Hey Fox, are you going to cover this story where Kansas, a firmly Republican state, has all these regulations governing what a person can and can't do with their own body, or are you going to keep whining about the regulations for clean air and water?
every single woman wanted a guy who was between 5'8" and 6'2".
And I want a woman who isn't fat, doesn't freak out every time they get their period and don't use the "reality" shows as a template for how to live one's life.
Here we have absolute proof that Linux is for Communists. Just as Steve Ballmer said. Only a commie would use free software to write code so they don't have to pay the evil capitalists their 30 pieces of silver.
I have always hated the comment about hitting the ground running. It is effectively impossible for anyone to do so since they don't know the internal structure and political climate of the company. At best they can make educated guesses but they don't truly know what they're getting into until they're working for a few weeks.
Any time an interviewer uses that phrase should send up warning signals to the interviewee that the company doesn't really know what they want and the job will not be what is advertised.
If you want someone to hit the ground running, hire from within.
There are plenty of coders in the country ready, willing and able to take these jobs. You're just too cheap to pay them what they're worth or willing to wait the three months it will take to get them up to speed.
Hauling in people from other countries who are no better than the ones here is just an excuse.
Again, you want the unemployment rate to decline? Hire people who are unemployed. They'll work harder and better for you than someone who has a job because they don't want to go back.
Oh, and Slashdot, the fuck off applies to you as well. Your interface just plain sucks and selecting 'Classic' doesn't do shit. Hmmm, maybe we do need more H-1B visas so you can read this site.
I agree. Several times in different stories CNN has said there was also no smoking gun. I was only commenting on the OP who was questioning about a smoking gun.
So far, there is none. All the emails show the shutdown was solely because of his Asst Chief of Staff and some people on the Port Authority Board.
Not according to Fox. On their opening broadcast when the initial emails were released, the first words out of the talking head's mouth was (as near as I can remember), "There was no smoking gun found in the documents released today about the New Jersey bridge shutdown."
Why would anybody still be trying to figure out if the attempted cover-up was bogus or not?
Again, going back to Fox, they're still wondering why people are so enamored with this story. After the first day they essentially dropped all coverage except for a tiny blurb along the right side of their web page, and then only to keep wondering why the media was so focused on this event.
I realize using Fox as a reference is akin to using the National Enquirer, but I'm just answering your questions.
Tell me about it. Going from XP to W7 was horrible with things being hidden or removed. I'm still able to do things much more quickly in XP than in 7, the response is snappier in XP than 7, the list goes on.
W7 was a mess, 8 is a nightmare. I don't want to imagine how bad 9 will be.
Think about the worst requirements you've ever had to deal with. Now imagine 2700 pages of even worse requirements written by CONGRESS. Then throw Obama in the mix, issuing Executive Orders that change the system at every turn.
Okay, so the scariest environment imaginable. Thanks. That's all you gotta say, scariest environment imaginable.
I forget which King story I read, it involved a woman going to a cabin and being tied to a bed by her lover who dies on top of her. While she's there she starts to have images of things that might happen to her.
I don't think I finished it, the writing and droning was so bad. I only read it because I had never read King before and someone handed it to me.
Reminds me of the Family Guy scene where King is in front of his publisher who is asking what book King is working on. King grabs the lamp and says it's about a lamp which comes to life and attacks people, to which the publisher remarks, "You're not even trying any more."
ou've got to wonder why the folks on the right who care so deeply about individual freedom of choice and despise government intrusion in personal affairs are such big fans of the war on drugs.
âoeYou liked drugs. For that, your children suffered. They suffered terribly.â
Considering how much noise the right makes about a woman having an abortion (which is odd considering it is about individual freedom of choice), it would stand to reason they wouldn't want drugs because of the suffering they incur.
The reason people pander to fears, is because it works, and it works because people wont retain a grasp on perspective.
True dat (thanks to Leonard). Just look at the pandering done for the UACA. ZOMG! You might get the flu or break a leg or get Ebola so you must hand over your money to a private company to pay your bills. ZOMG! The world will fall apart if you don't!
Slashdot has this issue particularly bad, actually.
people turn from supposed supporters of free speech, as if that should protect your job, to demanding resignations for saying the wrong thing all the time.
Free speech does not mean free from consequences. You can say whatever you want and people are free to react based on your comment. So if I were to tweet, "Damn niggas ruining the place. Should have hung em all 50 years ago", you are free to call me out in any way shape or form despite y right to free speech.
She's the same way. She (apparently) thought she was being funny but both failed miserably and picked a topic which harkened back to the time of Reagan (before she was born).
It bears repeating: The nice thing about free speech is it reveals to the world the true nature of an individual.
If your expensive creation can be destroyed by a single shot, why build it?
Because like in most IT projects, they concentrated on the big things and completely ignored the small stuff. In their case, they were worried about defending themselves against battleships (or whatever the rebels were using), not small, one-man ships.
In IT projects, everyone is so worried about getting the big things done, they miss the obvious little stuff. Let's build a web site where people can look up how much more they're going to pay for insurance. Great idea boss!
*9 months rolls by* We got the web site up and it looks fantastic!
Why aren't people using our site? Why does it keep crashing?
Um, we didn't account for how many people might want to look, including the media, didn't provide enough personnel to perform significant load testing and didn't allot enough time to check for bugs and inaccurate information.
Same thing with the Death Star. They wanted something big and powerful, to show the world how great they were. They didn't take the time to do the nitty gritty stuff which is necessary to complete a successful project (which is why 70% of IT projects fail).
and tries to make teachers be paid by performance.
So you're saying there shouldn't be any standards for whether a teacher does their job? They should just be able to show up and get paid? Where do I sign up?
Also, while Bill does push his Microsoft bent, his charity does provide tons of money for vaccinations and education in poor countries.
I simply oppose having government cameras everywhere.
But you wouldn't have an issue with a cop on every using a camera to film everyone who at the intersection, right? After all, you are in a public space.
It means you get to jail/fine any software companies who don't sign up for it,
And good luck getting a company to pay a fine. Or is this like the UACA where the government will reach into your bank account if you don't voluntarily hand over your money to private companies?
If you're trying to stifle companies and drive them out of business, or make them go elsewhere, this is a good way to do it.
But I guess living in your nanny state, that's the only way to get companies to produce better code.
Similar sound waves are used by dentists to remove plaque from teeth.
Having had one of these sound wave plaque removing treatments, I can assure you they do not work as well as the analog method. While the physical scraping might be less enjoyable, their results are far superior.
I'm not the only one with this opinion. Others I have spoken with say the same thing and you can use your favorite search engine to see similar comments from a multitude of people.
But just like mp3s, automatic transmissions, flappy-paddle gear changers and photography, to name just a few, the far superior analog method will eventually be replaced by the inferior method and people will think we're making progress.
Its purpose was to force insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions.
Wrong. The purpose was to force people to hand over their money to private companies whether they want to or not. It's called Fascism. Go look it up. The rights of business outweigh the rights of the people.
Because people are not required to pay for the services they receive, even a small amount if they are indigent, everyone else has been forced to pay those costs.
Now the opposite has occurred. One is forced to hand over money, month after month, and never get any benefit. If you can't pay the costs, everyone else gets to pick up that tab as well, in essence being charged TWICE for nothing in return. Once for being forced to hand over their money to a private company whether they want to or not, and a second time for those who were also forced to hand over their money but couldn't afford to.
Further, this penalizes the very people it's supposed to help: the middle class. They aren't rich enough to hand over money every month, but make too much to be eligible for subsidies. Guess what happens in that case?
then the mandate would come from the fact that taxes are mandatory
Except the UACA doesn't raise revenue, does it? One is forced to hand over their money to private companies, not the government and therefore is not a tax despite what the activist Republican Justice John Roberts said.
Still further, the UACA is not proportional as required by the Constitution. Unlike Federal Income tax, everyone pays a different amount regardless of their income so again, it is not a tax.
Nor are taxes mandatory. There are numerous ways to not pay taxes, just ask GE. The same with people from Maryland and New Jersey who come to PA to buy clothes because there is no tax on such purchases.
Finally, smokers, the obese, alcoholics and drug users never have to take personal responsibility for their actions. They can continue on their merry way knowing full well everyone else gets to pick up the tab when they need a lung transplant (in the case of smokers), heart bypass and related medical procedures (in the case of the obese), liver transplants (in the case of alcoholics) and paying for the cost to damage to property and lost productivity (in the case of drug users).
All these actions drive up the costs for everyone else because people do not have to take personal responsibility for their actions under the UACA. So how is that a benefit to me if my costs increase?
thus creating a fund that can pay for any bills incurred while uninsured.
What fund? There is no fund. Any money the government extracts from my bank account will be passed on to the private company. The government doesn't do anything.
But thank you for confirming the UACA isn't about health insurance or health care reform. It's to allow people to continue to leech off everyone else so they don't have to take personal responsibility for their actions while giving a huge windfall to private companies.
Hey Fox, are you going to cover this story where Kansas, a firmly Republican state, has all these regulations governing what a person can and can't do with their own body, or are you going to keep whining about the regulations for clean air and water?
Yeah, thought not.
You need Flash to listen to a song?
WTF has happened to KISS? Can web designers get any more pathetic?

Looks like we're both out of luck.
Here we have absolute proof that Linux is for Communists. Just as Steve Ballmer said. Only a commie would use free software to write code so they don't have to pay the evil capitalists their 30 pieces of silver.

The smoking gun has already been found,
Not according to Fox. On their opening broadcast when the initial emails were released, the first words out of the talking head's mouth was (as near as I can remember), "There was no smoking gun found in the documents released today about the New Jersey bridge shutdown."

How is it efficient if you drive as fast as possible? Fuel mileage decreases once you hit about 50 mph. After that you're driving your costs higher.
A report showing the effect and a chart which gives a graphical representation of this effect.

I wish. Instead they're coddled and some bullshit explanation for why they should be allowed to violate basic security is trotted out.
so it's usually the cops scoffing at the rules in these places.
So no different than network admins and programmers who scoff at security rules in a workplace.
ou've got to wonder why the folks on the right who care so deeply about individual freedom of choice and despise government intrusion in personal affairs are such big fans of the war on drugs.
Because drug use has such detrimental effects on society. Witness the issues with meth, squatters taking over people's homes, general neglect of both property and person. Perhaps the judge in this case summed it up best:
âoeYou liked drugs. For that, your children suffered. They suffered terribly.â
Considering how much noise the right makes about a woman having an abortion (which is odd considering it is about individual freedom of choice), it would stand to reason they wouldn't want drugs because of the suffering they incur.

Ever wonder why so many people complain about getting the flu right after getting a flu shot? GUESS WHAT?!
Thank you Jenny McCarthy for continuing to spread FUD.
