  1. Hopefully Allofmp3 is smart and ignores the suit on RIAA Goes for the Max Against AllofMP3 · · Score: 1

Hopefully Allofmp3 is smart and ignores the lawsuit in federal ct. in NY. After all, the federal court in NY has no personal jurisdiction (let alone subject matter jurisdiction!) over allof mp3.

Allofmp3 should ignore the suit, I mean, why even consent to allow the federal court in NY determine if proper jurisdiction exists? Even if the RIAA, because of this, got a default judgment against allofmp3 in fed. ct in NY, it is worthless unless allofmp3 decides to open up shop in the US in which the judgment would all of a sudden become enforceable.

If someone files a lawsuit against me in Malaysia, I wouldn't dare do anything BUT completely ignore it since the courts in Malaysia have no jurisdiction over me. They cannot compel me to court, and they cannot force me to pay up to the scumbag.

I hope allofmp3 has good lawyers advising them of this.

Now no one gives a rats a$$ about the games at Metreon.

I think it's sad that these games like the ones at DQ have not evolved. I don't think they have because the demand is low, and the demand is low because people don't know how fun this kind of stuff COULD be.

I agree that HD for movies will fail. Right now I know tons of people who kill for movies in theaters with IMAX, but when you talk about going to see it on the big screen in DLP projection, they aren't so impressed. Of course they are idiots because they seem to favor a big analog picture, over a high quality crisp DLP picture, but c'est la vie.

But outside of movies, HD makes a huge difference in TV. At least for the people who are going out to buy it. I HATE watching TV shows in analog 480i (even digital 480i isn't all that great), and when something is in at least 720p or 1080i, the difference is breathtaking. Even for sitcoms or drama (let alone SPORTS), it makes a difference. It makes TV watching more enjoyable.

In fact, if you go to avsforum, you'll find that HD makes shows previously unwatchable, now all of a sudden tolerable. I know I personally have watched more Discovery because of Discovery HD Theater than I would have had I been totally deprived of HDTV.

HD-DVD's and Blu-Ray may die, but you are living your life with blinders on if you can't see that HDTV is here to stay (until perhaps surpassed by something better).

Probably. I grew up in the NES/SNES generation and while back then I bought games that I would play alone and/or with friends, today I only buy games that have multiplayer, like (XBOX 360) NHL 2k6, COD 2, Perfect Dark Zero, and I am going to pick up Fight Night Round 3 this week.

What I hated as a kid (And my parents really hated it) was that I wanted a game so badly, and when I finally got it, I was pretty much bored with it after a few hours. The games in which this did not happen were multiplayer- oriented games, like Goldeneye for N64.

It's used to be a rare thing to get anyone over to play a multiplayer game, but when you did, oh man was it fun. Today the consoles and PC's allow this for hundreds of games, and you almost always can find someone to play with so you don't get bored by the CPU. This is a good thing.

P.S. I am not a fan of the MMO thing, but as long as RPG's are around, MMO's will continue to thrive.

With humans we think beyond that, we can reason. It's a blessing and a curse.

Blessing to be so intelligent, but curse because it makes us ask the ONE single question (among other questions) that got religion started: what happens after we die???

Because humans have the ability to reason, we can't deal with the fact that nothing happens when we die. Surely you'll be able to watch HD DVD on the XBOX 360 with this drive using the current component video hookup (And I seriously doubt that they would down-rez the output simply because it's component. We are talking about XBOX 360 here, not some regular stand-alone DVD player)

I don't see the need to get a TV that accepts HDMI. You may, if you don't already have one, need to get an HDCP-compliant TV, but that is a different issue.

Let's not forget that the Japanese have a strong anti-American bias when it comes to this industry. They fall all over anything and everything Nintendo/Sony, and automatically hate anything Microsoft.

At least many Americans realize that the Japanese tend to make better cars than Americans. You would think the Japanese would give us the same open mind towards video games.

The FACT that XBOX 360 with the SAME launch titles would have done much better if it simply had a Nintendo or Sony stamp on it PROVES that the Japanese are closed-minded when it comes to the video game market.

Yes, this is very true. I got into FPS's with Goldeneye for N64, playing with 3 other friends.

The problem is that you can't always find time to get everyone over to one physical location to play a game, even if all of your friends can play at the same time. Online gaming solves this problem as you get to play with your friends (and perhaps new friends), without leaving your house. The HUGE plus (and I guess you don't get this), is that by playing your friends online, in say Halo 2 (or any FPS), you get your own FULL screen, not split screen garbage. With games using snipers and improving graphics, it helps to have your own full screen to see things.
