just like in real life, it pays to be multi langual. yes, i would pick up java, the (oss) ecosystem is fantastic. but i would also take a language on the side.
been like this for years, but you don't notice. the garage does it for you during your maintenance. at least with a tesla you get the update right away, much better.
and still much better then those people who bought nike shoes (yes, a shoe) and buggered up their firmware with an update.
when i heard the news i was all excited, that excitement lasted for a few seconds when they said that each country was going to able to choose what they'll want to do for themselves.
really? that is not what we wanted.
now you'll have countries that will not have dst, other will still have it, some will use a different dst then what they have now, and there are even some countries thinking about having something in the middle. and all of these could be neighbouring countries, you could travel from denmark to italy and cross 6 different time zones. that is actaully worse then having an EU wide dst, at least that was something everybody used.
people wonder why are todays computers, which are so powerful, so slow? well, this is the answer, first you have code running trying to identify who you are, then you have code running that tries to trick the other code detection mechanism. many cpu cycles are lost.
cpu cycles are not the only wasted resource, mind you. there is also somebody coding all this stuff, which otherwise perhaps could have been implementing really cool things.
is it stated somewhere in the oscar rules that a movie must have had a theatrical release? what are the actual rules for a movie to be allowed? if netflix movies tick all those boxes, include them. if you don't agree with that, well, then you must revise your oscar rules, so that it becomes clear and there is no confusion who can compete and who can't. unless they do that, excluding netflix is unfair.
it's the online effect, there will always be some rotten apples in the bunch. there have been many small, great indie games that had to stop their online part because of abuse by a small part of gamers.
if you want to avoid that, play single player games. but then people think they are boring, like rdr2.
even when i didn't have a job yet and could spend almost every waking hour on whatever i wanted, i still didn't have enough time to do all the things i wanted to do. this hasn't improved with getting a job, wife & kids, house,... you'll always have to make choices what to do with your free time, i don't understand how there are people who are bored.
They only look to iTunes to come to this conclusion? Maybe +5 years ago this was a somewhat ok-ish approach, but these days? So many more and better (and cheaper) sites are available to purchase & download music from.
yesterday's article about gab providing the ability to have comments for every page on the internet in mind, it doesn't matter anymore if your site allows comments or not. except ofcourse, that youtube can now wash their hands in denial as it's no longer their problem.
just forget about owning a car in the future, that is something that will disappear soon. they want you to rent/lease a car, not buy it. when the lease/rent is over, replace with a newer model that will be available by then. it also comes with android-auto build in, so if you want privacy this is also not the car for you (but see the last paragraph of tfa, almost all other brands will be releasing android-auto cars very soon).
it's a sad state of affairs, because people who care about ownership, right to repair and privacy will cling on to 'old' cars, but there is a great chance that you will be punished by your gov to hold on to an old car for 'environmental' reasons.
all to say, that for cars like this, 10 years worth of updates won't be needed.
one of the reasons why windows is a pain to use, it's not just the update errors that are cryptic, almost every error is cryptic. i noticed that on windows 10 you get a button called 'troubleshoot' (or something like that), but it never finds or solves anything.
if you had CD's back then, wouldn't you have made a mix-CD instead of a tape? nice story, but it doesn't mean anything except that you used what was available at the time. kids these days probably make playlists and share those, and i will tell them how CD's are so romantic because i made several mix'es on them.
How do those facebook moderators get the details of the Cognizant workers that they are able to track them down and threathen them? At least hide the identities so they don't need to worry about what crazy people might do to them for reviewing their posts.
why punish the video, while the commenter is the one who should be blamed. wouldn't it be easier to set a time limited (or permanent) commect ban on that id?
basically you could build a bot right now that makes sure everything on youtube get demonetized.
they are no longer interested in your data, they want to have an army of remote controlled bots.
just like in real life, it pays to be multi langual.

collect all those rare files and put them on a cloud, because, you know, then they will be saved forever!

except for german autobahn there is nowhere i can drive legally faster then 130mph.
even the 5.6 second accel is way too fast (for most people).
i don't feel like spending the rest of my life riding around the planet on a train, we've all seen snowpiercer.
nike putting mcafee on their shoes?!

i'm again using cassette's to store all my programs written in basic on.
who needs the cloud?

"Twitter "succeeded in diverting consumers away from BlackBerry's products and services""
Yes, because every time when i use twitter, i keep thinking - man, this sure looks & feels a lot like my blackberry.
When i think blackberry, i think of a stupid enterprise phone of yesteryear used for exchange mail, not twitter.
faxes!

A good movie or series is a good movie or series, no matter where it's being made.
who would have thought?
why punish the video, while the commenter is the one who should be blamed.
wouldn't it be easier to set a time limited (or permanent) commect ban on that id?

please stop calling it a security chip.
the only thing it secures is a bunch of benefits for Apple, not for the user.
