Well, unless Canon can come up with a better application than Photoshop, for high-end, professional image editing, then they're going to loose a lot of professionals who need Photoshop to get their work done.
I'm not doing business with crooks, but I don't know these people personally, so there's no way I can determine what they're going to do. So I have to impliment security practices, and most people actually are OK with this, and they are able to view a sample of their design just fine.
It's the mindset of most people that keep them from using Linux. They've been using DOS and Windows for YEARS, and they're so familar with how things are, that changing that even slightly is very confusing for most people. If Linux had been in Windows place, and had 90% of the market, people would LOVE Linux and HATE Windows. Simple as that.
For example, my dad is a Windows person, and his SO has a Mac with OS X. He can't seem to understand how OS X works, so he dissmisses it and claims that Windows is better (on the fact that he knows how to use Windows).
It's not that Windows is "special", it's just that that's all most people know. And half those people don't know much, if anything, about Windows anyway, so it's no wonder Linux has a difficult time trying to enter the mainstream market.
Many people are missing the big picture with Adobe Acrobat. (I freelance graphics) When I send a client a preview of the artwork, I use a combination of XMP, hand-built watermark by myself, and the security of Adobe PDF files. I can choose if someone is allowed to print or not, and I can restrict all modifications to it. So with all three security elements in place, I'm able to manage and control my work, without having to worry about them taking it and not paying.
How are they going to compete? With Linux, you get a fully-functional, multi-user Operating System that doesn't restrict you at ALL, and best of all, it's FREE!
FTFA: "mostly children (some as young as four) who are reportedly abducted or sold by their families to unscrupulous racing-camel owners."
Why is it that they're so worried about winning some meaningless race with camels? They need their ass kicked for even considering selling a child. I can't understand how cold people can be sometimes to do something like this.
So you buy a Mac Mini, and want a free OS alternative? Why? First off, you already paid for OS X (which, BTW, is a damn good OS), so tell me again why would you need to install NetBSD or Yellow Dog Linux?
It's easy. All they had to do in order to avoid all the bad press is to start out with it being Open Source. The GPL states that you can charge for a product, or do whatever you like with it, just as long as your provide the source code. And if you use source code from another project (PearPC), then you have to acknowledge it.
It was so simple and easy, I don't know why they didn't Open Source Cherry OS from the begining.
Maybe Sony should have realized that no one really wanted to play games with the PSP, and released a PSP that includes a Linux OS, and has the ability to work just like a standard computer, only smaller.
Mod parent up. This is exactly what makes IE such a risk, is that it IS tied into the whole Windows OS. Dave Massy doesn't know what he's talking about.
Jerry: I thought the whole dream of dating a doctor was debunked.
Elaine: No, it's not debunked, it's totally bunk.
Jerry: Isn't bunk bad? Like, that's a lot of bunk.
George: No something is bunk and then you debunk it.
Jerry: What?
Elaine: Huh?
George: I think. (Pause as they all look down)
Elaine: Look it, I'm dating a doctor and I like it. Let's just move on.
FTFA: "While they do give credit to Apple's iTunes for search inspiration"
Do they mean "Spotlight?"

It has to end sometime, it can't go on forever, TV shows and movies don't last that long...wait, nevermind. A Star Wars trailer just appeared on TV...
I saw this on 60 Minutes last night, it was pretty interesting.
FTFA: "Dashboard, a controversial new feature that owes more than a little to a third party application called Konfabulator."
I fail to see how it's "controversial". Unless the author as something against little widgets on his screen.
Widget hater...

Did they reverse engineer the iPod Shuffle?

Compete? How?
Where does it end with the music industry?
From the virial marketing site: "chaos with penguins"
Shhhh, Microsoft has hidden a secret message in their viral marking website, ourcolony.net
Uh no. I don't think most Americans want to work for 10 cents a day.

What's the point of that?
FTFA:"We are still looking at AMD; they have fairly good technology"
Fairly good? What rock have they been hiding under all these years?
Further proof that George Lucas has lost his mind...actually, he can stop with the proof now, this is like the 200th thing so far...
You must be new here.

Yesterday:
Apple will sometimes seed several final candidate builds before one is declared gold master...'"
Today:
Tiger build 8A428 has been deemed the Gold Master for shipping
Damn that was fast! I can't believe I miss those builds!

Unless space travel gets REALLY cheap, I don't think anyone but the wealthy will be able to actually go into space.
Most people can barely afford house notes, car notes, insurance, etc...
Early 1990's....*shudders*
