Why would they need to choose? The average Windows user has no idea that computers can run with a different GUI layout. They don't know about Blackbox for Windows or LiteStep or GeoShell, how are they going to know about XFCE and KDE and IceWM and Fluxbox? Since Ubuntu comes with Gnome, many users will associate Gnome as Ubuntu. Linspire comes with KDE, so that is the Linspire interface. There is no need for them to choose which interface they use. Just give them something and they'll adapt.
I would have preferred the one on the IIT campus at 33rd street. It is staffed primarily by indians, too. Though the decorations would probably be down by the time I go back to Chicago for next semester...
Easy solution: sneaker net. Sneaker net may have been floppies in the old day.. but now people have CDs, DVDs, usb keys that can hold up to 10GB, external harddrives, and even freaking laptops. Sneaker net, it's the only way to share things.
Tribes 2 for the PC and Tribes: Aerial Assault for the PS2 (unsure about Tribes 1 or Tribes Vengeance) use what is called a Spawn Sphere that encircles the teams base or a specific area of the map. What this spawn sphere does is guarantee a semi-random spawn point as well as ensure that no one accidentally spawn kills another player. It is a very neat concept that not too many games use these days.
I hooked up my Wii in my dormitory's lounge last night to play some Super Smash Brothers Melee (we have no cube to call our own, have been borrowing one before several of us got Wiis). When I booted it up, one of the guys saw that I had Sonic, and he was terribly surprised. It was neat. And everyone looks at me funny when I tell them that I'm not playing the NES Bomberman, but the Turbografx Bomberman. No one even knows what it is =P
That's not a short life at all. The N64 lasted five years. The Gamecube lasted five years. The original Xbox lasted five years. The Playstation2 lasted six years. That's a NORMAL lifespan for a console. Just because sony expects the PS2 or the PS3 to last ten years doesn't mean that's the new standard. Hell, ten years is gonna be impossible. Microsoft and Nintendo will come out with something new and Sony will be forced to come out with something as well.
I don't know if you've noticed or not, but parents these days are not at all responsible. Well, most, anyway. There are good ones out there, but they're hard to come across.
Oh wow. I've laughed for like ten minutes now reading all of your posts. Did you just sign up today to post this shit or what?
I know, I know Don't feed the trolls.
Four year colleges start teaching programming in third year? I'm in my third week of my freshman year at Illinois Tech and we're already writing our own Java. Basic stuff, sure, but I totally disproved what you said.
Oh, and your attitude fucking sucks. You will not get ANY job (maybe McDonald's, I hear they hire anyone there) with that attitude. Trust me. I used to work at a movie theatre before leaving for school. The place was staffed mostly with kids in junior high through college. We didn't hire asshats like you. Now think about what a BIG business looks for in their employees. Hell, they'd probably take some of the junior high kids over you.
"Best Programmer." Pah! Compared to whom? Have you actually determined that you are the best? Have you had "programming duels" with everyone who programs out there?
If so, then awesome. If not, then shut up.
I like how you made fun of that one guy saying he had no friends. That's low, man. That just screams of immaturity right there. Honestly, though, if I had to take a guess. I'd have to say it is you who is without friends. The way you act just makes you look like this giant asshole who no one would want to be with.
Have fun at DeVry or ITT Tech. In the mean time, I'm going to a real college (i.e. one that's been around for over one-hundred years).
You can't out-innovate something that doesn't innovate.
Or can you always out-innovate something that doesn't innovate..
I always get the two confused.
Meh, I only need to ssh into a machine to access naim running in screen. Get rid of the buddylist display and naim runs fine at widths less than 80 columns. The naim console cuts off characters, but the actual conversation between people is word-wrapped. I'd be able to live =P
I'm going to Illinois Tech in exactly one month. Their entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled, but I don't have a laptop. With Opera DS, I can still check my e-mail, check up on forums, read some webcomics, and even post to my website while in class or outside or what have you. It's perfect. I'll will be getting a copy as soon as it comes out.
Now someone just needs to make an SSH client for the DS that doesn't require any modding or hacking, and I'll be happy.
18 here as well, and very disapointed in today's youth. Who needs a cellphone? I rarely use the regular phone as it is. Just drive to my friends' and "steal" them =P
And back in my day we didn't have fancy shmancy graphics. I remember growing up with an old 12" amber monitor and playing games just fine. The day we got our 14" color monitor, I remember being so excited just to see an ASCII border (it surrounded the options in this menu program we had) rendered in this stunning purple. I can still remember it clear as day.
Shit. Now I feel old.
Land line, Land line. Not LAN line.

Meh, at least you live in the area. Detroit is kinda far away...
o_O Do you go to IIT?!

You can punch the bear before he drives you off a cliff.
It's Canada. Just... just ignore them. It's easier that way..
A bit angry, are we?
Awww! Little fanboy's favorite system didn't do as well as they hoped? Go cry. It's funny.

But in the end, nothing can beat porn.
No, you'll only need that if you're using vim instead of emacs.

This fucking bell... it indicates that there is to be fucking? 'Cause I'd surely salivate for that. Or food. Food is always good too.

He must be, because the title actually does work on it's own.
All false guys! http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/14/nintendo-japan-c onference-not-so-liveblogging/
Check it out.

Agreed. When I first saw this, my mind screamed "PREY!"
