of the box.
    You really see how much Microsoft has done compared to what Linux has done.

    Yes from a usability point of view, Windows has better driver support.
    But Linux has more drivers, higher quality drivers, and the drivers are organized far better.

    You missed my point. Broadcom supports their own wifi.
    Microsoft does not.

    Linux on the other hand does support the wifi. Even if it is only a little.

    Windows supports your wifi out of the box? Thought not.

    Linux however supports it barely. :P

    Manufacturer drivers dont count when comparing operating systems.
    Microsoft did nothing to ensure your wifi works, the Linux devs did however.

    Thats all you need to do to rip the movie (minus ads) and put it on a nice video on demand server. :)

    There are more reasons to keep XP than to upgrade.

    The *do* work faster under Linux. Sometimes by a significant amount.

    I'm talking about native ports of course, not wine.
    It also depends on how well the port was made.

    If a game was written for Linux from the beginning then Windows wouldnt stand a chance.

    Making a companies core product Vista only would make the company go bankrupt, not increase Vista sales.

    Define easily.

    Every kernel has its pros and cons.
    Linux's best pros is awesome driver support (far better than Windows), its actively maintained and it is incredibly flexible.

    You dont seem to emphasise how kick ass Madwifi is. :D
    One card can do anything the most expensive access point you can find can do.

    The most amazing thing I can think of is its ability to do multiple things with a single card seamlessly.
    You can sniff networks on one channel and surf the net on another, you can have virtual access points and surf the net (while monitoring) and so on.
    Absolutely amazing.

    Using open source is the better option. Far less paper work and its a lot simpler.

    As a original Hotmail user (before it was MS owned), I can tell you that there is nothing legacy left.
    Microsoft has designed the monster that Hotmail is today all by them selves.

    Naturally after MS bought Hotmail, I switched to real email - POP3 and the like.
