    Banning oil exports/imports will cripple parts of industry.
    There are different types of crude. Different refineries process them specifically for their customers. Stopping that import of a type of crude that is essential to say the plastics industry won't fly.
    If any restrictions are imposed make the nett sum === Zero at the very least.

    Oil pumped in Texas is very different chemically from oil from Saudi and if different to North Sea. etc

    The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid in the middle of a recall where every vehicle is sent back to the factory for a software update.

    To add to my previous post, a building is more than just the Architecture.
    The furnishing/fixtures and fitting can make or break a building.
    Rennie Mackintosh understood this perfectly.

    There are many forms of modern architecture. I tend to like things from the Art Deco period and find some late Victorian Gothic very brutal just like 1960's urban/functional boxes. The latter are largely being torn down now but plenty still exist.

    The beauty of many buildings is 'in the eye of the beholder'.
    There are some excellent architechs around today but... some are awful.

  14. Windows 10S is also hobbled by design. Only Edge browser, Only Bing as a search engine, only Apps from the MS App store (a veritable desert)
    This is a walled garden that is higher than Apple's on the iPhone.

    You can get rid of the lock down by paying MS $$$$ but honestly, W10 is a dead OS walking as far as an awful lot of people are concerned.

  15. Air con is hardly ever used in this part of the world in homes. I'm at 51deg North and I'm S.W. of London. We just don't get the sort of temperatures that many parts of the USA get in summer.
    51Deg North is farther north than Toronto btw.
    My Electricity bill for the past 3 months was £40.00 and £3.00 for Gas.
    If I want to cool the house, I just open a few windows. The cross draught keeps it cool.

  16. When MS makes Windows 10S the Only OS that OEM's can install on their kit (don't forget the pay $$ to upgrade to 10-Pro option) then just about everyone who buys a PC from the likes of Best-Buy, PC-World etc.

    MS is aiming for a model where everyone pays for the upgrade and then pays daily/weekly/annually for updates and patches. Software rental is alive and kicking.

    Get used to it America. The Corporate Beancounters think that India is the answer to Life, The Universe and Everything.

    India is not the answer to anything except a life of pain.
    I know from bitter experience that the quality of code coming out of India is generally very poor and will often require extensive re-working to make it useful.
    No more though. My Job went to India at the back end of last year.
    The company wants me to come back and sort out the mess. Not going back even at twice the salary. They chose their fate.

    Please show me the channel tunnel where you can travel through without stopping. I'd love to use it.
    The current tunnel is RAIL only. That means cars/trucks/busses etc are loaded onto er Trains and you go through the tunnel.
    Granted that if you are in a car, you don't need to get out of the car for the whole thing. Perhaps that is what you meant.

    That's why the train has taken more than 50% of the market between London and Paris.
    Taking the train is no big deal here in Europe unlike the USA. I don't even think about taking my car into Central London. 45 minutes on the train and the ticket includes Busses and tube. Simple really.

    The fast trains between London and Paris (2hours city centre to city centre) has cut the number of flights dramatically between london and paris. More people are travelling between them now than ever before.
    The tunnel (road traffic) competes against the ferries. The Passenger tail service from London to Paris, Brussels etc competes against the airlines.
    I took the train from London to Avignon last year (a through service). Very much more civilised way of travelling than by air. Yes it took a bit longer but was far less stressful.

    Simple really but Hollywood would rather make endless sequels and prequels.
    Is it little wonder that I gave up on going to watch them years ago, there really was very little worth watching that wasn't full of bangs, explosions and car chases OR a stupid plotless romcom.
    Where are films like "North by Northwest" these days?
