I also added ClamAV with the clamav-milter. That's eliminated all of the viruses that I used to get, although it does nothing for the virus warning messages I get from poorly administrated mail servers out there. Before I added ClamAV I was using the Virus Snaggers procmail package which was great at catching a lot of that stuff.
BTW, I use this procmail rule to catch all of the DSNs I get and stuff them in a mbox rather than having them clutter my inbox. I didn't write this and I forget who did. I think I got it from a post here on Slashdot sometime in the last year. To whoever wrote this, thanks.

I've been using the same email address since 1996 and I'd like to keep using it. Not every one wants to change their primary email address to avoid spam.
FairUCE looks interesting but I'd be curious if it'd do a better job than milter-sender. About a year ago, before I installed milter-sender, I was receiving about 200-300 spams per day. Since installing milter-sender in March 2004 and adding the spamhaus SBL-XBL checks to sendmail, I've received (checking spam mbox) 1568 spam messages.
Overpower the control signal, robot stops moving. Better yet, decode the signal and take control of the robot to turn it on who sent it. Somehow I don't see this being a great idea.
You can line through those sections on the contract and initial next to it and it removes that part from the contract. The company I work for doesn't own the things I do outside of company time and off premises.
Yeah, that was easy and intuitive. [rolls eyes] How about a button that I can click like in Mozilla's preferences instead of having to enter a URL to get a spreadsheet of options? This is my main gripe with Firefox. The UI for setting a lot of useful options has been removed. One is left to google around for information on an option.
This release is supposed to have roaming profile support like hte old Netscape 4 had. If you've been waiting for that, give it a try to help shake out any bugs.
I wouldn't call 2.7 GHz low end unless you're a hardcore gamer that's always upgrading to the latest hardware. 800MHz with 128 MB of RAM is my impression of low end these days. I only know a few people with machines faster than 1.3 GHz.
This is offtopic so mod away, but the article made me wonder. Where are all the games like PacMan? I don't mean PacMan itself, but simple games like that which you can play in five or ten minutes here and there? When I had an Amiga 10-15 years ago it seemed that there was a lot more variety in the types of games available.
Clue me in - When Microsoft used a similar form of copy protection for Windows XP, Slashdot couldn't have disagreed more. Yet when Valve takes a similar approach, they're applauded.
Ok, here's a huge clue for you. This isn't some kind of borg collective. Slashdot doesn't agree or disagree because it doesn't form opinions. However, the half million people on slashdot do. There are a lot of people opposed to Steam just as there are a lot of people who have no problem with it. The poster you replied to doesn't speak for all of Slashdot. He's just expressing his opinion. Feel free to form your own without waiting to see which way the Slashdot wind is blowing today.
There used to be cms-list.org before it went down in early 2004. People used that mailing list to talk about what you are asking and more. You can find archives online (search on Google). This site is supposed to be the new incarnation of the cms list so you might want to subscribe and ask there. I'd have a list of your requirements in hand before you ask questions on the list. Since the term "content management system" is so generic asking what's the best CMS isn't going to get you far until you figure out what kind of content you need to manage it and how. That will dictate which CMS products you'll consider and from there you can look at the technical aspects to see what works best.
I found that Familiar was essential for my PocketPC. Even though the OS that came on my handheld synced with Outlook it didn't always work correctly even though both pieces of software were made by the same company. The original OS was also limited to Microsoft operating systems. Since I'm thinking about getting a Mac i wanted something that could work with a unix system.
If you have 64,000+ rows, doesn't that suggest that gnumeric/OO/Excel are not the right tool to be using?
They are the right tool as they meet all the requirements except for the arbitrary limitation on the number of rows. If you have a single table of data with a lot of records, why resort to a RDBMS to deal with that? Spreadsheets are perfect for displaying that single table of data and then looking at it in different ways, or editing parts of it quickly and saving back out.
With a RDBMS you'd have to write some code to import the data, then use SQL queries to extract the data and some more code to format it in a way that works for you. Sure, you could put it into an HTML table, but what if you want to lock the top row and the first column like you can in a spreadsheet? Then you'll probably have to end up writing a custom application just to present the data.
you should be ashamed of yourself. the parent post is simply trying to drive people to amazon using his referall ID to earn money from any potential sales.
I don't understand why people have a problem with this. If you buy it from his referral link or buy it by searching the Amazon site, the price is the same. Who cares if someone makes a few cents off of Amazon's profits?
The gmail account isn't my primary email account. I just use it for slashdot and huge attachments that people need to send me. :-)

Doesn't the Ogg container already support multiple audio streams? Why a new format when you can put multiple streams in one container?

Hand it a playlist, and it'll convert the files in that playlist to MP3 format.

Just my two cents on the subject.
He never said he was using Firefox.
Or you can use roaming profiles in Mozilla 1.8 and up.
This isn't a troll, I'm just wondering what the motivation is behind companies doing that.

How about just not buying the copy protected CD in the first place. Not giving them your money at all seems that it would be just as effective.
