Probiotics are going to start being a LOT more useful than antibiotics. If you have a deadly bacteria, the best way to kill it is not to actually kill it with antibiotics (which generally kill everything that's not resistant to it), but kill it by flooding the system with beneficial bacteria that will compete with the harmful ones for resources and eventually starve them out. Antibiotics should only be reserved for cases where they are absolutely necessary, and a probiotic regimin should be prescribed after the antibiotics are done. Antibiotics also tend to kill a lot of beneficial bacteria, leaving a power vacuum where ANYTHING can take over very quickly after the antibiotics are done. Filling the hole with beneficial bacteria before anything else can get in is the best thing to do.

Then I read about it, found out it was Silverlight only, and dismissed my idea to use Netflix at all. I will continue to use bittorrent for my rentals. Hence, their decision to support Silverlight cost them a subscription.

I'm extremely glad I finally ditched Verizon for Sprint 3 months ago. Sprint has better coverage and better service for cheaper. Even though my workplace provides a Verizon discount, Sprint was still cheaper. Not to mention with my Verizon phones I was lucky to even get a signal in the building I'm in. With my Sprint phone I get 3-4 bars consistently (all my coworkers with Verizon have noted this too). The 3 Sprint users here are the only ones that can get a signal without going outside. Anyway, I digress...I'm paying $15/month less with Sprint, unlimited data, unlimited text/pix, 1500 minutes/month, free nights/weekends, nights/weekends starting at 7pm instead of 9pm, than I was with Verizon, with unlimited text, but no pix, no data, and my company discount. Verizon has terrible phones, terrible service, and they are a ripoff in general. I switched on the advice of my roommate, who has had service with Sprint for 6 years and has never had any issues. Neither of us understand why they have a bad reputation.

Don S Davis died last year

Ah that explains why Carter's ship was called the Hammond.

This was explained in the last episode of Atlantis. Carter was given command of the newest BC-304, the Phoenix. In an alternate timeline (see "The Last Man, Atlantis season 4 cliffhanger), it kept this name. That was the last anyone had heard of the ship until the last episode of Atlantis. Carter mentioned to Sheppard that she was being given command of the new ship, he said "the Phoenix?" Then she said "It's being renamed to the George Hammond." Then Sheppard said "Ah, I heard about that." Then Carter said "Yeah, heart attack. He was off-world at the time. He was a great man." So basically, they made Hammond meet the same fate (off-screen) as his actor, and then dedicated the episode (and the new ship) to him. I thought it was very touching myself.

I watched my DVR'd copy last night and was immensely grateful for the "30-second skip" feature.

However...I have to ask. I saw about three minutes of clips with Lou Diamond Phillips when they were on the base. They plastered his name *all over* the ads for that show. I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I do consider him an "B-Level" actor easily. He's always done solid acting and reminds me of a younger Edward J. Olmos and would be a good "anchor" actor for the show.

Did I miss something? I didn't see him make it onto the ship? Did the actor have a falling out with the producers and get edited from the show or something?

    -JJS

He did not. I missed it the first time too, but upon re-watching it (torrent rather than commercial ridden broadcast this time), I saw what became of him. He hopped into a 302 and took off to defend the base from the gliders. He ended up landing on the Hammond and going back to Earth when the planet blew up. He is intended to be a recurring character, who will make appearances when they "travel" back to the SGC via the ancient long range communication device.
