    Or Akonadi/Nepomuk in KDE4. There's a lot of metadata that you can attach to your files and documents to make it easier to search in the future.

    You could also release new features once a quota of donations was reached (there was a story on /., I can't remember the name of the prominent writer who did the same with one of his novels). Or you could collaborate with companies to customise your software for their needs.

    You give them your money, help them transfer it, and they promise to pay you a large dividend. An easy way for the law enforcement to lead to the scammers!
