  1. Consumers have no respect for themselves on Car Manufacturers Want To Monitor Drivers Inside Their Cars (reuters.com) · · Score: 1

    Smart phones.

  2. I'd be shocked, SHOCKED if there was a part of Amazon that didn't collect all of the data that they could. That's what they do. That's how they make money. Of course they're looking at your stuff. You're PAYING THEM TO.

  3. So what? Can a plumber intentionally break pipes to to prove a point? Can a teacher deliberately teach wrong information to prove a point? Can an aircraft controller crash a plane to prove a point? In what profession is it OK to intentionally do your job badly to prove a point?

  4. Pastureland is the greatest use of land on Planet Earth. At some point, people will have to stop eating meat, whether you like it or not.

  5. He submitted fake papers to journals, and called them research. That's the exact opposite of what scientists are supposed to do. He lied. He should lose his job. If he had a point to make, that wasn't the way to do it. He should've handled it like a grown-up.

  6. Why do I suspect you're a useless leeching academic publishing a constant stream of bullshit "gender" studies?

I don't know. Maybe because you don't have two brain cells to rub together?

Some of the accusations against him are wholly false.

    Like which ones?

The rest are straight up bullshit

    Like which ones?

Do you just type words on the screen and hope they make sense?

  7. The publishers were exposed. The school is protecting them.

What in the hell are you talking about?

Here's hoping for a nice big countersuit. It should have real legs.

There's no lawsuit in the article. Are you just a really bad troll, perhaps?

  8. You're just saying words that makes no sense. One charge is that he falsified data. He did. There's another one that he violated ethical guidelines. He clearly did. "Libel" and "slander" don't mean, "my feelings got hurt". Also, you can't sure over hurt feelings. You don't know what you're talking about.

  9. What "golden goose" are you talking about? The publications maybe didn't do their job, but the university is doing their job. They're punishing somebody who is knowingly publishing false information. T

  10. Slandered? No he hasn't. Nobody has said anything untruthful about what he did, as far as I can tell.

  11. This is part of the "system": submit bullshit, and you get reprimanded (or fired). There's no "system" for checking to see every paper published is 100% accurate. There's also no "system" to make sure that nobody murders anybody else. What there is in both cases, is the threat of punishment. That's what's happening.

  12. Sue for what, exactly? He was the one who broke the rules. He should get reprimanded or fired.

  13. Exactly. You said it better than I did.

That's not really a computer. There's a very limited amount of things you can do with it. It's pretty much a big smartphone that doesn't make phone calls.

  16. Don't buy new on Ask Slashdot: Which Laptop Should I Buy For My First Employee? · · Score: 0

Don't buy a new one. There's no reason to. It's a terrible waste of money, like buying a new car. Spend a few hundred bucks and get one of the tens of thousands of like new refurbs out there.

  17. If I go to somebody else's house that has one of these things, all I have to do is to say, "Alexa, order one case of XY lube. Ship overnight." or some silly shit like that. The stupid things get unplugged every time I do that.

Illegal immigration doesn't cost money. It's probably a net overall GAIN to the US economy (https://clas.berkeley.edu/research/immigration-economic-benefits-immigration).

I'm not sick of it. I want more immigration. I have friends that are here illegally, and they contribute a lot socially and economically.

Hahahahahahaha. You must not be American. In the US, people who run companies are more likely to get hit by lightning than get arrested. Corporations are free to break just about any law. They may get a financial penalty, but that's about it.

124 dead people. Zero arrests. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

  23. These rednecks are angry because they're stupid and lazy. They are pissed because they expect life to be easy for them because... Instead, they're the dumbshits who choose to ignore school and hard work and now are angry that the nerds are doing so much better in life than they are. I dealt with these people as a kid, but never as an adult. What a bunch of stupid dipshits.
