Amiga Anywhere was supposed to create that environment that java wasn't quite able to. You could write a piece of software and have it run on all platforms (PC, Mac, *nix, palm, etc.) but never really went anywhere due to setbacks and poor company management. In the end, I think they just ended up using it to make software for slot machines.:-/
I think most devices could get away with finely tuned generic drivers.
Heck, back in the day just about everything could get away with generic drivers because they weren't these overcomplicated suites of utilities as they are today.
Printer drivers for example would just send the data to the printer and the printer would print the text/graphics. Now you have all these tools/utilities/diagnostics/etc built right into the so-called driver for tweaking and such but they aren't really nessessary to get the job done.
Let all the extras be their own software (closed or open). Keep the drivers simple, fine tuned, open, and generic.:)
I remember reading an article a few months ago about large amounts of CO2 being trapped under lakes and being released all at once due to being disturbed by an earthquake or some such. Anyways, all of this CO2 came forth and being such a heavy gas, it lingered in the populated area and sufficated whole villages/towns.
If we just bury / submerge the CO2, this could happen all over again. Thus wiping out any life in the area it occurs.
As a side note, if someone out there could find the article I'm referencing and post it, it would be appreciated.
Now that they have found a way to get a bee attracted to something, maybe they should look for a way to repel bees from things like people and picnics!
As I said (keyed in) in an earlier post, it doesn't matter how many cell phones there are. You can track how quickly they move from one cell to another, and know if traffic is jammed or not on a specified area of highway
Well, going that route. Wouldn't it look like a traffic jam if a bus full of teens broke down and was pulled over beside the road?
The makeup of the passengers of a vehicle could greatly effect the results.
Think about it, a car full of teenagers will show several cell phone signals versus a car full of seniors or nuns which would probably have 0 cell phones inside.
I wonder if Sharks start to go more and more insane as they age. I mean, they can't stop swimming or they'll die so that means that have to never sleep or rest or anything. Its nothing but swim, swim, swim, eat, swim for them. Their whole life is amounted to swim or die.
If we're getting such a wide laptop. I hope they finally put a full sized keyboard with keypad on it. I'm tired of having to either hook up a full keyboard or a usb keypad for full keyboard functionality. My hands feel so cramped on a regular laptop keyboard and the arrow keys are attrotious.
They did this before with a contest. They get every fanboy they can to send in ideas to them in which WOTC gain copyrights to (read the fine print). Then they MIGHT actually give out a prize (or in this case a job) and use whatever they see fit from the ideas they gathered from fans.
I know playing most games with a remote would probably suck.
However, if you could use java and a Blu-Ray burner to make your own Blu-Ray player/PS3 compatible games, that would seriously rock!
If this works, I could easily see Blu-Ray player manufacturers making gamepad style remotes or maybe even gamepad ports for their players for playing java games on them.
This could open up a whole new market for the small developer.
Sure you won't be able to drive it cross-country for a while, but for burning around town, it should work
Actually, natural gas is already being used to fuel cars. Out here in Vegas, many taxicabs use natural gas for fuel. I'm not sure where they get it as I haven't seen a commercial fueling station for them but I assume that they have their own fueling areas for when they need to fill up. I also heard that at some point, it might be used for the public buses (CAT) as well.
They are supposed to be ingested. Smoking them just alters their chemistry and turns them into a poison thus making any 'good' ingredients counter-productive.
Its like trying to smoke an aspirin to rid yourself of that headache.

So now not only will looking at the goatse picture make you vommit, it will take over your Windoze PC!

*Un-Un-Un-Unbelievable*
Here is the Link to the story I was talking about.

'Super High Vision' sounds SuperUltraMegaCool!
Dracula must be played by Christopher Walken!
:-P
Ok, but then Alucard would have to be played by Steve Buscemi because I'd swear those two look like father and son.
If you work in the city of Lansing, you have to pay them income tax.
:-/
:-)
If you live in the city of Lansing, you have to pay them another income tax.
If you live and work in Lansing, you get slammed twice.
Yet, after paying all these taxes to the city, you rarely get any of it back.
You usually either break even or owe them more..
I'm glad I moved away from there...

My prediction:
One the new 'features' of IE7 will automatically send you to the msn search page for all searches.
Also, if you type in google.com into your address bar, it will automagically send you to msn search.
He didn't....

Monkeys don't have thumbs!
Well...at least for the first few years.....

It wasn't 'cool' to be a gamer. I got all sorts of flack and harrassment from other kids for being a 'Nintendo kid'.
Fans across the country who have paid for tickets to these events must now manually request refunds and suffer convenience charges.
Not to be one of those lawsuit happy types but...
If the organizers don't cover convience charges to the fans, I'd say bring on the civil suit!
Why should the fans pay out these fees to a show they never got to see?
Guess they don't hold grudges.
:-P
;-)
Oh suuuure...go ahead and remind them why Slashdot shouldn't win..
After Slashdot loses, you can say that it has been a dis-honor just being nominated.

And I respond with, "Please don't." (:

Yes! The north star will lead the way!
