I've personally called 911 before and given them the short and sweet. Albeit, I'm a nurse and former fire fighter and know what to provide: "2 car MVC, Any Street and Bob Road, 3 passengers with injuries, one ejected. Send EMS." American Heart Association's CPR algorithms say when to call 911 when performing CPR without help (i.e. at home, the office, etc) and it's not always right away. Considering you have less than a 10% chance of surviving full cardiac arrest and lose 1.5% every minute without advanced cardiac intervention, every second counts. When every second counts, sending a text is much quicker than waiting on the phone to make a connection and ring through.

I used a webhost some time ago and they used paypal for invoicing. Somehow after a while of manually sending payment every quarter via paypal, I was setup with a subscription and being debited the payments. The host went belly up and after moving hosts, I was debited again. I called paypal and explained the situation. They returned the funds to me. Nearly a year later, I was debited by the bankrupt host for two quarters of service. I called paypal and they told me to contact the merchant. The hosts phones were disconnected and my emails to them bounced. Paypal still refused to help but told me to contact the police. I instead disputed the matter with my bank who ruled in my favor. This left a negative balance in my paypal account. I expected paypal to debit me again, but they surprisingly removed the charge and zeroed the balance. I closed the account. They were only motivated to do the right thing after they were faced with picking up the tab. I have one now but use a debit card linked to an account I only put money in to spend.

Lock them up in isolation where they can't learn new criminal skills, feed them a less than satisfactory diet, and instead of setting them up with highschool and college degrees in prison make them get one after they are released as a way to get them to turn their life around. I've known people who find Jesus, get involved with a charity, or seek education as a means to get early release only to return to jail soon after.

I keep reading and hearing about problems that would sound like AT&T is an unusable service, but I keep making and receiving calls. The real losers are the two guys destroying evidence, Jason Chen buying stolen property, and Gizmodo. You have two people with no regard for the law answering to the law. Jason Chen is now the poster child of Internet bloggers who have watched too much Nancy Grace and came under the delusion that bringing out the worst in people and bashing cops on a *gadget blog* makes them more than sorry aspiring journalists. Gizmodo knows they're tucked in this. Did you read their first statements after Chen was searches? They cited a finders keepers law that didn't even apply to the situation. It not only showed a desperate attempt to defend themselves but they also read at a mediocre gradeschool level! To all taking the heat: nicely done, sirs!
