Seriously, anyone with enough time on his hands to find any specific thing with Slashdot's search feature probably hasn't seen the sun in weeks. I bet he knows who delivers the best pizza in town.
The author mentions the desire for cutscenes to be less static and more interactive, citing Metal Gear Solid 3's zoom feature. Looking at Eva's boobs was the only thing I saw anyone ever use it for. Does anyone remember Shenmue's interactive cutscenes? You would sometimes run into situations that would require you to push buttons at the right time a la Parappa the Rapper. Say you were being hassled by some punks, get the sequence right and you lay the smack down, mess up and you get layed out. A lot more interactive than MGS cutscenes. What do you think about a system based on this for cutscenes? Too simplistic? Not appropriate for most types of games?
Other issues were raised with such surprising regularity that one must conclude that virtually all Malicious trolls have both erectile dysfunction and suffer frequent enuresis. The average IQ of this group was 83.
Wow. This is flamebait? Who knew? Why doesn't Malda just admit that handing out moderation privileges to everyone who bothers to register a nickname was a poorly thought out idea and doesn't encourage rational discussion. It's more of a burden, really.
BattleBots? That show is disingenous. Most(all?) of the contestants were not even robots. They're remotely controlled by a team during the battle! Just glorified RC cars with a buzzsaw or something equally ridiculuous bolted to the top. I would love to see a battle of actual autonomous robots.
I just read a comment pointing to this Lego globe that mused how "morbidly appropriate" it was. I went back to the story to reply to him, and...the comment appears to have disappeared. Did someone with the power to do so find the link disturbing and delete the post? I wonder...
Wouldn't this be better as an ask Slashdot peice? Or maybe just post it to an open-source forum that is more geared to answering questions...I hope someone helps you out, but you're likely to be modded offtopic for this(And, well...rightfully so.)
Wow, your post brings up a good point, but few will see it, because a mod found it disagreable, and modded you down, illustrating your point.
I've learned to browse at -1 because of all the ridiculous inappropriate negative mods that seek to silence posts that ruffle their feathers.
I've often wondered - just how is it that the slashdot moderation system is supposed to have a positive effect? It seems like a good idea on the surface, but...if the people posting are the same people moderating, then how are the moderations applied supposed to be any more insightful than the posts?
So which is more desirable in the long run? At least our atmosphere doesn't get more and more cluttered with random junk as time goes by(Well, I mean, macroscopic junk anyway).
Install japanese language support for your operating system. (Start/Settings/Control Panel/Regional Settings in Windows). Yes, it really is a quite trivial thing to do. I have no idea what you are babbling on about paying for japanese fonts. Do you think all native japanese people pay someone to be able to read and write text on their computers?
Nonsense. A hard drive on the shelf, in the safe, whatever, is no more vulnerable than a tape on the shelf. If you left your backup tape mounted all the time, it would be just as insecure as adding a second drive and calling it a "backup."
Now that is funny. Piracy is not the huge drain of revenue for media conglomerates that they would like the general public to beleive. Raising people's awareness of piracy, and making sure that their view of things is the one that is in people's minds makes it easier to introduce things like DRM.
Regardless of piracy, the media corporations want absolute control of the content, and DRM is a step towards this goal. Publishers and producers would still push for DRM, copy protection, et al. if piracy was an order of magnitude less common.
Reminds me of an episode of Sliders I remember from a few years back...all the people in a city worked for this mall or something, they were "encouraged" through media saturation to open up lines of credit through their employer and subconsciously influenced into buying more than they could afford, thus assuring they were eternally in debt and could not leave(i.e. indentured servants, i.e. slaves)
Fucking hilarious. Mods, correct this injustice!
How did that ESA probe get there?
He says no such thing. Read the username.

They're probably worried about it interfering with medical equipment. When you're in a hospital, you don't exactly need to call 911, now do you?

Truly eye-opening...

Wrong story there bub. You want the next one down.

Readers of Slashdot, beware....THIS is what happens to you when you read the Timecube guy's website a wee bit too long.
Ahhh. Yeah, we have those here too. I think we call them wiggers or ricers. Fuckwit will do though. That's universal.
Okay, "Twat" I know, but...please enlighten me, what the fuck is a "chav"? I'm from U.S., never heard that one..

Terran is correct. It's the adjective form of terra, literally "earth" or "land." Terra is in dictionary.com database.

Ummm...what exactly were you expecting when you bought a video game based on a movie based on a children's cartoon?

Is that thing supposed to be manned? Someone make sure to find out if he survives when he tries to make that thing walk...
