I'll continue my fight; I ask that all of you join. This site has a lot of resources that I use. http://www.antitcpa.com/ please inform the masses and we can win. 7. Productivity on In Which OS Do You Feel More Productive? · · Score: 1

I think that productivity is something that really depends on how knowledgeable you are with the environment you work in. Unfortunately, for myself, I am more productive in windows based OS's because I have been working with windows since i was 5(well dos, but still Microsoft). It may be error filled and frustrating at times when the OS crashes constantly, but I can get more done in windows and quicker than i could in Linux simply because i know windows and every screen and check box by memory. I roll with the explore errors and unresponsive programs with ease and recover the OS from the brink of hardware freezes constantly. However, I get so much more done with more windows than I can shake a stick at (...23 windows right now), something Mac can't exactly do. I am just at "home" in windows. Ultimately though, when I get to the point in Linux where I am now with windows, I can almost guarantee that the one with the least amount of crashes will be the most productive. So assuming I know everything about every OS I would say Linux and OS X would be the most productive environments with the least amount of crashes and recoveries needed to get the work done. In addition, with less games in Linux and Mac, there are less distractions like a "15 minute break" for some old fashion UT or doom 2 :D.

That's it....I am moving to Canada. If anymore of the GOP's corporate whores get any more positions, this country might start "downsizing" its population because the country isn't making a profit. The first to go is all the people in the 0 to 10% tax bracket, and since they only think short term, they won't realize that their rich asses don't pay taxes and the US will go bankrupt. Either that or it will be "merged" and disassembled into some kind of Slavic tiny nation region from hell.
However, I don't think it has anything to do with the country making a profit....mostly just the administration. But hey! At least they can't blame the national debt on piracy :D.

  11. someone on What Do You Do When Outsourcing Goes Bad? · · Score: 1

When I was fired from gateway and my job given to a 1000 people somewhere is the eastern pacific ocean I pretty much lost all respect for any company that outsourced( yea a little biased)...majority of people I know and serve hate outsourced products...they are usually third grade pieces of crap. Take, for instance, the product gateway outsourced: Phone tech support. I was a knowledgeable English speaking level 2 technician for them. I could pretty much fix any problem a computer had over the phone within 15 minutes (minus hardware problems or reloads). I have had my own business for about 8 years now and I am "competing" with gateway. Frequently I will call gateway technical support for a customer (to get their warranty fulfilled)....5 out about every 8 calls is to someone that does not understand what I am saying....does not know anything about computers, and continually reads from a script. You outsource.... you get crap, but for a little bit while you ride your reputation, you will make a lot of money, but you will run your reputation into the ground. Gateway, gladly, has started doing this defaming of their brand name...the only thing that gateway had on me was the 24/7 monkey to answer their questions about their computer...now they realize that the monkey is still there, it just throws shit at you instead. Hence, since gateway has started outsourcing, dell as well, my business has had an increase of 16% over projected growth percentages the last two years...may just be a coincidence. Basically clientele don't like it when they hire a middle man...especially a middle man to hand the shit that the outsourced company gave to you. What is the moral of the story? Realize that you made a mistake...take your losses...and hire a real programming team to get your software done right...don't ride what rep you have into the ground, otherwise your customers will smell the shit and go elsewhere. Good luck to you

Well..... (Wavy lines) for my 5th birthday my grandpa gave me and old motherboard (don't really remember what it was) and about 200 dollars...He said "hey Chris, figure out how make a computer." The real problem was to resist taking it apart, all of the little capacitors and chips look so cool "like a little city" I think I described it...but once I got past the primal take apart and destroy phase, I did a bunch of research (as much as a 5 year old could do) and got an 8088 processor, a meg of ram, a 10 meg hard drive, and dos 3 or 5, don't remember to well and WordStar 1.0.... I managed through a lot of trial and error to get the computer to work...after that I mostly just messed around with the computer and pretended that I was a cool hacker of sorts. I constantly "broke" the computer and had to reload it. But I personally think the best way for any kid, and what I am going to do with my kids, is to hand them some basic component and let them build and learn everything from scratch...let them be independent. I think in the long run it will help them solve problems better and develop the right way of thinking to fix or learn how to do anything with computers.

You also don't need the program to access their computer( acts as a java webpage if you use a browser). the only problem you may run into then is a firewall. Even if they have a router, half the time the firewall is not even turned on by default( they are calling you, so i doubt they even know it exists). http://www.tightvnc.com/ is the site where you can get the program and it is open source. hope that helps

I believe the MPAA reported something in the range of a billion dollars for overall profit in the industry last month, a new record gross. Yet they are doing poorly? Software companies now must merge? looks like a good excuse to form a bunch of microsofts aka trusts(fat cash cows with no inovation, no competition, and nicely equiped with a perfect scape goats) but digitizable industries are building up resentment and "statistics" all in line for congresses upcoming legistlation against P2P software. ...well, either that or open source software is just plain cleaner, cheaper, and more inovative that anything they could ever accomplish, and is becoming more and more availible to the "user". Quick note: Anti piracy has never been for people who pirate. The only good most anti piracy techniques acomplish is to stop the people(the"user") who usually buy the products from pirating(like previous person said "matter of convience").
