As for the solar car, I do agree it is far probable the math was not up to par( being the market back then was not as strong as today's in that field) Being in touch with ICP global, I am aware of a few ongoing solar techniques. Of these many new techniques, with more efficiency on the power genereation and storage, as well as no true electric car is purely just solar....you need to plug in as well, the solar part is purely to extend the life of the battery.
There is a new silicno based paint that absorbs the solar energy put out by the sun, and should this paint be applied to cover 100% of the car as opposed to a partial tally of the car, you get a much improved power production.
Combining these new technologies would still end up with a fortified version of the same patent, thereby, constituting the need for these patents in the beginning. If the car does not fully work except to pass a patent test....then the proto-type is there for that.
Ok, we both agree the proto type is not as efficient as today's market, but that is one of the many cars that have been mentioned in that article. How about i give you an idea off the top of my head...for a car that runs itself with almost no power source other then momentum. Kinetic energy. You hear me.....with all the levers and pulleys, it is possible to get a watch to run with no battery....you just need to wind it once in a while...so let's say that we could develop efficiency in establishing the system needed to run 12 alternators...or maybe even 20 alternators on the same car, using these gears and lever methods...so now you have a self powered car per say, with a battery that charges as you move....the more you move the more energy you reproduce.
The idea is simple, yet the patent exists and no one is pushing the technology, imagine we don't even need solar energy. So I ask you, no....I implore you to show me proof otherwise, when the car industry has pushed its technology to the edge to develop the most economical car.... when has Ford, brought out a motor that gets 500miles to the gallon.....why do we always hear only some underground development, when Frd having 1gazillion engineers at their disposal, can only come up with something once Obama has a gun to their heads?
Simple...money...they get kickbacks from the oil companies by pushing oil driven cars. Why do we still bring out big SUVs when we keep talking about global warming and new energy source being a must....because someone on top is still taking in money in their back pocket, just like when someone comes out with an engine that takes 2litres of water and recycles the water it uses... steam....can make an engine go for miles....yet we don't hear Ford working on steam engines.... even though water is the most plentiful source we have.

GM files for bankruptcy yet gave their CEOs 20million in bonuses, why...did they deserve it? I choose my firefox addons, not M$, and who is to say what that new addon really does, and once it's been installed, maybe there is something in the addon, that will never leave the registry or the PC, maybe it might be microsoft, trying their hand at a firefox logger trying to log all firefox activity to see why FF is now the prefered client, hell......now I guess I have no choice but to get Lynx!

Then only on evenings and week ends...now, I do not have the t7 gear all my buds do, but i do 8k crit dps, you go ahead tell me that I am a newb that doesn't know how to play....I will laugh, tell me you did what i did in 20 days, I will laugh even harder!

I am embittered everyday, I may be suffering from this new ailment, or I could be like the rest of the global population and temporarily feel like this until, I pick myself back up again, and start again on something different. Yeah, one problem, what if I have a few alts, that are all working for you without you knowing its just one person, then after awhile, some competitor offers me a big wad to bring you down, suddenly, 15 key position employees in your company outright resign, leaving you to scramble, and eventually go bankrupt because you did not quite know you had all your eggs in one basket.
I am all for working from home (being a software developer...i don't need to be in the office)... but i do see pitfalls to what you suggest. The whole up and out process too, helps avoid shackfever.
