A platform for this has existed almost as long as the web itself. PICS is a W3C standard for labeling content. There is a working draft out for an RDF-based version of PICS called POWDER.

PICS ratings are assigned by the IRCA, now part of The Family Online Safety Institute.

The problems with PICS adoption were predictable. First, like with the V-Chip, few parents enabled content filtering on their browsers, or even knew that feature was available. Second, the honest content providers, the ones who got their sites labeled for language, violence, or adult situations, got screwed because of all the sites out there who didn't opt into the system, and which could be viewed by everyone.

"Location-based" services need good data on where someone is. If I'm trying to find coffee shops nearby, for example, it doesn't help if the only ones I can find are several towns over.

I highly recommend This Week @ NASA, because they don't just talk about the shuttle, but all the missions & experiments going on in the agency. The Shuttle & Station podcast has all your takeoff & landing footage, usually within a day of it happening, and in addition to the usual footage, you get odd stuff like the video of the launch from a camera on the fuel tank.

If you really want to be blown away, get an HDTV and subscribe to DirecTV with HDNet. They broadcast every shuttle launch & landing within a few days of it happening, and it's an hour long show with footage of Mission Control, and interviews up to the big moment, and it's all broadcast in 1080i with digital sound.

Them: Yes, we do see that, we see one charge has cleared and another pending

They should have explained things a little better. When a card is charged, it's a two-step process: authorization and capture. At authorization, they've told the merchant "yes, this transaction can go through and we'll hold the money for you". A merchant can't undo an authorization. The money doesn't get sent until capture, usually a nightly process. If a charge isn't captured within a certain amount of time (24 hours to a few days), the bank rescinds the authorization automatically.

They should have explained that there was a chance the merchant realized their mistake and wasn't going to capture the funds. If you contacted the merchant and let them know the situation, they probably could have prevented capture too. But, if the charge ended up being captured, you would need to file a dispute.

As a merchant, this is the way I want things to work. If an authorization goes through, I don't need to wait until I have the money in my account to ship someone their order. If they could back out of an authorization before capture, the authorization would be meaningless and I'd probably see a lot more fraud.

I could have written the same thing. The fast boot and the "easy mode" launcher are enough to get me into the apps I need quickly. It's really cool to see KDE with Compiz Fusion running on the Eee, but when I'm running EeePCLinuxOS, what apps do I run? The same ones I pull up in "easy mode".
