"Justice Thomas, dissenting, felt that a patent licensee in good standing must breach its license prior to challenging the validity of the underlying patent pursuant to the Declaratory Judgment Act, 28 U. S. C. 2201. 546 U. S. 1169 (2006). He held the opinion that the Court has consistently held that parties do not have standing to obtain rulings on matters that remain hypothetical or conjectural and that this was such a case."
Go read Einstein's paper on Special Relativity. It's quite short and easy to understand. There's basically no math whatsoever in it. It should drive the point home.
Because when you use video output right from the PC, you need to use the PC to control the video, switch to the next song/episode/whatever. With a Sling box you don't need to. You sit on your couch, or stay at your board game, or stay at the punch bowl next to the cute girl and use your remote. Or you can hand your buddy the remote and have him control it without having him sit down at your computer.
It's simple, easy, slick, and no one needs to touch a keyboard or mouse to change the song.
You can go to the grocery store and buy as much margarine (and whatever else) with trans fats as you want.
Trans fat has been prohibited for use by *restaurants* serving prepared food in New York City. It's a public health concern because there's no way for a patron to know whether the fried food they are ordering was made with regular fats and oils or the much more dangerous, not as tasty, and overall inferior trans fats.
Those markets are virtually nonexistent. No one cares about those things. The very few people who do are the tiny percentage of the market that have MP3 players other than iPods.
"All I know is it can knock 4000 dollars worth of computers I have sitting in front of me out of the ballpark graphicswise."
Does that $4000 computer have a $3300 case?
It's trivial to build a $1000 gaming computer that is significantly better than a PS3. Get an 8800GTS, a cheap Core Duo processor and mobo, 2GB of RAM, and a cheapo 160GB hard drive and you're in business.
This is a repost of something I posted previously:
The 30GB iPod takes up 31% less volume than the Zune and 42% less volume than the 30GB Creative Zen Vision:M.
The 30GB iPod has 15% less mass than both the Zune and the 30GB Creative Zen Vision:M.
The 80GB iPod has 167% more storage space than the Zune and takes up 12% less volume than the Zune.
The 80GB iPod has 33% more storage space, takes up 38% less volume, and has 12% less mass than the 60GB Creative Zen Vision:M.
The 80GB iPod has 167% more storage space, takes up 26% less volume, and has 4% less mass than even the 30GB Creative Zen Vision:M.
No one makes an MP3 player comparable to the iPod in the capacity/form factor department. Same goes for the Nano. iPod owns the market because Apple has no real competition.
BTW, the MobilBlu thingy is about 75% larger and 126% more massive than the iPod Nano, but the Nano comes in sizes up to 8GB and has a comparatively huge display, so I wouldn't say they directly compete.
The MobilBlu player is slightly larger and more massive than the iPod Shuffle, though the Shuffle doesn't have a display.
Ultimately, it comes in between those two - larger than the Shuffle, but includes a display... smaller and lighter than the Nano, but it has a comparatively tiny display and much less capacity.
The clincher for me is that the MobilBlu device is almost four times as thick as a Nano or Shuffle. It's cute, but it's not the best design in the world. I don't want something an inch thick sitting in my pocket.

How so? He hasn't done anything impressive in *years*.

Are you sure you knew which post I was replying to?
You don't know much physics, do you?

The PS3 is really functionally equivalent to the XBox 360, which is $200 less.
The iPhone is a totally new device in almost every way. There's nothing else like it anywhere.
$499 is the price with a 2-year contract from Cingular.
RTFA.

The Jack Thompson game was purely fictional.
This is a recreation of actual events.
Trans fat is still legal in New York.

I got them all off their respective web sites.

Is that the next step?
Experimental animals -> regular animals -> experimental humans -> regular humans??
No kidding. I read this and thought "um... no kidding? In what world did anyone think that the blind *couldn't* get deja vu!?"
Google can do it because it isn't a monopoly.
End of story, really. MSN Search, Yahoo Search, Ask.com, etc etc, make up a significant part of the search market.
The R&D and production costs of the consoles is spread out over a fairly large time frame.
It isn't like they calculate up the costs of building a PS3 and don't count it until they sell it.
"OK, we sold 200k PS3's this quarter, so write down $12 million in the 4th quarter revenue box and $16 million in the expenses box"
I never realized the MPAA was a law enforcement organization.
I wonder what else they need in order to enforce laws. Prisons? Armed agents? The power to arrest and seize property?
10% of people who get Windows viruses already dual boot into Linux and Windows?
Wow.
More like "We found a suitcase full these funny red sticks with clocks attached. Where did your wife park her car today?"
How would they get their troops here?
China has no Navy.

That's an LCD rear projection TV, which competes more directly with DLP and CRT than plasma or LCD panel.
We're talking about getting large, affordable direct-view LCD panels to compete with plasma televisions.
