Ive got to say something about what you said about EQ2. For one, plenty of people were playing on the servers, but some were over-crowded from the get go, thus, leaving some servers pretty barren, that doesn't just automatically mean no one was playing...Two, SOE didn't have enough servers to start with, they had to add multiple servers within the first week of the launch. It was a massive launch, Mistmoore, my server, went down multiple times daily because it was so overcrowded. They've done 2 server splits to migrate people to other servers because it's so full.
Oh, and Tribes, yeah, definitly better than Tribes II =D
I love EQ, and EQ2. But, there comes a time when you have to group. Certain things you'd like to accomplish, say, for example, the Centaur Mastery quest. The Mastery quests require you to collect 5 items of the said creature, in order to Master the creature, as well as 3 non-droppables. The only problem is, most centaurs are ^^, meaning they are much more difficult to defeat, and you will not defeat them solo unless they are grey to you in considering, or, you group up. Giants are even worse, because they're higher level, and the pieces don't drop as often, and you will not have any good luck trying to kill them solo, it just is not going to happen quickly anyhow. If you'd like to solo, go ahead. But I say, GOODLUCK, as an MMORPG is meant to play with multiple people, such it is, being a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER game. Soloing also yields the least exp unless you kill even cons, or yellow cons. But, you will have downtime. Grouping is always a better choice, why? because:
1-You meet new people(Which isn't always great anyway, some are immature and stupid, flat out, there I said it)
2-Exp intake is much more than solo, you take on much harder mobs, which give much better exp
3-You learn to play your class better, not generally saying you have to play a certain way, but you get to learn how to best use your skills, what their advantages are, and disadvantages as well.
4-Those items you see higher level people have, yeah, you know you could use that +5AGI ring, right? Well, you're not going to get it playing solo, unless you could afford it. You have more of a chance to win it fighting, than spending a bunch of moola buying it.
This is all EQ2 experience by the way. Sure, it's a PITA sometimes to group with people who act stupid, aka-y0 that phAt l00t was t!ght y0, i'm g0!ng to g0 g3t s0m3 h0t w00d3lf f0r s0m3 lat3 n!ght l0v!n w/ th!s phAt l00t. Or the ever annoying, PLEASE JOIN MY GUILD WE ARE THE BEST IN THE GAME (Even if the game has been up for a month...and they have capslock on...and they sound like they're going to laugh at the word genitalia) For me, I just ignore it as much as I can(And boy do I try not to blow it). But grouping is only going to help you understand your class, and help you proceed in the game.
This has been on the Launchpad for weeks. If you haven't checked it out, just like the Basic Crafting, and Advanced crafting guides...well, you should be! Lots of good info here, like a, How to get EQ2 to run and what options you should turn off to get a better framerate.
I agree with you! When I worked at EBX we never had new PS2s or XBOX's, and only were able to take 230 or so DS preorders. We had GBA-SPs, and 1 or 2 new PStwos, but those were gone and sold, and returned because they didnt work with some things.

Anyways, apparently they didnt want me as an employee because they couldnt pay the store to keep me employed. And I heard that the store used up too many hours already this year. But the issue I have with it is all the big name titles. We do 12am releases on Tuesday mornings, we do longer hours for the DS or GTA:SA etc. So it makes no sense ot me why they would want to cut those hours down, or not add more hours because of the big holiday season it is. *sigh* I was seasonal help, so I knew it wasnt a big part-time position. Heh, but I worked 4 weeks =\. And, *update* they told me they may call me to come in and work since the paperwork is all done, and i'd be rehired like that *snaps fingers*. So, i'm "on call" now. I wish they'd make up their mind.
True, true. But I think it's truly the year of the sequel if we look at what games are coming out. GTA:SA, Halo 2, HL2, Doom 3, etc. etc. Just so many big titled sequels, is what I meant to mean.

WoW, yes, waiting lines, and cartoony graphics. If that's your thing, good for you. I like the bump mapped textures, the heat shimmer, the 5.1 surround audio(maybe WoW has that, I dont care to know). Evergrind is not like it actually. Ive become level 24 within 7 days of played time. In EQ1, that wouldn't have been so possible w/o a decent group. It is fun leveling, but, as I said, nobody's really taken a look at it, they're stuck on your newbie WoW. Have fun w/ your, phat l00t.
Anyone know where I can find this info out, but about EverQuest II? It seems as though publications, reviewers, etc. seem to be pushing it aside in way of World of Warcraft. Now, how is that very respectful? Did EverQuest I not give us the MMO's we play today? Did it not blow open the genre for massive multiplayer games? Sure, we had Ultima, and some others, but EQ wasnt called EverCrack for nothing. I agree the first one was fun. And for it to be on a top 100 or top 13 chart like that is good. The kids these days may not realise it, but without that game there wouldn't be GTA3 or VC. So bow down to your king you children, GTA 1 was where it was at those days. 3 and VC do so well nowadays because of the different technology. They didn't have the greatest technology back then to run something like GTA3 or VC.
So all you fan boys, don't give us older players your whining petitions that 3 and VC are the best. Because you wouldn't have nothing without 1.
There are so many of you that just put everything down, anyhting new that comes in, you have to put it down. Don't you guys know anything? Why are you so negative about these great things coming to our consoles, PCs, and handheld peripherals?
