Nothing to do with hard work or spending money wisely. Stop buying things - that will magically generate money.

Yes, it is amazing how cheap you can create something when you don't have to spend much on research costs, and steal other peoples ideas. This is the other side of the patent problem - would we have so much investment if somebody on the other side of the world can simply steal the idea? (this is what they do today, but they have problems trying to sell these devices in the US)

And just think, what sort of horrendous hardware protection on devices would we see to prevent other companies from stealing ideas - a plastic box that explodes when you open it?

Bonus stuff on a DVD just annoys me. When I get a movie, I just want to watch the movie. I have no interest in how it was made, or feel like hearing the cast and crew talk themselves up. Now, with a DVD, I just want to stick it into the machine, and the movie starts playing - but no, I get all this crap instead, telling me not to pirate and dolby sound commercials, etc... Then, when it is finished, I have to tell it to play the bloody movie - why doesn't it just play it straight away - ridiculous.

What this concept is trying to do, is to stop poverty at different levels, and in different ways. Can't you really see that. I mean it is certainly important to ensure that people are not starving to death, and have clean water and good shelter. But we are trying to avoid the situation where we are constantly saving people, and trying to encourage these countries to support all of their people. One way to do this is improve the lives for those people who are just under the poverty line, but not quite starving yet.

Maybe this will change in the next few years with better camera addons to phones, like the sony-ericcson cybershot phones, but I am not so sure. These are more like specialist phones.

After reading your page, it seems you were upset because Apple didn't take over the world. And because Apple made some questionable business decisions. And because 10 years after you bought your first mac it broke.

You are getting upset about the wrong things. You need to consider how the mac works for you. You seem to be making decisions for all the wrong reasons. Because you didn't want a 80386 - why do you care what CPU the machine uses??

BTW, I have not owned a mac for about 10 years, but not because of any of these silly reasons.

    1) criticize the United States for using it's intelligence resources to protect itself from a corporation operating out of Communist China.

I too wonder about the people on slashdot who get upset about this. This seems like a reasonable thing to do. Spying on other countries has been going on for a long time, simply because having that extra bit of information is so useful. Not log after that, counter-intelligence was invented to try to stop spying, and that is all they are doing here.

    2) criticize the US for not using intelligence resources "_enough_" to protect its ports/borders/etc.

Criticism is valid, there is nothing wrong with that. Many people believe that the US is focusing on the wrong areas. I don't think this is a wrong area, but there is nothing wrong with asking people int he government to justify why they are doing something.

    3) criticize the US for using intelligence resource "_too_much_" by wire-tapping potential terrorists.

Come on...Potential terrorists is pretty much everyone. The problem with this is that it breeds mistrust and paranoia. There were rules against this for a reason. The government would love to know everything that its population is doing at all times, but this environment is not a good place to live.
