  1. Linux is doing something right on Ask Microsoft's Martin Taylor About Linux vs. Windows · · Score: 3, Interesting

    Question:

Linux must be doing something right, if one of the largest software companies in the US is devoting money and energy to dismiss Linux. Why can't you be confident in your own product? If you were confident in Windows, you would let the Windows OS speak for itself. So are you making up for the failure of Windows by focusing attention on Linux?

"...for some reason, even though I've asked it not to, Microsoft Windows XP occasionally opts for the best wireless connection instead of my wired ethernet cable, which is faster. When this occurs, I am able to browse the internet using the nearby company's DSL line (for which they are presumably footing the bill), but I usually cannot tell the difference."

Turn off your wireless card, dumbass.

  13. White List on The Spam Conference 2005 · · Score: 1, Informative

The only way to truely stop spam is build a white list, in which you can only recieve e-mail from the addresses on the white list. The downfall is that you cannot recieve e-mail from people that aren't on the list.

But if you only send and recieve e-mail from a few select people on your e-mail account, then a white list may be a good option for you.

But it's not like anything gets through, anyways. I have a spam filter set up, and a few other tricks on my blog, and it stops 99% of spam.
