That's not even mentioning that you were put to were as soon as you could walk. This notion of "childhood" that the author speaks of when he says...

'pushed by market forces to act and dress like mini-adults and exposed via the electronic media to material which would have been considered unsuitable for children even in the very recent past.'

ONLY existed in the recent past. There has only been a very brief moment in human history where 'childern' were not exposed to 'unsuitable' things. Have you ever read any childrens fairy tales that are more than ~50 years old? Obviously the author hasn't. Whenever I read articles like this, I just hope that these 'children' can do better at understanding the world than mine and my parents generation.

This kind of thing does make me think that, maybe, I shouldn't be so hard on these 'young earthers' who think the world is only 6000 years old. Since, there seeems to be an even larger group that thinks the world was created in 1950.

They were clearly sent for private viewing to a specific individual, so there was not only no explicit permission to redistribute the copyritten work, but there was no implicite permission either. There has clearly been a federal crime committed here, and the individual who violated this law should have his home immediatly raided, his computer equipment siezed, be sentenced to the appropriate jail time, and have to pay the current maximum restitution for copyright violation.

Just because these individuals were not big RIAA/MPAA corporations does not mean that they do not have the same legal rights to copyright. So, until copyright gets overhauled with something a little more sane, copyright is an obviouse and legal way to crush the guy who did this.

As rarely as I can say it, MS seems to be doing EXACTLY what should be done. In fact this could be the tipping point that moves us from IPv4 to IPv6. With 95% of the worlds desktops using IPv4 exclusivly, it made no sense worrying about IPv6 in the routers, and it would have been suicide to go to a pure IPv6 implementation. With Vista, most people will, in a few years, upgrade to Vista, switch to Linux or OSX, or be ready to accept being cut off from direct access to the internet. That means that 95% of the worlds desktops with be IPv6 first and formost, and ISPs can confidently move to an IPv6 backbone without fear of cutting off their customers.

Either way, I don't think that NAT is dead. It might change form a bit, but those in control of the numbers are not likely to just start giving them away, just because they have an over abundence of them any more than the Media Barons just give out music just because they have an over abundance of copies of that.

Of course I still don't understand why businesses don't fire people who steal. An employee who steals for other employees certainly won't have a problem stealing from the company. If the insurance company found that people of Mexican decent were 6% more likely to have an accident, and had the statistics to back it up, would you be ok with charging these people higher rates just because of their ethnicity? Now, I now your going to play the "but the children" card. For hundreds of thousands of years, human have reached adulthood by approximatly the age of 13. Unless your genetic line has had exposure to some severe gene altering environmental factor, 13 is still the age of adulthood. No wonder we have problems with 'teenagers'. We take adults and tell them that for the next 5 years, you don't have to accomplish anything, and someone else is responsible for your actions. How many people do you know would be a problem if they were told that at 35? The 16 year old not being 'responsible' enough to care for a child is not a genetic issue, but instead is caused by a problem legal structure. We have created an almost 100% welfare state for adults between the ages of 13 and 18.

The problem these people have is that they precive the extra features as adding expense and more parts. This is largely not true. The phones already have a processor and a display. Radio requires extra parts (but the cost is virtually $0), and the video playing requires a better screen. The better screen just makes everything else more pleasent to use. Other than that the rest is basically software. These people complaining about phones getting more features are in the same category as people complining that computers are too fast and have too much memory. After all, the C-64 computed just fine, and that is what we should all stick with. Anything more is just making computers more complicated and expensive.
