on old home computers of the 8 and 16 bit era you can find similar projects. most of the time these had a bus that could replace the main cpu, so some people replace them with fpga's or arms or whatever really. you can then build some supercomputer with it, most of the time producing impressive results.
obviously all these advanced technologies are the right thing to do, and they will be very effective. this couldn't be solved any other way, like adjusting current laws/rights etc
It is how the *nix cli environment is what it is today. it grew as new commands were added that did specific things, by the KISS principle. Sure ifconfig/route/etc don't do all the things we need in todays modern world, that is easily solved by adding specific commands for that missing purpose.
if you want to eat bugs, fine, go ahead, just don't try to force that upon everybody (really, these insect eating people are getting worse then those vegans). protiens can also be had from other things, which are not bugs! i rather eat no meat at all then to replace it with insectburgers. tried it once, it's not for me, never again.
i could have never seen ending this summit very well, it would have been a massive failure for Trump and to cancel it was the best possible option for him.
makes you wonder how all these services are build/managed, it seems they have become so complex and big that nobody knows anymore. it's either that, or the service worked as intended (but in this case i fail to see why they would want it to work like this). we need to take step back and make sure we're still in control before it really gets out of hand with rampant services nobody knows how to control.
give those kids some slack, they're pretty smart (smarter then you think they are, probably) and can use computers just fine. just create a new user on your linux pc and let them go at it. my youngest (8 now, but she was using it as youndgas 6) has no problems doing all the things that are important to her on the pc (starting a browser, playing some music, writing,...)
when i was still in school, me and my friends always had a good laugh about how bad some commercial software was written and how they got away with charging people $20-$100 for their crapfest. then i got a job in IT and had to work with 'enterprise' software and discovered a whole new level of fails and couldn't understand why or how they got so many companies to pay, in some cases, millions for it.
use a small pc, these days you can find enough motherboards with two ethernet connections, and install linux or a bsd on it, done. the pc doesn't even have to be powerfull or be able to run a gui. been doing it this way for 20 years, always up to date with patches, easy to replace and get back running if broken, etc.
this is also great use for those plenty available android boxes, you can have kodi on it and the steam streaming app with a wired interface. it should be easy to use a steam controller with those as you can plug in the dongle into one of the free usb ports you will most likely still have available. i need to test this out, it could mean i no longer need my link.
European taxes have no added value? I rather pay some more taxes and have (almost) free & good healthcare, I rather pay some more taxtes and have (almost) free & good education in place, etc.
have you seen the lifestyle of most of these physically demanding job workers? it is hardly healty and even though they get a lot of excersize most of them also don't look very muscular or thin.
"One of the most challenging aspects of running a modern software repository is just making sure that the published software is indeed only doing what it’s supposed to. In the classic Ubuntu repositories, we have the great privilege to work only with software built on trusted infrastructure, from source. That has obvious advantages but also requires a very long time for new bits to show up for millions of users."
who ever want to give up a trusted environment for less security? if you know what you are doing you can already do this (without the need for snaps), but otherwise, it is just a bad idea.
just like a monitoring systems that beeps every few seconds and alerts on eveything which is in some cases important, it will be ignored by its users. in that case, why keep it running, just turn it off.
Amazon is so big now that it is impossible to compete. They just take the loss, in the grand scheme of things, it's hardly a loss in their balance books. But as a competitor you won't be able to do the same without having to close doors.
Just block them all! Then you will have a 100% success rate, and when you actually want it to play, just press the play button, it's doesn't require much effort.
and they say linux is the OS that is not user-friendly.
wasn't always this bad?
you just described windows how it has always been. it's been a pos for as long as i know it.

it's no longer an option now.
they even have their own GUI upon Android (MUI).
if i can't flash it and run a standard Android, no thanks
exactly this!

Not only that, but if you use the 'enterprise' version of PostgreSQL, you even get an oracle compatibility layer.

i really rather would like to see a movie about General Ackbar.

maybe not take any pictures (of videos) of yourself that you don't want anybody else to see.
sounds like a much simpler plan to me.

and the worst part? it isn't getting any better!

yes, but then you'll have those guys who believe the earth is shaped like a donut to convince they are wrong.
You get to run Linux AND Android applications on your chromebook.
Suddenly this little laptop of little interest is getting very interesting.
