Who the h311 rated this funny? it should be insightful, the money could have been better used searching for a cure to cancer, or another life threatening illness.
Um... marginal? A 77% increase, with 90% expected when it's final is marginal? A single one of these cards reders the unreal 3 engine at ~24 fps, a 77% increase brings it around 42.48 which is actually playable. ATI's x800 btw gets ~15 fps on the unreal 3 engine.
Umm you see that's the problem... Most people think that these things ARE windows.
I put someone on a Linux computer and they we're lost until I showed theme Kopete(sp) and said it was a different look for MSN... they were happy and used my linux computer for about 5 hours.
It's quite simple, the masses don't know what mozilla/opera is... they never heard of it, and I bet the news cast didn't include a URL. So instead of taking up valuable time and give this information, they would rather discuss a story about a dog that looks like Jay Leno.
Combine this with the fact that (too much of) the general populace believes Micro$hit to make good software and won't use any product besides M$ software (if M$ makes it,) this causes the news to skip other factors that they believe people don't care about
Microsoft has to stop brainwashing the stoopid... or at least return the laundry

This works fine until those at the top start to use infuence to prevent their competitors, and hence those behind them from getting ahead. This turns into a class system and accelerates until revolution and then socialism. This sounds like a certain software company that appears on/. alot.
This in turn leads to loss of competition, and then a continued slowing of progress. Smaller factions break off and start to create their own internal competition, and more capitalist leanings , and then the whole process starts over again. Seems to be the bigger ones buy all the smaller ones, but then employees break off and work on other projects (which later get bought by the bigger company again)

As you mentioned, it's a huge step forward in WiFi technology. If some place 51.5 miles away does the same thing.... and that trend continues we could see a wireless north america in a few years.
That said, if it's a stardard EXE I don't see how it would run on linux.:D And since Linux doesn't have an autorun annoyance... I mean feature, we'd have to consciously install it.
Once again, the solution is... Don't use M$ Windows. (Sorry Mac people, I have had no recent experience with a Mac to make a comment on it.
can be difficult, I'm a software developer, and my former employer is an Electrical engineer. We spoke two completely different languages, untill we both realized that we needed to find the common ground. If someone understands even some basics about the technology you're working with it will help. Without some understanding, if the budget gets tight (s)he'll just cut from the most expensive part of the project, not realizing that particular action may ruin the project.
That said... that common ground can be found as long as the person is willing to learn a little bit of the technology.
I remind them that the contract and terms of agreement that I have in the book they sent me, state "Unlimited Bandwidth" and threaten to take them to the better business beurow(sp) if they don't put me back on, and take 5% off my months bill for the 3 days I didn't get to use the service. If they don't believe me I tell my lawer who's on the phone to speak up now, he cited some precidence and I haven't been disconnected for using "too much bandwidht" since (altho at 98GB in 3 weeks....)
If I recall correctly, didn't Johnathan Archer in Star Trek Enterprise have a meteorite that his father gave him when he was a kid?? Maybe this is his Great Great Grandmother or something.
It's a sign that Star Trek was written by time travelers from the future to tell us what it'll be like. I better get my tinfoil hat so they don't read my mind.
I concure with this possability, it may not have been boiling (as per reaching an approx. temp. of 100 degrees C (220 F) but may have appeared to be boiling due to the movement described above.
This is similar to how microwaves work. Also Ionization is not just used for nuclear fusion, quick question for you...
Q: If nothing sticks to teflon, how do they get teflon to stick to the pan? A: They ionize the pan with a positive (+) charge, and ionize the teflon with a negitive (-) charge and it will stick like the opposing ends of two magnets

300 MHz celery, I mean Celeron. It made a good file server... Now my 1.3 GHz P4 is my file server, and my Athlon XP 3200 is in my main box.
The Athlon XP was $10 (Canadian) more then a 3.0GHz Celeron, and is way more powerfull. So if AMD is releasing a competitor (performance wise) to the celeron, you bet it's gonna be alot cheaper.
Because yesterday was the 60th aniversary of D-Day (when allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy)
On Saturday, I spent about a half hour talking to a bomber pilot that flew in that mission.
Yes Canadians were there, and without our Newfoundland regiment (only lost 3% of their men) we probably would have lost the beach.

It would be a symbol of freedom... that's why we had 9/11
Microsofts "Great Software" called Windows XP was released with over 5 million known errors... that's approx. 1.333 errors per feature.
Or perhaps the errors ARE the features.

It is definitely time people let go of old saws like "Linux is obviously more rock solid" and face up to the reality of desktop users experience.
And here's my experience.
These are the actual numbers from my windows box, and my linux box. Running windows xp (all patches) and Suse 9.1Linux: Uptime 1 week, 3 days, installed for 1 week, 4 days.
Windows: Uptime 3 days 20 hours, installed for 1 week 3 days.

Did you know, Micro$oft Windows XP was released with more KNOWN errors then features? And probably twice that many unkown errors.
I am unable to find the articles with the exact numbers, but I believe it was in the ballpark of 5,000,000 known errors.
That makes me feel secure that my computer will run F.I.N.E. (F****d up Insecure Non-stable Environment

Ogg does sound better. and it tends to be a smaller file. So you could fit more songs on that 15GB disk.
We get women?
