I almost got DSL, but somehow GTE (now Verizon) said I was too far (even after the first test) due to coils, etc. I can't get cable modem service. IDSL is too slow (144kb/sec max) for my needs, difficult to set up, etc. Too bad I cannot get a T1:(.
Before BBS and Internet days, I wasn't a social person due to my articulation disability (unable to talk clearly). When I was introduced to Prodigy, BBS', and Internet, I became more socialable. The Internet helped me to communicate better and easier, become more productive, and have a happier life.
When I hear my friends and relatives say that the Internet is making me not socialable, it pisses me off. I tell them that I don't socialize very well when speaking.:(
I am tired of being around kids when I game since they are immature and these games are inapproriate to them. I know people's kids who are playing violent games (i.e. Quake) in their elementary school age. Same goes for watching TV shows (i.e. X-Files, The Simpsons, etc.). Parents need to watch their children more. I would if I had kids. That's my two cents...
I read most of my non work-related e-mails and download big files (don't want to hog the company's bandwidth) on various UNIX boxes with ssh1.
How secured is ssh1? Can people still sniff this beside reading off my monitor? Once in a while, I have personal stuff (nothing illegal) that I don't want people to read.
I almost pee'ed my pants after seeing the new interface and how stable it is! I am impressed. How much longer (estimated time) before the final version?
Anything faster than a 26400-28800 modem connections! No cable modem service and DSL here. Satellite services, IDSL, and ISDN are way too expensive for my budget.:(

I wonder how soon I will be getting any broadband services.:(

I noticed that I cannot play demos (even id Software's). I just get kicked to the main menu. I also noticed others posting about it on alt.games.quake3 newsgroup.:(

I believe... Valve did a good job in preparing the big release, especially for the popular mods. id Software didn't. :(
