PERSON1: Hey, we're going to blow up the bridge tomorrow.
PERSON2: Excellent. Praise Allah, the infidels will die!
P1: LOL, we better STFU before the FBI think we're really terrorists:)
FBI: Come with me, you terrorist scum.
several weeks later...
P1: Yeah, let's not do that again...
P2: No shit.
PERSON3: DIE INFIDELS DIE! Wha? My shoe won't blow up!
Chinese surveillance incident:
PERSON1: Help, everyone is dying, we need to do something!
PERSON2: Don't go outside if you can avoid it, wear a mask if you do, and don't touch anyone. Since our government won't help us, we need to get help wherever we can.
CHINESE GOV'T: You two, come with me. You're never going to see the outside of a cell again, ever.
A lot of the posters here know a hell of a lot about the history of Unix and Linux, and can say for a fact that SOME of SCO's claims are completely ridiculous, such as SCO's claim to own RCU.
I would also guess that the posters that know the history of Unix are probably more than 15 years old.
The other day I was driving about 8 mph over the speed limit in the left lane. A car approached from behind me going about 20 mph faster than me, and slowed to match my speed at about 3 feet from my bumper, and continued to follow roughly 5 - 8 feet behind me. The right lane was crowded, so I had to accelerate to about 15 mph over the speed limit so I could safely get into the right lane and allow the maniac behind me to pass.
After shifting to the right lane, the cop accelerated and passed me at about 35 mph over the limit.
This particular cop did not make me feel safer on the highway.
Most Star Trek games do poorly. The factory workers don't design the shoes.
The company probably had no choice though, as others have said. When you run out of money... Further, the developers may get some royalties depending on their contracts, so buying the game would probably help them. Further #2, if Ritual gets into better shape, they may try to rehire some of these guys.
Fuck you, you are so fucking deluded it is simply unbelievable. You are making so many false assumptions about ME that I refuse to entertain you with a rebuttal. You think I don't care about suffering people? You think I'm lying? You're totally wrong. Go fuck yourself.
What solution? Please tell me what other solution would have rid Iraq of Saddam, because that is what was needed in Iraq to stop the murdering/torture/oppression of the Iraqi people.
Why didn't the U.N. step in? Why did the U.N. let Iraq kick the weapons inspectors out several years ago? Why were France and Russia illegally doing business with Saddam?
Look, if Bush was being dishonest about the reasons for war, that pisses me right off. It's not a sure thing that he was, as some would have you believe, but it's very possible. But the fact of the matter is that Saddam was a murderer and the Iraqi people are better off without him. Just ask any Iraqi refugee anywhere what they think. Or for that matter, ask any Iraqi period that isn't connected to the Baath party.
Earlier Republicans were supporters of anti-trust laws. Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt to name two.
Their reasoning was they didn't want corporations to become more powerful than the government, and hence, have influence over it.
BTW, if you think corruption is bad today, read all about Teddy, he started his political career fighting corruption that was taking place basically out in the open.
Who from Enron did Bush appoint to his cabinet? I was not aware he appointed anyone from Enron to his cabinet, and I am not aware of the Bush Administration influencing anything w/regards the Enron case.
If you have some real evidence, please show it, otherwise, STFU with your useless blathering.
Personally, I don't care one way or the other, but I'm sick of all the unsubstantiated anti-Bush bullshit.
OTOH, Clinton gave pardons to some pretty shady individuals, but people don't talk about that anymore... Do you take issue with Clinton for that? I hope so, otherwise you are a hypocrite.
disclaimer: I am not a Republican. I did not vote for Bush. I do not wish the Enron executives anything but pain and suffering for the rest of their lives.
Exactly! The U.S. should pull all Egyptian aid until the Egyptian government lets(forces?) their citizens to watch the best movie of the year!:)
You're right thought, w/regards to violence. It's a sad sad world we live in when a government is affraid a movie will incite the population to violence...
Yes, he told you so. It is utterly ridiculous that people think taxing Bad(TM) things is a good idea. First of all, the taxes never end up going where they're supposed to go, because deficits are the norm and money will always be diverted where it is need the most Right Now. Secondly, everyone definition of what is Bad(TM) is different, so I submit that it is hypocritical to promote "diversity" (a pet word of many Democrats) while at the same time defining what is Bad(TM).
Christ, you're an idiot. Sure, Caldera was ridiculed some, but that had nothing to do with Caldera trying to "make money" with Linux, it was because Ransom Love was a dipshit and made ridiculous statements w/regards to the GPL. Of course that pissed people off and turned people away from Caldera to an extent, but the real problem was that Caldera became a poor distro in comparison to the other "more friendly" companies' distros.
Do you see RedHat, Mandrake, Slackware, and SuSe blaming any of their financial difficulties on the/. community. They've all faced financial problems, and they adjust or they, like over 90% of businesses do, fail. Mandrake is on the rocks, and Slackware had problems in the past, but looking on their site now it appears that at least some of the maintainers work full-time maintaining Slack.
You're former employer failed because they were idiots, and your friends still working there are working for idiots. And these idiots are predators trying to make an entire industry pay for their failure. And you're an idiot if you blame their problems on the community.
Eric Raymond doesn't own the word "open" any more than Richard Stallman has the right to go around insisting that people are using the word "free" incorrectly.
Or it could be that, *shock*, some words have multiple meanings?!?!
Let them invent their own words.
They don't need to, "free" and "open" already mean what they intend to get across, if people are too stupid to understand the meanings, then said people have bigger problems than just understanding what FOSS software is. Ie. they need to go back to school, or at least look at a fucking dictionary once in a while.
HL2 could easily be made to play and look great on the Xbox. Have you seen footage of Halo 2? It's quite impressive, not quite HL2, but not far away. A lot of what makes HL2 look so good also has nothing to do with the graphics per say.
Besides, HL2 will run at 640x480, possibly 800x600?, on the Xbox, so it doesn't need quite as much power.
Doom 3 is coming to the Xbox, and I have heard nothing about it being "horribly neutered". However, as that will have a native Linux client, I will be purchasing the PC version.
Don't get me wrong, I hate Microsoft, and I wish Bill G just as much pain and misery as the next guy does, but you're just plain wrong.
Xbox is a child now compared to even middle-end PC's.
That is simply not true. Most gamers are still running sub-1Ghz machines with a Geforce 2 or 3. Furthermore, when the specs of every machine are the same, you can do a lot more tweaking to get it running well.
I predict that Microsoft will now soon implement PNG support properly in IE. They MUST have had some kind of deal with Unisys to hold PNG back, in order to keep GIF more relevent, so Unisys could continue trying to sue people. Or it could have been part of a cross licensing deal with Unisys that Unisys forced.
In any case, propping up GIF and therefore Unisys is the only logical reason I can come up with that IE still does not support PNG properly.
I'm playing Primal right now, and the engine is pretty impressive, especially for the PS2. My only complaint about Primal is the fighting systems lacks depth, and the camera is slighly problematic at times.
It definately plays better than other similar games, like Resident Evil.
I think Sony has the racing simulator market cornered, and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. Gran Tourismo has, hands down, the best driving engine in any console driving game. It is so fine-tuned that it would be nearly impossible to beat them anytime soon.
The only thing they could possibly beat Sony at is graphics, utilizing the power of the GC and Xbox, giving the PS2 version the backseat. However, even with the PS2's lack of power, it's hard to beat THIS.
The PS2 is still really impressive when games are done right on it...

You're being an idiot. You don't have to be a lawyer to understant that SOME of the claims made by SCO are outright lies.
I would also guess that the posters that know the history of Unix are probably more than 15 years old.
In short, you're a moron.
After shifting to the right lane, the cop accelerated and passed me at about 35 mph over the limit.

Oh please. That is nonsensical flaimbait. Republicans today don't want to give special rights to minorities(of race or any other distinctive trait).
Special Rights != Equal Rights.
You can argue that special rights are necessary(I would disagree), but portraying the Republican party as racist is just stupid.
Again, I am NOT a Republican, but the opposition(you?) is embarrassing themselves by continually grasping at straws... I feel embarrassed for them...
Their reasoning was they didn't want corporations to become more powerful than the government, and hence, have influence over it.

Why is the parent modded "Insightful"?
Furthermore, /. is not a gelatinous blob of people all of the same mind...
I think I'll continue to decide what I eat and what I do with my own time, thankyouverymuch.
