I'm a little bit curious how you would consider someone who wrote that he was proficient in only one language.

Java is pretty much the only language that I feel comfortable enough with to start off coding right away, but I've dabbled into lots of other languages and I'm of the oppinion that anyone with a proper programming background can pick up pretty much any language.

In this case, will it help to write a list of languages I've used (more than copying someone's script :) to show off that I have a broader background than only Java?

I'm a student at that university. Not at that department though so I don't know very much about the project.

However, I saw another demo that had a short explanation. It has three cameras on the side of the car that can spot a free slot. So, when you want to park you say that to the computer and then you drive slowly past the line of cars. When the computer finds a slot that it deems is large enough it tells you to get your hands/feet off the wheel and pedals. Then it proceeds to park.

It actually looked pretty userfriendly and nice. I don't know how small gaps it can manage though.

I definitely think that the same paper paper produced by students with differing talent would get the same grade.
If you try to weigh in how much effort a student have put into a paper, you'd get a very uncertain process.

You would also get a very weird outcome. Namely that a student that works his ass off, but still can't produce papers of the same level as a student who cruises through school would get a higher grade. So, in essence the grade would be based on effort, not on quality, and that I think is absurd.

I'm not very familiar with the US school system, but we have something like accelerated classes (not as clear though, I believe) and I think what you're saying is a problem with them. A student that produces papers that are consistently of a higher quality than the papers from students in the remedial class may get a lower grade just because the other students in his class also are better.

Talk about taking obective judgment away.

IMO grades should show the quality of the work a student has produced, nothing else, and the standard against which the grades should be measured should be a global one, not a local one.
(Then there's the question if grades are a good measurement, but that's another story.)

I say, get over it already. The naming battle is lost and it's just a waste of time and resources to fight it. Focus on the important issues instead.

You can type pretty much as you normally do and it has no problems with recognizing it. There's one thing I tend to get annoyed at though, when typing "round" characters, i.e. o, a, e, etc it quite often interpret those as either a space or a backspace (space is typed by drawing a line from left to right and backspace from right to left).
Also, I've always had pretty light pressure when writing and thus the touch screen sometimes thinks I lift the pen when I don't intend to. All in all I'm happy with my PocketPC though.

It's not like it's anything new to base films on books, it has pretty much always been done.

These movies tend to be successes due to massive marketing (Yeah, yeah, marketing is evil and all that, but it's true nonetheless). There just are so many people who haven't read the books who will think it looks like a cool movie when watching the trailer (I presume the trailers won't suck) and won't care if it follows the book or not.

With some reservations I'm positive to movies based on famous books that succeed because it will make people interested in the books. So, the result is that more people will start reading, which is a good thing.
On a side note: Kudos to Peter Jackson for making LotR close to my imagination. It's just the casting of Agent Smith as Elrond I have a problem with ;)
