I would hope for your sake that a future employer of yours does not see your transgressions, and passes you up in favor of a more respectable, honorable candidate.
I judge you: bitter asshole.
1) grip the ethernet connector firmly and pull from its socket.
2) put on some jazz and smoke up.
3) return here and apologize for being a cocksucker
What I find funny is.. if VGA is so inferior, how comes we didn't hear people crying their heart out about the picture quality of their monitors when graphics cards started to hit resolutions upwards of 1600*1200 ?
Uh, people did complain. You just weren't paying attention. And you're an idiot who can't tell the clear visual difference.
Have you ever watched any of those European PAL 60 fps shows? They're just way too real to be enjoyed. Reality needs to be abstracted in order for it to be entertaining. Here's another example: have you ever watched a documentary of a movie being made or something along those lines? You know, a 30 or 60 fps film showing the director shooting a scence for a 24 fps movie. That scene looks totally boring and hyperrealistic when seen at 30 or 60 fps, but all of a sudden when it comes out in the movie theaters at 24 fps it comes alive
That's a nice theory. Except for the part about being totally wrong.
The reason the look different is that we've been culturally trained to associate "real life" video (news, etc) with 60(i) and "fiction" film with 24p. The assocated artifacts of lighting and technology (video vs film) make a much bigger impact. In fact, most people find it difficult to distinguish between 60p and 24p video both shot to look like film.
I judge you: pompous and ignorant
Sentence: well, being you is its own punishment.
If it was truly for just media and retailers then it should be closed to the public. (No regular "Attendees")
The problem is that the people who run e3 have different incentives than the people who go there for business (or the people who buy booth space).
I amost totally agree except on the point of swagbaggers, who I think have made up a much larger pecentage of the growing attendence. And that factor alone is enough to look back and think that it *was* a lot better.
It absolutely dwarfs E3 in both the number of visitors and the physical size of the show (I've been to both, several times).
I've been to E3 too many times to count, and TGS just this year, but there was no way that TGS was bigger in physical size (floor space, booths, etc).
And day 1 of TGS is not journalist-only, but industry-only.
E3 seems like a wasted opportunity as it's set up now. So people get to read about games, big deal. That's not going to convince anybody to buy anything. Open the show up. Let everybody in.
That's retarded. The point of E3 is to sell games to distributers/retailers. A secondary point is to pimp games to journalists. That's it.
I shit you not. Fuck HL2 - play a game that really works physics into its core mechanic. And did it 10 years earlier.
Umihara Kawase. It's insanely hard. It's kawaii. It's 2D. There's no shooting, no blood. You can't inch-save. Get over it and play one of the best games ever made.
C++ is the only major language with extensive abstraction but without memory safety
And for that, I thank C++.
C++ has been in decline for years
Who cares? It's not dying. It's more an effect of the mass over-hyping of C++ in the 90's. When the crowd moved onto Java, the C++ scene gained...
vocal minority that insists language safety is undesirable
The tradeoffs involved make it undesirable. It's a fundamental architectual choice of the langauge, with undeniable performance implications. If you want safety above performance, go use another language.
But I truly don't think I'm condescending about it
You don't have to be condescending for people to have a problem with arrogance.
You can call me arrogant, but I think they reject me because they know I'm fully capable of replacing them, and they're too insecure about their job.
That's pretty condescending, even if you are only thinking it.
You clearly are very arrogant, and are incapable or undesiring of hiding it. Until you learn to do so, you aren't going to have much luck getting along with other programmers. I hang out with a lot of very smart game developers and none of them have any real tolerance for arrogance. I guess there's no good way to convince you to be less arrogant or beat the arrogance out of you online, but I hope you realize that it's a problem if you want to work with other people, and somethings gotta change if you want to get work...
One more thing:
Sure I'm proud of my accomplishments and my ability
Strong pride is a sin, especially during interviews. If you are not comfortable with letting your accomplishments speak for themselves, then maybe YOU are insecure...
It is highly likely that Sony will create a custom version of the PS3 hardare for its dev kit (as it did with PSX and PS2). If for some strange reason it decides to use an off the shelf system for an early dev kit, it would likely be the CELL-BASED WORKSTATIONS SOON AVAILABLE FROM IBM.
I diagnose you with incurable stupidity. You can go now.
The EE *is* twice as fast as a 733MHz P3 --- the only reason the XBox has better graphics is it's NVIDIA GPU
There are so many things wrong with this, I don't know where to begin. Let me stick to the basics so I can finish this post before tomorrow:
-The Xbox does vertex processing on the GPU. The PS2 does it on the EE's VU1. So even if VU1 vertex processing was faster than the NV2a's (hint, it's NOT), that CPU power is not available to PS2 game code (as it's tied up doing vertex processing).
-No matter how you slice it, the EE comes up massively short compared to the Xbox's P3. The lack of a L2 on the PS2 is crippling. If you had actually developed for these systems, you wouldn't spout this garbage.
It would be really nice if you KNEW WHAT THE FUCK YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT.
Of course the article contains a few brief quotes from Gosling and fails to clarify whether he knew (and spoke of) the differences between safe managed code, unsafe managed code, and native code...

As a game-industry vet who's been personally screwed by Romero, I agree with all of the parent's post...
Uh, people did complain. You just weren't paying attention. And you're an idiot who can't tell the clear visual difference.
I judge you: class 4 retard
Yeah, but it didn't keep it from being ugly as sin.
Shibuya Tsutaya may have "sold out" in the morning, but when I went back there at around 5pm they had XB360s in stock.
That's a nice theory. Except for the part about being totally wrong.

Seriously kids, do something easier that pays better, and make game programming a hobby.
IMO, anyone who wants to go to E3 should not be allowed in. No joke.
Anyone who doesn't like this rule should not be allowed in as well.
If it was truly for just media and retailers then it should be closed to the public. (No regular "Attendees") The problem is that the people who run e3 have different incentives than the people who go there for business (or the people who buy booth space).

I juge you: ass
A better idea would be to run around naked at GDC.
Ok, it's not a good idea. But it's about as good advice as the retarded parent post gives...

Hmm, I'm starting to think I have been trolled...
Because they caught a strong wiff of your arrogance.
You'd like to write me off as a troll, but deep down, you know it's true.
Yeah, E3 is the one that is fucking clogged with people who do not belong there.
Except that it's by any reasonably useful benchmark. And it's not for any games.

Shoo!

You, sir, are a tard.
Get a fucking clue. The offical developement system will be something pretty close to PS3 hardware - i.e. nothing like a Mac.
Last story, I thought you were just ignorant and talking out of your ass.
However, it's now apparent that you are actually just a Java shill and uninterested in factual technical discussion.
Thank you for clarifying the situation.
Of course the article contains a few brief quotes from Gosling and fails to clarify whether he knew (and spoke of) the differences between safe managed code, unsafe managed code, and native code...
However, it is clear that *you* do not know.
I'd be pretty damn happy if this ridiculous fanboy term could disappear.
You, sir, are just as much a moron as the writer post you are replying to.
