  1. Re:Would it be inappropriate.... on Senate Fails To Reauthorize Patriot Act Provisions · · Score: 0, Flamebait

You forget in the world we live in everything corrupt. The church is full of power hungry child molesters (maybe a little too trollish, but bare with me), we've got to the point where people can communicate on mass, so we learn how to control this mass. We manipulate it to sell crap, whore people and basicly make a society of "us" (the minions) and "them" (people with power).

The church had this power for hundreds of years, so people flocked to it who wanted power. Now these same people have bred through the generations and taught the kids to "be the best, horde money and power". They kept doing it untill this generation where it really did get to an insanely inbalanced level. The imbalance is now so strong they are all but untouchable, so with the mentality they have they're going to do whatever they like and "obviously" they're right, because "might is right" in the society we live in.

These same people have corrupted the churchs ideals. So instead of it being "love thy neighbour" "Untill you're perfect STFU about someone who isn't". It's instead "screw everyone, I'm right and God says the same", these people also happen to be the loudest and the dumbest..

These people encourage others to be "the same", where they forget knowledge and horde money instead. Which breeds idiotic minions.. the numbers of idiots now far outweighs the smart people.. so these rich idiots get twice as much power and an army to manipulate..

So adding everything up (sorry it's a bit of a mess, I'm ill and can't think straight). The corrupt are now in charge, the church over the years has been very corrupt and got to a state where it's not at all like it should be. Society is now suffering the same ignorance and hatred.. they're happy in their ignorance and keep being encouraged to follow it..

So corrupt religion + corrupt ideals = God loves me, he wants me to do what I'm doing.. These people don't know any better, we should pity them really..

    Sorry but no.

In the UK we have a 2 (maybe 3 if you laugh long shots) party system. All the other parties get no TV time and voring for any of them is a waste of a vote. I personally threw my vote away on one of these parties because I refused to vote for either of the main two (one was run by a slimy asshole and the other is the current government who are also slimy assholes).

Honestly in the world we live in, 1 vote is worthless. People cannot compete with TV and any who try usually end up on the wrong end of a major smear campaign. The government repeatedly go illegal things (David Blunkett anyone?) yet get away with it because no one can honestly stand up to them.

Power has shifted in the world. 9/11 made the mass public afraid of every little bump in the night. Have you ever tried to calm down a child who's terrified of the boogie man? It just doesn't work, you can clam him for a moment, but the second you leave his side he freaks out again. Now try and calm down entire countries..

Governments have all the power, all the laws to make you disappear and now they're watching your every move. This isn't democratic in any sense, it's comming up to 1984 and people are letting it happen because "politics are boring".

Merchandise makes money but the biggest amount of money comes from showing the film it's self and then DVD release. If you ignore both of these then you instantly have a VERY large amount of cash vanishing. More often that not it's the cinema's showing it which makes the money to make the next film (and pay for this one).

If they re-release it at a cheap price fanboys will buy one and people who arn't too keen on consoles because they're so expensive could pick up a dreamcast dirt cheap and a handful of second hand games for less then it takes for the kids to goto the cinema.

This is a pretty spiffy idea.. I'd like to see the Dreamcast mark 2 come out, it truely is a legendary console that deserves more love than it got.

  16. Re:Anyone seen it yet? on Behind the Scenes of Narnia's Special Effects · · Score: 1

Tom in a way showed that not every powerful person was running around playing toy soldiers. That some people just weren't involved at all. The elves leaving the land for example probably don't care much for middle Earth. Everyone in the films is all "Sauron is teh evil we must kills him!" or "weeee we live in little trees, arn't we cool!?", it failed to show the world didn't revolve around the war.

The biggest problem is how they dumbed down Pippin and Merry. There really was no need for it what so ever, you really can't see a single trace of the original book in the film characters. That's where my biggest gripe comes, Merry and Pippin just arn't Merry and Pippin in the films.

I think I may already know the change, isn't it about Saruman?

The casting also bugs me some what.. Legolas is just far too clunky in the films. I know theres restraints because we're all human, but Legolas in the films doesn't seem able to run across snow drifts..

LotRs really isn't what people sing and shout about. The only reason it did so well was they did the battle scenes well (hard to argue with 10,000 Orcs going to war really). Something which was a very minor part of the book was made huge in the film.

The cuts I remember I have no real problem with, but the characters just arn't right in the film. The characters are only 50% of the book though, the world and land scape is very much a large part and the film got them right.

My points do seem rather all over the place. Sorry for that but hopefully you can see what I mean. They're fine films, they're just not LotRs.

  17. Re:Anyone seen it yet? on Behind the Scenes of Narnia's Special Effects · · Score: 1

LotRs done right? Oh yea, nice to see Tom appear and all.. not like it wasn't an important part of the book..

The film totally cuts out the fact that it's not some insanely fast journey. They made it seem like Aragorn and Gandalf knew everything, the hobbits knew where they were going and generally everyone was a merry little party who was off for a brief wander. Any danger was removed untill it was instantly upon them and any time they had to relax wasn't shown at all, so it seemed they'd go for a brief wander towards Mordor, get attacked then repeat.

I've seen the first 2 films and I'm currently reading through the second book (well 4th book, Frodo just met the Gondorian troops and Sam met his Oliphaunt). Comparing it to the films to me is just just fair on the books. The films arn't bad but they're clearly nothing compared to the books. I'd call them remakes at best, the same way you have like king kong now.. it roughly follows, but it's just not as good as the originals and never will be. Stand alone they're good, but they don't live up to the names.

I doubt I'll see the third film any time soon, but if the chance arises it's unlikely I'll turn it down. But still I won't go searching for it..
