Having you drive around in a stupid buggy vehicle or a boat half the game should've brought this rating down at least a few points.
I know some people actually enjoy vehicles, but i think it should have been more optional to use them. I certainly would have enjoyed the game more walking/running everywhere i needed to go.
How did you manage to lose 4 years of data because of the SP1 installer? I lost data a number of times in the past --my own fault usually, but most the time i could recover at least about 90% without too much trouble (even after formatting and reinstalling OS a few times on the same drive).
What did the SP1 installer actually do that you could not recover the data?
Capture 20 years in 100 games? Of course we're going to miss some personal favortires.
Some games i spent many hours with: Elite, Simcity, Lemmings, OMF2097
When someone asks me what my all-time favorite games are i tend to include old fps games like Doom, Quake, Shadow Warrior, ROTT, Duke Nukem 3D, Hexen... the lot.
While in my memory these were all superb games which i spent many hours playing i must admit only few were still appealing when i tried them again. You find out game play of fps games has improved in a subtle yet essential way.

I'm going out on a limb and assume you've googled this question prior to submitting it to ask slashdot.
You will notice the amount of.ru sites in the result. Other websites offer free proxies which turn out to not be so free after all.
You know 1% of your time is nowhere near reality. You could end up spending half your time on sysadmin work, especially if you don't really know how to do it (and have to learn for a book you dind't want to read to begin with).
Not to say you aren't smart enough, but obviously both the system administration and your coding will suffer if you don't feel up for the job.
Well, he also says in the article that Europe has to start playing ball in the software industry which implies it needs to start writing open source software/get involved more. Not just use it...
What is this guy talking about? Europe needs to take a more proactive approach to open source or risk missing out. So what?? I get to use great open source software from somewhere else?
I've always wanted to play an RTS where all the grunts on the ground were live players.
I'd like to see this work, it's a really cool concept.
You'd need a system where disconnected players get swapped for ones in queue or something though.
What if this means we won't be padded down anymore?!

Top Mice Compared
·
· Score: 1
There's plenty of people who don't care at all if the mouse doesn't respond well.
I've had mice where i would have to pick a mouse up and move it back to the top of the mousepad and drag it down repeatedly to make it move halfway across the screen. (the older ones with the mouse ball).
All i would get when asking the user if they didn't find that annoying was a 'what is the problem here exactly?' look.
My only hope for this game is that they don't have me drive in a buggy like HL2 did. It's okay to do a 2 minute drive to get somewhere quickly, but please don't make it last half the game.
Quality internet radio shows, movie trailers, game demos ( >500MB demos are not rare these days..), linux iso's, mp3 (legal).
Anyway, you're probably right thinking most people who use more than 30GB bandwidth per month on their private connection are downloading films or whatever but where do you draw the line. Just like software is increasingly taking up more size because HDD space is so cheap, so is content on the internet because broadband enables us to get it. Linux iso's are getting dvd size, game demos get bigger and bigger...
When i just had broadband i'd download whatever (just because i could, and if it wasn't worth my diskspace i would just delete and download some more) and i must say it was pretty easy coming up with 150GB/month.
from the Wikipedia article on Bram Cohen
In April 2001, Cohen quit MojoNation and began work on BitTorrent. Cohen collected free pornography to lure beta testers to use the program in the summer of 2001. The program became an instant hit with Linux users who wanted to swap their enormous pornography libraries^w^w open-source programs, but gained its true fame (and infamy) for its ability to quickly share large music and movie files online.
I like games that have instant action. In UT2004 i love this option to just push up my level toward Godlike by just playing a couple quick rounds every now and then.
I think there's some RTS games that have this as well. You just can play a quick map instead of (part of) a campaign.
I use Cookieculler to protect those cookies I value (cause not all cookies are out there useless) and I delete the rest frequently.

Also this site has some nice templates
Well at least your post in this topic helped me remember the title of a game i used to play on the Apple, Deja vu! Thanks :-)
Right, i was already thinking it's a slow news day when they put up this 2 day old story.
Surely you don't need a lie detector to detect someone's tress.
I know...sorry

I'm afraid it is you who needs a dictionary.
Words like m4d and l33t-5k1llzd don't seem to be spelled properly.
sorry for that... I do agree this new definition of hardcore doesn't make much sense.

At some point it makes more sense to give stuff away to get goodwill from customers who are buying your newest toys anyway.
Or sometimes --like with GTA & GTA2, you can even get the oldies without owning the lastest.
