    So we should use black backgrounds in the summer to save on AC but use white in the winter and gain a little extra heat. I suppose it would take awhile to add up to real savings but, as they say, "if everybody did it..."

    Anyone working on this was likely to be your great-grandfather, not grandfather. New generations usually start every 20-30 years.

    I find it difficult to believe anyone can predict anything in the computer industry five years out. Add to the equation trying to understand what a set of people (gamers) will accept? That all adds up to a wild, whack-ass guess in my book.

    Don't think that's going to happen. When the laws are even hinted at being enforced, the folks that hire illegals can afford to throw money at the lobbies. It's cheaper to buy laws than to pay minimum wages to a vast workforce. It's all the economics and cost of doing business.

    eh? Not sure about that... 45 Min AVIs (BSG, Heroes, etc) clock in at 350 Meg and they look fine on my 42" HD TV. Most probably look better than SD. But there you have the true professionals... those that do it for the love of the craft. They capture off of a HiDef source and have their utilities tweeked out to the max. I don't know what Apple is doing but maybe they don't have their process down yet.

    If I might give a possible scenario... some people have to travel light and/or small and when the PS2 came out it was the perfect multi-tasker for DVD and games. I know the dvd portable players are small and cheap these days but those wall warts add up.

    The problem with a lot of implementations of vote kick/ban is it's too easy to be kicked by idiots. There have been a number of times when someone considers a minor offence a kicking offence. So one person votes to kick and, in the heat of battle, enough people just vote yes without knowing the reason. Now, if you can vote with your ears, the muted can still play, and you don't have to listen to them. And like another comment mentioned, it'd be really useful to see how many folks are muting who.

    Whoa! Never saw that. I've played Guitar Hero and the keyboard version. While they're fun rhythm and "DDR for the fingers" type games there's not really any creativity involved. With that vid you can see actually playing something other than the available songs and making your own stuff up. Not that it'd replace a real guitar or even a good synth... just looks like it could be fun. I'd probably check it if it came out.

    Saying "if you were doing something wrong, you deserved it" is the same as saying "if you aren't doing anything wrong, you have nothing to hide."

    Not really. In the first case the person is doing something wrong and in the second case they aren't.
