Nor can you eliminate all diseases. The best you can do is produce vaccines to innoculate people from the current incarnation of said afflictions. However, thanks to evolution, the bugs will develop an immunity to our vaccines and become even stronger. This is already happening as witnessed by a few bugs which are resistant to all but the most toxic new antibiotics.

Diseases are actually a good thing. They help cull the herd by removing the weak and sick. This allows for the stronger to survive.

Imagine how many people would be on this planet if diseases were kept in check. We are already seeing the effects of an ever-increasing population on our water, food and resources supplies.

At first it sounded like they would have 4 printers for 10 people but after a bit of research it became clear that it would be 6 printers for 50+ people. When it was discussed that some people might have to walk a few feet to get the printer my response was, "Yeah, so? The exercise will do them good."

The question of adding more printers for this office was never brought up again.

However, I defy you to find anyone who classify the Amish as a distinct ethnic group.

Besides, it is has been shown that jews are genetically similar to palestinians and other groups of the region. Which of course makes sense since if one uses the biblical story of the egyptians using jews, and others, as slaves, it would logically follow that the jews were people already living in the region and thus would be genetically related to the overall arabic population (I'm using arabic in the widest possible term even though the Iranians would, given the chance, slit my throat for calling them arabs when Persian is the more correct term).

The only reason jews are jews is not because of genetics but of religion. Or maybe you would like to think that the jews were spontaneously created rather than adopting their ways for religious purposes?

To all those who hold the opinion that there is nothing wrong with teaching Creationism as a viable alternative 'theory' to Darwins theory of Evolution, I ask this one simple question: Can you prove or disprove your god, or any supreme being, does or does not exist.

While no theory can completely prove a known fact, whatever a theory proposes must be testable. If it cannot be tested in some fashion then it is not a theory.

That is the cruxt of the matter. Proving whatever a theory proposes. We know for an absolute fact that Darwins theory is correct because of horses. Horses you say? Yes, horses.

The fossil evidence shows, without a doubt, that horses were not always horses. The modern day horse is descended from a creature about the size of a large dog but which in no way can be considered a horse.

Thus, what Darwins theory has proposed has been tested and can therefore be considered a valid theory. The same can never be said of Creationism/ID.

The biggest mistake that those who oppose Darwins theory being taught in schools make is that they misinterpret what Darwins theory actually says. The theory does not say all creatures must evolve from other creatures. Rather, the theory says that all creatures may evolve from other creatures. A noteworthy difference.

No, this is just the latest attempt to drag this country back to the Dark Ages where people believed that various gods and demons caused everything from earthquakes to the passage of the Sun and Moon across the sky.

Since Creationism/ID relies on a being who can never be proven or disproven it is not a theory and never will be.

What is truly sad about this whole situation is that these people don't want to learn. Their outlook on life must be one of: "Well, I don't understand it so I guess it's a supreme being taking care of things."
