These ransomware viruses are getting more sophisticated. You can only combat that with a multifaceted strategy. I backup entire images to my media server. I also backup the irreplaceable stuff to a separate folder which my media server backs up to Amazon S3 via S3FS (shell scripts!). Finally, I have an external drive which I plug in and backup to once a week. It's cold storage which the ransomware can't get to unless I fail to realize I've been compromised when I plug it in.
I get some Sql dll error every time I boot up windows 7. There's a fix to it, but it keeps happening. I hate iTunes. I only use it now if I need to backup my idevices or reinstall firmware. It's library management sucks. Check boxes? Copy the whole thing by default? Why can I drag and drop like Winamp when it was in its prime.
Depends on your market, I suppose. There are still some local personalities here. I used to be one, but fell victim to one of Clear Channel's employment massacres. I have a friend/neighbor is one that is still one. Again: more and more, not all.
Yeah very pointless. More and more stations are going to cyber jocks who wouldn't have the slightest clue about a tornado warning or flooded roads. The FCC should be more concerned about that. Local TV is much more effective at reporting local emergencies.
Put it on a portable drive, encrypt it and put it in a drawer/locker at work or family's house. No cloud required.
I encrypt my very important backups (pictures mostly, some documents and software development) and put them on Amazon S3. I also do the portable drive idea, but that is more like cold storage in case I get a nasty ransomware that finds all of my backups.
Agreed. She's saying she has no intentions of getting anything done. I haven't a shred of doubt she buys a product from one of those countries she talks about. I'm just glad she got this baseless asinine mud slinging out of the way early so I can write her off.
At least Cook is in a position where he can continue to "make a difference" which is why he said he came out in the first place. Can't expect to get everyone to follow you overnight if ever.
Them: Hello, sir, you're vehicle warranty has expired. How many miles are on your [insert car here]? Me: A million and a half. Them: Oh, okay... Me: Give me a warranty, I just totalled that bitch. Them: Have a nice day, sir. Me: Hey, you fuck, I want a warranty. How am I supposed to afford a new car?
Usually they just hang up as soon as you give them that kind of mileage, but you get the hang of it. They won't call back for about 6-8 months.
Agreed. I read probably more than everyone else in my circle of friends/family (except for some in graduate school) and I love e-readers. I recently spent $5 more on a text book that came in Kindle format not because reselling books is so shitty now, but because I could easily browse notes/highlights and bookmarks.
A class I'm taking now required me to buy the specific texts because they would reference page numbers in the books. I'll tell you it's hard going back to paper. Some of them are printed on cheap paper and it dries your finger tips, ink rubs off on you, and then there's breaking in the new books so they're comfortable to hold and read.
Unfortunately, you're right. People don't know what the hell this means. My local news tried to sum it up: net neutrality means your ISO can choose which web pages load quickly and which load slowly. Fail. Some people, myself included, attempted to correct them and educate readers in the comments. However, people quickly adopted a bipartisan, anti-regulation, or general anti-government mentality regarding the issue. Want to kill net neutrality? Put it in the hands of the people.
I'm amazed no one in the articles have ever stopped to think it's not just the government we should worry about? What about criminals who are by no means bound by the law? A dude breaks into your computer (or steals it) and he simply disappears in the shadow. The government steals your data, the spot lights come on, the media is all over it and they justify why and ultimately nothing happens to them. I'm just as worried about the fore.

Have the same issue with wifi on my HP laptop. This solution from Linux Mint forums worked for me: http://forums.linuxmint.com/vi...
Aye, drink that much regular soda and see if you find a link to heart disease, obesity, diabetes and renal failure.
The insulin release theory was proven false.
It just smelled like he died in the bathroom. My wife says the same thing about me.
Was my favorite phone. Jailbroken iOS 4 and Lockinfo back when Lockinfo was still good. Best damn phone I ever owned.

Troll?
Voting for the "lesser of two evils" because you don't think the candidate who you agree with will win is truly wasting your vote.
Win2k bad? Think you made a typo. Other than lack luster hardware support compared to Windows 98, it was much better.

A few past girlfriends have sent me nude pics, or otherwise risqué. I would consider it far beneath me to have shared them. I don't even have them anymore. It's sad guys don't learn not to be dicks. Also suggests to me, in the FSU girl's case, the guy had issues getting over her. He's a little bitch. Grow a pair. Want revenge? Bang/date her friends.
Here's how to handle the car warranty:
Them: Hello, sir, you're vehicle warranty has expired. How many miles are on your [insert car here]?
Me: A million and a half.
Them: Oh, okay...
Me: Give me a warranty, I just totalled that bitch.

...if I would live longer if I quit drinking, eating red meat, and smoking the occasional cigar. He said it would only seem that way.
Why not setup a base LAMP VM, clone it and adjust to your needs for a project?

the methods to solicit those sales is obviously a viable business model.

Light bulb, ceiling fan, thermostat and garage door opener support.
I'm holding out for Angry Birds on systemd before I migrate to it.
