That's not PearPC/CherryOS's fault, they aren't violating anything, the person who installs it is. Remember that there are alot more uses for PPC hardware and its emulation than OSX.
Also, "You may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy, and you may at your option offer warranty protection in exchange for a fee." What Mandrake etc do is either offer their own tools bundled with your purchase, free techsupport, manuals etc etc. You can't just change the code around a bit, and charge 100$ for it, and not give the customer anything. Also note that the download of CherryOS is a *trial* download. You are supposed to be allowed to download the thing for free since it's GPL'd code.
It only emulates the hardware that runs OSX, not OSX itself, you still need the osx cd's/dvd to use this. It doesn't violate "Apple's software license" in any way.
Why? Don't worry dear linux zealots, he still run's linux on it, just the ppc64 port. Who wouldn't use a dual G5 system that was given to them for free? Read the article, or at least the article description next time.
until they could beat eachother? I could take a walk down to the woods, grab two twigs, and have them arm wrestle eachother, but I'm guessing (and hoping) the winner of the match still wouldn't be able to face a human:P:)
Notice how the xbox had a better cpu then the other consoles? That's not outdated. You have to realize that running on OS (and from your response I'm guessing Windows, which makes my point stronger) sucks alot of cpu speed. So 1GHz on a PC doesn't yield the same kind of power 1GHz on an identical chip would for a video game console. Know what your talking about before you post.
Wow, you'd think that Slashdot, which is a portal for news, not a news site, which posts summaries of news articles and a link, and provides a forum for posts, would get more original articles. Well you would if you were retarded. Engadget etc write stories, slashdot links to them. I think you've misunderstood something.
We've known this for years and years, like come on, of course things going at thousands of miles an hour could cause damage to things flying at thousands's of miles an hour, duh, but why, with all the satelites orbiting earth, and all the shuttles sent up haven't ever been severly damaged (columbia doesnt count because thats not what happened) by the shit? You can't call it luck, maybe if we only had the shuttles, but there are hundreds of satelites orbiting the earth 24/7, so why don't they get hit?
They aren't suing the sites for disclosing the information moron, they are forcing them to give the names of the employees who BROKE THE LAW by disobeying their NDA's and giving the info out. Next time RTFA
Haven't contributed anything back? What's the "Open Source Projects" nav bar about then? Sure, they don't open source every piece of software, but that is because they are a hardware company. Most of those projects are apple's own, not just borrowed code, like the kernel. Hell, Apple even has a livecd somewhere for an x86 port of darwain. Sure it sucks, and supports like no hardware, but apple does give back.
the first X-Box higher level of excellence? Now I'm not saying it sucks, but it's not a higher level of excellence. It's an older pc repackaged into a smaller box, with usb controllers, the first of which were halariously huge. Nothing higher level about it (for better or worse) Seriously, its what any non gaming 45 year old buisness man (if they had ms's credit card # to front the loses of being more costly to produce) would think up. Cut and dry. (Again, not trolling on the xbox, just your views:) )
SQL Server When you are trying to prove a serious point, don't use sarcasm against yourself:)
WINNT HAL Higher level of excellence? Me thinks you don't have a clue what you are talking about;)
I jsut got a MacMini awhile ago, great computer. Installed the bsd tools and developer crap, and half a billion other things. Right now linux is much more productive for my programming, but once I learn xcode on OSX im guessing that will change.
It's not a dupe, it was first announced (now) - x days/weeks/months/years ago where x is some unspecified ammount of time. Now this story has to do with the time specified in the article beforehand, in which billy would officially become a knight or something, is at hand. Mod parent -1 redundant.
BSD seems to always get clumped in with unix. Don't see why, unless its the commercial BSD's but meh I'm assuming it is included in the unix category (with OSX too I bet)
So wait, OSX for x86 comes out, and suddenly every x86 hardware company (see: one million) comes out with new drivers for OSX, and hey look they're just as bug free as the ones for the ppc osx. Anyway the idea of plugging in code to the HAL willy nilly is a scary idea, for stability and security. The problem I can see on linux is hey - not all hardware works, and a large amount of it is still experimental (not bashing it or anything, its better than windows which could be considered 100% experimental, and OSX which has it easy, with the lack of diverse hardware on ppc)
I have a mac mini, trust me, once you get a PC that has more than just hardware (lack of noise from fans, only bring a cd-ish thick etc) you don't want to back. Hell, I haven't used my linux setup in awhile because I can't stand the fan noise anymore. Ditto with the case size.

Not look like a dork using a dell portable product? Ha.
Why are you still using OS9? The only time I use it is to play the old bungie games, and that doesn't count because I'm running OSX at the same time.
Alright, I'm going to charge you 500% tax on 0$. So how much have I charged you?
Nope, you didn't even read the article summary did you? It's to boot a computer, using the ipod as an hdd, not running linux on the ipod.
That's not PearPC/CherryOS's fault, they aren't violating anything, the person who installs it is. Remember that there are alot more uses for PPC hardware and its emulation than OSX.
You still have to give credit for where you got it from.

Considering every windows user has malware, I think MS cares. Not even MS has infinte bandwidth.
What the hell is rendevous then? Most of that stuff is NON-GPL'd code. Most of it is apple's own creation.
Developers don't have to sign exclusive contracts to develop for apple products, and havent for a long time.
