No, what we should do is force more people to have solar powered alternatives to energy, also providing with extra unused wattage, so that in a failure situation, segregating the power grids to their local areas which in turn had plenty of its own producing juices to maintain a working level, could help reduce such possibilities, but again, the government isn't taking this seriously enough to push incentives across the board to all home owners to adopt the new technology.
Imagine that we had such worries about what time we used our washers or dryers or even air conditioners. Imagine also how much less demanding on the grid it would be should such a situation arise, they could cut here or there to limit the damages, send crews to fix the problem or restart their servers whatever the cause, and then rejoin the main grid.
Sure, if the person is usually with a slow metabolism, it takes a long period before bringing the metabolism up especially in obese, people, however, the diet did not change, so if this person was consuming 3000 EXTRA calories that they could not burn before the exercise, and only did 1200 calories of exercise, then there is still an overabundance of calories that is being stored.
You have to combine exercise AND diet to make the person lose weight, you can not have just one. They wasted their money doing this study, and we let them waste taxpayer dollars for this...jesus! Any trainer worth their salt, tells you its a 2 part process diet and exercise.
You need to balance the food incoming equal to maintaining and or losing weight, some people even want to GAIN weight... so each person needs a customized program, and can not just use a generic program without knowing what they are doing.
Do they not ask for your code as you do a request to be included into the apple iphone app store, then if anyone really bothered to read the code and what it does, such is the job of a security analyst at their submissions department, then they would have caught this code, and would not have allowed such a game to be inserted into the iphone to begin with.
They have a process making it hard visibly only for coders to get their apps in, but guess what, each subsequent version upgrade, should go through the same rigorous process. This is Apple's fault only, and user's should be compensated for the lack of follow through on Apple's side.
Oh, well, now I don't trust Apple anymore, good thing, I was just about to go get myself an iphone too, guess I will just stick with my palm treo.
Who is the worst jack*ss here? The blind guy who is bringing Sony to court because their games are not made for the visually impaired, or for the courts to actually go through with this case and let it proceed???
This is like the blind guy bringing the government or state to court for not allowing him to drive or making visually impaired friendly vehicles....no sh*t sherlock, YOU CAN'T SEE!!!
You won't know when your *ss is getting kicked on Call of Duty either because the beeps are "special beeps", you won't SEE the screen!!! Come on, where is common sense gone to these days?
Well I gues mr.moneybags, that's the difference between us, I could send you a screenshot (ctrl+printscreen)...but I wont bother... as I can tell you seem a little too close minded to hear what someone is saying other then your own opinion.
I have no other games I play at the moment except WoW, and I plan to not have any other until I finish WoW...(lvl100)...because I am that cheap.
I am a bit too old to be wasting money on games , more then about 100$ per year...is enough for me...so WoW gobbles all that up pretty easily.
I say this smells a lot like BS on their part, it would be easier to just lie about a passing bird flying over and dropping something, even though I have never seen a bird fly over top of something that would be such a big noise generator, and also even try traveling with something in their mouths that they so want to eat, they would avoid that like the plague.,....but who am I to talk about this, god knows the people in charge of this project would own up to some miscalculation no their part should they be given the chance.
>The resulting chaos is a yet another stark reminder of how much modern civilization relies on behind-the-scenes >automation to deliver and control basic services and infrastructure No the real problem is the fact that someone decided that keeping a computer from 1970 running till today to run the traffic system!!! We have dual core processors for 300$ at futureshop, seriously, what could ever make someone decide to leave such an old system in place to run things....hopefully they learned their lesson, and will be installing the new technology soon.
Maryland county people should ask for the city council to report back any other such situations to pass a vote on whether to replace all the aging technology!
I agree, but blizzard having made over close to a billion dollars off this game alone, with all the expansions, and time cards etc...etc... I have to say, when I have an issue and they tell me to just live with it, or when the server is down for a couple of days, and they do not bother giving a few extra days to your account to compensate, I have to say I am pretty darn furious, they are greedy, and the fact they keep milking their players trying to limit the lvls per expansion....what gives.
All I got to say, is the whole DK starting at lvl 55 once you have a lvl 80, they should have made that for all other classes too...I feel like its taking forever to bring up another alt to lvl 80, and I do not have the free time to spend on alts, let alone on my main...
I cough up the price per month to play, but seriously, being in a recession, they could have maybe added more stuff to the game for the long time players to be able to maybe get a little more fun out of the game, everything is more geared towards getting new players only...not taking care of their old and loyal ones..
Most with a normal life and a girlfriend they intend on keeping, don't play more then that, else they look like addicts.... and yes I still plan on getting cataclysm....next wow expansion... I may get a splinter cell MMO or hitman MMO if they ever come out with one, however, I have been playing WoW exclusively for the last 3 years now, with much enjoyment, but without touching any other games, as I just a have no more time then that to play.
ps- before you reply again about the time spent playing = a REAL player... There was a guy that let his 2 year old kid drown in the tub because he could not pull away long enough from WoW to give his kid a bath...if this is what you mean by a real player, then you are right I am not a real player...but if you mean by being able to raid Ulduar, or Oxyia with my fellow guild mates until 1 am in the morning cuz we are just having so much fun, then I guess you are wrong, and I am a real player
Most expensive video game, you dolt. As for pricing, I guess in your neck of the woods, but I am telling you what spending is like HERE, in my neck of the woods, no, expansion packs are 50$ until 1 year has passed minimum, so the real hardcore players that all have their friends raiding within the first week, all the new raids and dungeons make you feel like your totally useless if you can't help out on the raids, so you go and buy the expansion that same week (not a year later when it is at 20$ as you say).
I guess it also depends what servers you are transferring from or changing your name on, because the server I am on, is costing me 25$ for a name change, 25$ for a faction change and 25$ for a server transfer, if you want to come to my house and see the WoW webpage, then your welcome to come over, but please don't try to debunk my info, when I have it here in front of me, kk?
I just dont use adobe products anymore, either flash, or shockwave, are too seriously integrated into our pcs, that when the day comes that skynet is self aware, that will be the first application it looks to to take over all pcs around the world....have we not learned anything from terminator?
I know the game is far from over, but I have seen the start of a movement of people just fed up of playing so much for so long, and wanting something different...WoW had its day, and even though I am a die hard fan, have my account and play alost everyday (.5 to 1.5 hours) I have to say I think WoWs days are limited, they are taking too much time between expansions (being the limit for lvling is rumored to be 100) so the next expansion is lvl 80 - 85, instead of the usual 10 lvls.....I think this is a mistake on their part, trying to milk even more money from their already broke players.
25$ character transfer, 25$ character name change, then 15$ per month to play, 50$ per expansion or game.....it adds up quick as being the most expensive game to play EVER. If they would relax on certain issues such as 25$ name change or server change, but put a cap like max 1 every 6 months or something like that...people might be interested in trying out different servers, or factions, or maybe someone has gotten a bad rap, so the name change gives them a new slate to make new friends again...
The Chinese want to try and make money on the WoW economy, yet they do not understand they are maybe 3 years too late. WoW will have problems getting to lvl 100 with keeping players interested. The latest world events is a cool concept, but not enough to keep players plugging 15$ per month....for the same content.
Like battlestar galactica, they need the computers onboard to do their work, but they don't need clustered networked environment. They don't need super hardcore stuff up there, yet! So just keep it simple, stupid (KISS)....makes everything easier on everyone. Now, they need a more home based system up there and not a corporate scuzi drive raid set up, follow? They need to back up their medias, but they dont need raid, they need 100% access, but they dont need networked. They need to have access to their info and sometimes things fail, like the server, what do they need a server for, even if they have 2 or 3 networked computer, you can share stuff through the network without a server....???
I really do not understand why they make things so complicated, when I have 100% run time at home, with no down time, and don't run servers....so I am sure the real hardcore engineers, that thought this thing up, should be able to do so as well, no?
Well, yes seeing as the whole purpose to upgrade is to be able to have little or no security issues, and no need for AV. Cancel or allow, so what, it is bypassed, so I will just stick with XP seeing as I already have my license and already have my Av on it.
M$ needs to come out with an OS that has no possibility of being owned by a virus, sort of like linux does, linux only has rootkits. Sysinternals is good for rootkit detection and is owned (now) by M$, so if they could tweak their OS to be more like linux, we would all be in a safer place.
Malware is the infected OS fault for not being a good system from the get go, and M$ is guilty of that for sure, but also, we know Linux is free and no one wants to pay for this stuff, so if M$ really wanted to force a whopping move and force to shut down all pirated copies, you would have an overnight movement so big towards linux, that the market shares would probably be more like 50/50.
For all the pirated copies you still take those into consideration for counting market shares (M$ does), then you add to the fact , these people doing this do no want to spend money or else they would have legal copies, says they probably would not buy a copy of windows, but download linux.
If M$ was smart, they should offer for 19.99$ a one time transfer of all patches and updates, to all users that need them (obviously the pirates) and say no strings attached, then once they have the emails, and had their money , send not only the patches that make the internet safer for EVERYBODY, but also be able to use their emails to advertise why they should buy a legal copy of windows...hell, if they came out with cool stuff all the time like Apple IPhones, Windows would sell itself, no?
Problem is M$ is too greedy. Think about it, all pirated version are now patched and M$ has 19.99$ * each pirated copy, for future development. That would get them easily a 10 million copies of windows * 20.00 = 200 million easy...without doing anything but making the internet safer.
Balmer sucks, that's why M$ is the way they are.....stop throwing chairs, and start thinking with your head!
Pathetic attempts on their part to stomp out a technology they do not understand or even acknowledge as being a GOOD technology, and even to this day, could have imposed laws essential to some people paying taxes on top of that for downloads of this sort, make them legal and followed and tagged, who knows...but what they are doing now sure is not working, and this is the proof.
However, the same laws and protections should apply, seeing as this person had proof, and brought light to certain aspects of an otherwise severely hidden process, to which I would say is exactly what journalism is about....except that FOX news, has the big budget and the strings, should any of their reporters be endangered covering a story they can actually spend to protect or prosecute those that would want to harm their employees.
>Why the heck isn't someone reaming out the employee/staffer who used his government computer system for personal use Because, like most politicians, he was good at covering his ass, and in this case, probably said something to the effect of, I had no control over it, it just started downloading on its own, when we all KNOW that you can configure your limewire, or utorrent to only include certain folders to share. People like this give p2p a bad name, and yet linux and m$ both have been using it to improve their downloads for patches and updates. P2P is not the enemy, misguided users are.
Of course though, people use this to catapult into a debate about P2P and torrent technology, not knowing how it works, and plan to ban the use of these apps....what non sense!!
Why do they need more power, they already control too much, I find this is just another way for them to go after certain cases and generate more legal revenue. I tend to think that a parent(s) know when their child has too much tv, so telling me they can sue the parents for allowing their kids to watch too much TV (a form of child abuse) is beyond what they should have the ability to do.
The FCC was needed way back when technology was being introduced to households, and most households were ignorant to too many facts and stats needed to make a proper assessment, but now we have multi-media outlets and internet and iphones. To get the facts, we don't need a governing body to rule us...we can rule ourselves. The kids of today are light years brighter technology wise then yesterday's kids. They know how to use a microwave at the age of 8 (or so) without being stupid (unless the parents were stupid and the transfer is unavoidable). They know how to text and use cell phones at 10, and can carry one in school at 12,13, so that in any instance, they can contact authorities should they need.....yeah today's kids need less codling and more eye opening teachings.
Under who's law, if their servers and business is in India, then the Swedes have no rights to force them to, especially, if TPB have been moving their servers, non stop...who's to say which country it's in now... I really hate the government trying to make an example out of the guys that are not responsible at all for something so big, yet the government really does not realize they should shut down the internet in order to stop piracy!!!
It's like the electric companies taking the city to court for allowing a band of citizens from using solar panels to get their electricity. Seriously, they are way too greedy, and need to be reminded how this works. If citizens bought the optic fiber and lay it down at their cost from house to house, to share within their own network , the advantage of using optic fiber, then so be it, how can you say they do not have the right, especially if it was voted on and passed as a bill by the council themselves. They make the rules about what goes into the ground in the city, not the telcom companies.
I so agree with your point of view, however, in this baneful existence, we need both sides. We need management to be further dependent on IT staff as they are technology savvy and are top notch when it comes to helping them with their palmpilot etc... You will always see the low end get taken by those in the higher levels, as we are replaceable in their eyes. Problem is, they are right....as much as we think those idiots are worthless, to get the client to be relaxed enough to hand over a multi-million dollar account over to you (your company) and do all its advertising bla,bla,bla... takes a lot of charisma, and tact, get them to willingly bend over to get a carrot their so you can overcharge them for something they don't really need, takes a lot of talent as well....lol
We would be better off if some of our nerds were to grow up, and make the change themselves to become those upper management types. I would so love to see some of my colleagues become my boss as they have amazing kung fu prowess programming, and yet would be able to understand all the reasons I explain to them why something is not working or needs fixing. The router went down again, because it sucks, we need a new one , equipped to handle higher bandwidth....sure buy one now so we stop having these crashes...instead of company budget does not allow it, fix it and then come see me for your next project, would be a thing of the past.
The problem is none of our geeks are able to transition nicely from on to the other. Too many are stuck behind a screen 24/7 to be able to socially interact with the clients on a comfortable level. I am looking to maybe climb this ladder myself in the future, but know it will be a hard road to travel....lots of changes in mentality to see the bigger picture need to happen.
>What remains a mystery is what Paleolithic brewery provided the catalyst for these stone age hook-ups... Really, a great mystery, let me help you solve it, how about the same reason people has sex with animals, or children, because they are perverts?
Really, how is me saying that trying to blow up the moon is not a good idea, especially because we really have never done something like it, and don't know how it will REALLY turn out, we are just guesstimating....a crazy thing??? I think what is crazy is that people a ) think the US has the right to do this, what if every other nation decided the same, because the moon belongs to all the countries and not just the US....that sure would mean a smaller moon now would it not? b ) think that blowing up or sending stuff from orbit crashing into the moon is a great way to see what happens...I could say I want to see how your face might stop the impact of a flying shoe, just to see what happens, and yet I am sure your argument would be, we don't need to find out, we can imagine... c ) the tides and climate are directly affected by the moon (the rise and flow of the tides...read it up) and to do stuff to the moon that might make things even more CRAZY ( your favorite word) as it's not already crazy enough with all the global warming....no let's pile on even more, by chancing a slight accident because the calculations MAY have been wrong, and it's only once we have done this, that we go..."oh, look at that, i forgot 1 decimal place....ooops".
So no, I do not think my idea is crazy, in fact i think I am the sane one here trying to bring light to the issues such as these. I wait at a red traffic light that stay on without changing sides for 5 minutes at night without any real traffic, and i think to myself, they should have had sensor plates under the pavement to know when cars are waiting, and have some sort of semi AI intelligence built into the damn lights....but that is a CRAZY idea too right, because I thunk it??? My impatience at the lights spawned this idea, and I have CRAZY ideas, so I guess I must be CRAZY, CRAZY,CRAZY.......

I really hate the government trying to make an example out of the guys that are not responsible at all for something so big,
yet the government really does not realize they should shut down the internet in order to stop piracy!!!
The problem is the MS bus is the same bus you send to pick up those special kids with....
We need management to be further dependent on IT staff as they are technology savvy and are top notch
when it comes to helping them with their palmpilot etc...
We would be better off if some of our nerds were to grow up, and make the change themselves to become those
upper management types.
I think what is crazy is that people ... ...read it up) and to do stuff to the moon that might make things even more CRAZY ( your favorite word)
a ) think the US has the right to do this, what if every other nation decided the same, because the moon belongs to all the countries and not just the US....that sure would mean a smaller moon now would it not?
b ) think that blowing up or sending stuff from orbit crashing into the moon is a great way to see what happens...I could say I want to see how your face might stop the impact of a flying shoe, just to see what happens, and yet I am sure your argument would be, we don't need to find out, we can imagine
c ) the tides and climate are directly affected by the moon (the rise and flow of the tides
as it's not already crazy enough with all the global warming....no let's pile on even more, by chancing a slight accident because the calculations MAY have been wrong, and it's only once we have done this, that we go..."oh, look at that, i forgot 1 decimal place....ooops".
