The good thing about the beta is that it will allow hackers to work on a bnet-to-lan emulator, which shouldn't really be harder than tracking packets and learning what they do.

heck if pirated servers for wow were functionnal before the actual game launched, this should be real easy to code.

It still should be optional, people should be free to decide whether they want to use the bnet integration or not. I myself will most likely run sc2 behind a firewall when i play the single player campaign to not be bothered and find a bnet-to-lan utility for lan gaming.

I agree, EA has to be one of the game companies i dislike the most. Their games have little to no replay value, if any value in the first place. Its obvious they're in it for the money and not the games themselves.

If you have to spend 3 times the money of development for marketing alone, its a pretty strong sign that you're selling crap and not giving a shit about your customers, all you want is their money.

The state of our entire entertainments industry today is very sad, everything is more about money than it is about quality.

We still have a lot of our DNA not yet "activated", from what little I know about genetics, every living organism share more or less the same DNA with less than 1% of differences, its which parts that are activated and which ones that are dormant that specify what the being will look like. This also means we're still babies in terms of our evolution.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I am pretty sure these are details for the implementation of OpenCL, not for client code. It is the very reason why libraries such as OpenGL/CL/AL/etc exists, so you don't have to worry about implementation details in your code.

From what I know of the spec, you would just create your kernel, feed it data, and execute it, the implementation will worry about sharing the work between the CPU and GPU to get optimal performance.

However, I don't think it would be optimal to have all 4 cores of the CPU running on parallel tasks when the GPU has dozens more processing cores dedicated for such tasks, the CPU will better be spent doing system tasks.
