Experts Exchange is the most worthless tech site ever, for 1 reason: Their policy.
I don't like seeing your results on my google searches, and teasing me with a question, and no answer. I don't want to register, I don't like 'hit and run' registering. I don't like you.
So what I did instead... is signed up for a google account, and filtered your site out of all of my searches. COMPLETELY.
And guess what I'm doing? I'm getting my answers elsewhere. For free. With no, god knows what privacy problem, registrations.
Huh, it appears as if I'm not the first one to say so. However, I hope the instructions about how exactly to implement it on a forum (i.e. non blog software which is what it was originally designed for) help!
1) While it's not made for forum spam, it can still work with it. It comes with drop in files for a ton of CMS, Blogging, and many other web scripts.
2) If there's no file for your software, Podz comment ( http://www.ioerror.us/software/bad-behavior/#comme nt-1053 ) (the first actual comment, past all the trackbacks/pingbacks, USE THE LINK I JUST PASTED) details how you can use a.htaccess file (assuming you're in an apache environment where php is compiled as an apache module NOT AS A CGI BINARY!!! (----- IMPORTANT!!!!)) to protect your entire domain. Seeing as the site is susceptible to go down, I suppose I'll post the comment/instructions here: =========== On my domain I currently have about 6 WP installs, and bbpress. Bad-behaviour is installed into my main blog plugins directory and I have this line in my.htaccess
I'll get no error logs maybe, but I do get site-wide protection. If you activate the plugin as well as doing this, you WILL get errors. So don't:) Comment by Podz -- April 25, 2005 @ 12:44 pm ===========
Note: Full path = file file system path to wherever you have the bad-behavior-generic.php file. It can be rewritten as:/path/to/bad-behavior/bad-behavior-generic.php
3) Bad Behavior 2 is going to rock, as it'll fit with the natural progression of web scripts. More modular and flexible for integration into nearly any piece of software for the web.
4) Captcha's (attempt) to prevent automated registration/form submission. However, bots can still roam your site and leech your bandwidth. Bad Behavior is configured so that bots recieve a simple error page. sub-1K vs. 10K or even more per page? (including even more for inline images or flash animations and such). You be the judge.
5) It is well maintained, well supported (all by only one person!) and io_error does in fact work with the community, especially when it comes to new bots or false positives.
Check it out, wontcha?

I was thinking the same thing. Even kexec has to stop everything, and thusly, restart the uptime counter. But hell if he has that feature built in... seeing as it didn't exist in the kernel until, uhhh, 2.6.14 ?
Not to mention that the 360 is victim to software emulation, and thus, degraded performance and not 100% compatibility. On the good side, YOU CAN PLAY BARBIE'S HORSE ADVENTURE FROM THE XBOX ORIGINAL!
Anyways. PS3 has it made with full backwards compatibility. 3 generations of games instantly available at launch. One could even say 4 for 'collectors' games for the PSX such as the Final Fantasy Origins/Adventures/Chronicles series.
I'm still banking on the Revolution. We thought gaming styles had produced everything to the point where anything else is a rehash... get ready for a whole new dimension. Both of playability itself, and the game style... Genres are going to be redefined (Controlling the flashlight in Survival Horror? Anyone?).
More proof that they don't have the experience (well... knowledge before experience) to maintain the systems they chose, so they ran to something else.
Good? Bad? Good for them, assuming they have the knowledge to back it up. Bad for us, because lol LUN1X R00LZ, ANY DISSiDENTS WILL BURN. Or perhaps it's that we'll l-o-l hax0r their M$ Wind0ze.
(Emphasis on the good... manage what you know, or learn something new and run with it. Either way, just make it work right and securely...)
We don't have a router except for wireless. The device plugged into our cable modem is a P1 133Mhz with like, 32 or 64 megs of ram, no monitor as a matter of fact.
It runs an up to date version of Gentoo Linux, and it is patched, uhhh... well... ocassionally:-). DistCC doesn't hurt to have set up on our workhorses either.
It has two NICs. One from the modem, one to the switch, and it all branches out from there.
We have uptime upwards of... Hmmm, let me check. We're on the home stretch to a full year.
As a musing, this system has been up even since we moved. We plugged it into a UPS and ran it between houses. (More like, we unplugged the UPS it was already on from the wall and moved the entire set of hardware). It was amusing to say the least.
But yeah, it's a piece of snit, and it works perfectly.
MP3s are synonymous with music on your computer. People ask me about downloading MP3s from iTunes (yeah, really).
I myself am a big proponent of OGG Vorbis and OGG FLAC. (Theora too!) It's very annoying that: 1) DVD/MP3 players don't exist yet (and the ones that do are absurdly expensive, I don't need video!!!) 2) AAC/MP3/WMA is the best you're going to get in a player. The home/living room devices are a little bit better, but vehicle players are still the best you can get.
I'm getting ready to get a stripped down linux distro and just throw the entire computer in my truck. That's quite a commitment though, one that I'm not 100% sure I want to make yet.

You know you're a DDR geek whenever you see a comment like this.
The game doesn't change, the music does, and that's the biggest difference ever.
