Check the link and read the line above the hard rule. Get the joke already... XP
I never said Chavez was the only one, my gripe here is over poorly disguised propaganda.
You might want to loosen your tinfoil hat a bit. I think your getting a bit too much exposure to the paranoia waves.
Besides, you don't whine nearly as much if you already have your passport.
Nor if you read _all_ of the things about REALID.
It will be as pain(ful/less) as renewing your drivers license.
Blame gets us nowhere.
If we do nothing then it's all wasted breath.
When we don't like a representative we need to make a ruckus to tell our fellow citizens that that person has not help our situation and needs to be removed.
Too bad you feel it's over, 'cause you've lost then.
I wont give up.
An election (for both President and Senate) is coming up also,
you should pay attention for who best supports your purposes.
Vote for him/her.
We need Libertarian / Constitutionalists minded representatives (note: not politicans)
(Yes we need them now! but the election is in 2008)
Authortarianism (run following interests backed by Big Businesses) has ran rampant in this Congress for 7 years too long.
It is the very thing Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us about.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
Also you might want to tell (see also: annoy the hell out of...) your congressmen that you don't like (RealID/register-within-48-hours/prolonged-conflic t/corporate-monopolies).
Why does replies like this read like Ministry of Truth propaganda. I see it here on Slashdot, BBC, Digg, and Engadget. You know, government officials posing as common people, giving speeches to the uneducated masses around them. Also the offense they take at everything smells of lost-in-translation jokes taken as "My duty is to correct these brainwashed masses (even though my post is copy-paste approved script)" Post like the above make little sense when they are posted so early and seem to lack a natural flow across the entire post.
Second: I have never heard bad things from Washington or Big Media over Venezuela. My distaste for Chavez comes from watching him blather to hear himself talk. He just wants to feel important in his own little world. If he get something done, great ('cause it's just a bonus) Oh and maybe a handful of friend who grew up there, not even wealthy, just lucky enough to be born elsewhere and have somewhere to leave to as Chavez grip closes. He can't even keep religion as it threatens his cause.
(flamebait) Makes me wonder if there is a "Ministry of Truth" or some-such in Venezuela that men with texts of approved translated comments copy and paste and edit(as well as a only-studied-english-in-school translators can/do and that is why the comments read funny to me, professional translations spliced poor.) (sarcasm) To the parent: Do you know of the difference between Socialist and Communist by definition in English? Or does your script not tell you that, since your job is to make sure that Venezuelan people who are looking else where for news and opinions must be convinced with your chosen copypasta(let your translators catch that meme) that the world loves Hugo Chavez as much as he needs his Venezuelan people to love him and only him while he plays the world stage garnering favor by Bush-bashing, an over-used, tasteless tactic. Side Note: WHO THE HELL MODDED OP Insightful? (/sarcasm)(/flamebait)
the term "free-market" refers to ideal "the market is free to run and manage itself" or Laissez-faire
(roughly "hands-off" in French as I've been instructed in PolSci and Econ classes)
The ideal is for the market will Social-Darwinism itself, without need of government stepping in (any more than it has, if not preferably less)
Now off with you to the Ministry of Education to brush up on your Newspeak
Joespeh himself did not have more than one wife. Emma would not permit him to, that also being a requirement (Emma helped formed the Reorganized LDS Church [I've lost track of their current name] after Joseph's death since there was a dispute on who the next prophet would be. The RLDS wanted the next prophet to be the son of the former. The main LDS Church works off the belief that the next prophet is one of the 12 Apostles)
The killing happened for the mass migration of the religious group.
BTW the RLDS are the one's who hold the Kirtland Temple if any of you have been there. They seem to think that they are the majority
Final Note: The confusion of the Mormon/LDS thing. It's easy they are one and the same.
Mormons (or Latter-Day Saints as they prefer) don't practice that anymore. It's not need now that (American) society accepts women as full fledged people. Men married more than one wife to take care of the widows and extra single women after the mobs in Missouri killed too many of the men.
Why bother with that German toy when you can can get a good ole American Catipillar
You can take the putzy Liebherr 252 and fit it inside of a CAT 797B and the CAT will take it away at the ole double nickel on cruise control.
This beautiful CAT takes up 3 full Amercan lanes. However any vehicle under 41 inches high (attn: Ferrari owners) can easily blow by this in the middle lane. And don't worry about the driver, he'll see you comin'
with his rear-view camera. And for the SUV-haters out there all SUV's would be stuck just waiting for this beauty to get there.
I listen to music all the time and have my own collection of movies I like to play on the go.
Sounds like a great device.
The my wallet gives a reality check. At $500, I think a cheap $800 Dell or PCClub laptop would do more for me than the PMC.
Except for the boot time and battery life, I would love to have one in a heartbeat....
Not to mention the fact that Winamp has security holes and is in general far more clunky. WA4 pissed me off; WA5 is better, but iTunes is still far and away the sleeker player. I started using WA with version 2, used 5 for a while, then tried iTunes and dumped WA about 2 weeks later.
it may be me friend, but I have to knock iTunes/Quick time for playback on almost every Windows machine I've used.
General skipping and lack of audio tuning has me keeping WA2 and WA5 as my players of choice with iTunes as a backup player. I can count on WinAmp more than iTunes on my Windows 2000 in any public production scenario for smooth, constant playback.
I have used iTunes on MacOS 8.6 and 9.2. Definitly a well made product, but not a good translation to Windows
I do care enough about skins and plugins. Thats what drove me to winamp after using crappy software like RealJukebox and MusicMatch. I'm free to skin a simple GUI. If it lacks a feature, plug it in. But no matter how it looks or how well you can change it's features, make it work well the first time.
I went shopping for something to replace it. I looked at the Rio Karma and I asked my self why they could ask 150+ buck for that thing. Screw the iPod, Rio is where it's at (still) *gets out abestos suit in case of flames*
Now I have my answer on why they charge so much for the thing and what I need to save my worthless pennies for to replace my dead SP90.
If I didn't love gaming, music, and the internet so much, I would just use a console install of Linux (RedHat,pre 8.0 or Mandrake 8.2,9.0,9.1) with XMMS.
I just don't need a GUI except for my HTML and graphics. Aww heck lets just pull out Mandrake 8.2 and set the runtime for 3 at startup. That'll do nicely...:-)
Whaooo....
a new reason to upgrade my graphics card to some thing upto date instead of being content with always using crap that's 3 years old.
Now when I upgrade to Longhorn I'll just have to buy an new *eww* pre-built computer just to be running the latest and greatest OS on the Market.
</sarcasm>
I mean Windows. I shall now go throw out my 15 versions of Linux on CD's (like MandrakeMove and P.H.L.A.K.) and go pay Microsoft every penny they deserve for 4 years of hard work the put in to making this wonderful OS
</kissing_M$_a$$>
I make it most of my life giving new life to old hardware. I use Windows 2000 Professional as an OS of choice. I personally use a 700mhz Intel Celeron (Coppermine) processor( though I prefer AMD) and a ATI Radeon 7500 Dual-Head. I get most of my hardware for "free". I've paid for a graphics card and a hard drive for my own personal machine. All the extra hardware i get i refurbish and give to those know need a computer.
This just burns me when I know that I have to upgrade to be anywhere near safe. Scratch that. Unless a firewall and common-sense about network security doesn't protect me in 2006 on the internet, I don't know why I'll even use it casually except for "Google"ing whatever, placing Holds on books at my local library, and updating my drivers/software/OS
I still am going to jump up and down screaming "happy happy joy joy" about this since I use NoAdHosts (link: www.everythingisnt.com/hosts.html) But yes I do understand about the economics of free. Let them advertise. I just don't want to see any of it.
I looked at the summary and said to myself what I waste of everybody's money and time. A flash animation is like any other creative work.
And this particular piece of work is a parody, no doubt. no questions needed.
Quit wasting my time and tax dollars. If the artist wanted to say stuf about the president then he should, if he has good cause. He cant go blaming random stuff on the president without good cause and evidence either. If he just doesn't like the guy thats fine with me. This person is exercising Free speech to its fullest. I'm not buying it
I can't bring myself to use a high end machine just so I can make it feel like my Pentium-II laptop.
i'd rather shell out for broadband and get back to using Linux

End.

Oh how many day since 2nd grade has this kind of "trust no one policy" kept me in line from doing more, hehem, off-topic tasks
this one works if nothing else in a public lab setting.
I shall follow this Creed with all my soul, memory, processing power, and bandwidth.

The kind of high security policy I can live with
Not a fool-proof policy (nothing is, as we all know ever is or seems to be), but some thing that seems to be a "respect of others" type policy.
You can bring it in, but since you brought it in we must be able to look through it in case of whatever.
Simple question.
