Yes, and since i have steambox for gaming, i mostly am gaming indies because they are the best represented on that platform (there are also AAA, but not like on windows where you get 10 of those each month).
Anyway, my steambox is by far the best 'console' i've had for a long time. the games are fun and oiginal or at least try something different or new.
these are not the typical games, but short simple affairs. just check the article on google's new project arcade. the first game will be some trivia thingy, fine for a phone and will kill those 2 minutes you had while waiting in a queue somewhere or the 10 minute bus ride. why not catch up on the news or read a book instead, i don't know, because people are lazy and easily entertained?
yes, but how is vinyl not affected by the loadness wars. as noted, all the mastering and mixing is done digital. it is then transfered to whatever medium - cd, vinyl, streaming/conpressed digital format,... so they all have the same source and should sound the same within the limits of the medium they are on.
something like this is already in place in limited practise, some people get on a black list of xyz for some reason, or aren't allowed/selected for job interviews. you will never know why this happens to you, because these lists are 'secretive'.
for me price had hardly anything to do with the reason i don't have cable tv anymore.
1. there is nothing interesting on, reality rubbish, reruns after reruns of old stuff, soaps, idol contest type of things. 2. ads at the beginning, in the middle & at the end and then ads between the ads, and ads about ads... horrible, just like browsing the web without an adblocker.
what Stallman and other technologists MUST come to grasp is that most people fundamentally do not value privacy much at all, so they are willing to trade it away for nearly anything.
I don't think that is true, however there are different levels of privacy which people are willing to give up or not care about. but at a certain point everybody cares about some level of privacy.
Seriously. Every other OS get's an easy 8 hours out of todays regular portable hardware, only Linux barely scrapes 4 hours... Windows, macOS and even Chrome have been on top of this for the better part of a decade and the Linux kernel still wastes gobs of energy.
there is much more licesed content available at this point, so the choice is bigger and the chance that you watch licensed content is higher. for me, i think it's 50/50, i find the netflix shows very good and mostly only watch licensed content together with my wife.
we'll be hearing a lot of 'good' news from these facial recognition camera's in china in the next few months. just to prove how good they are making the world a safer, nicer place to live in. don't expect them to tell you what other privacy invading things they are doing with it.
i think this is a great idea, but as you said, the distance is too short. but what if you would put those chargerroads in highly congested places? instead of 5 minutes, it would take 30, 40 or even more minutes to cross and that should be plenty of time to charge the batts to a reasonable level.
you don't need to buy anything, you install it on your gaming pc you already have, on a second drive so you don't have to overwrite your current install. steamos is made for sofa, living room gaming. you don't need a keyboard, it can't get easier then that. why isn't steamos a success? because people don't see the benefit, more AAA games on windows and nothing to pull them towards steamos in specific. i didn't have a windows gaming pc, i gamed on consoles because linux didn't have many new games (lot's of OSS and retro games though). so when steam because available, steamos was a good choice for me. i don't care about AAA titles, i care about fun games, and indie offers just that plenty.
except for the fact that MS is using OSS in their products. OK, that is nothing new, but worth repeating. the other news is ofcourse they are using it wrong and thus introducing errors/bugs into their products. and lastly, the headline makes it sound as-if it's all the fault of OSS, while the opposite is true.
what are you talking about? In 1997 you already has most of the distro's that are still around today; redhat (not RHEL), suse, debian, slack, etc. plenty choice! and let's not talk about the more obscure, now long forgotten distro's, like the first I tried - Ygdrassil.
what the hell is wrong with these windows users. don't use it, plain and simple, not as if it is the only email client in the world. as if the ads weren't bad enough already (why? does MS need the extra money, really?), you have more bugs then should be normal. just install thunderbird and be done with it, never look at this crazy default windows mail client again - there is NO reason to use it.
don't give me that BS about it being installed by default blahblahblah. lot's of people find & use chrome, even worse, lot's of people are 'smart' enough to install crapware on their pc without any help.
facebook is big, the amount of compute and storage required are gigantic, i've worked in large data centers, but even those will be nothing compared to theirs. but, i can't imagine nobody is noticing all this wasted disk space?

they keep using android, and just add their own store, which just copies over all the apk's from the google play store and done.

cool that we can do this, but why? can't you just wear sunglasses, i bet that's a cheaper option.

you do know that chromeOS uses the linux kernel?

i go to bed late, but get up real early.
so that evens out!

what is next; HD laserdisc?

just to rejoin a few weeks/months later.
best advice for everything - don't overdo it.
drinking too much water can kill you.
doesn't mean we all should suddenly stop drinking water.
because the 'leaked' data was used to influence an election?
now release the rest of the windows 3.1 sourcode.

true, now you try to do the same with their software!
but it is our own fault.
