I honestly didn't understand, I hated that movie, that guy wasn't a geek, he was a retard. But I guess whatever you like right? I always see this restaurant commercial on tv where the idiot does his impression of napoleon asking for a sub. Oh well. On to good news, Superman movie!!! Comming out on June 29th 2006. Sweet.
I don't think this guy knows what he is talking about, you made some good points, and I'd like to add Call of Duty 2 is excellent and I bought Brothers in Arms Road to somthingorother it sucked so bad I forget the rest of the name, anyway the first brothers in arms was the worst WW2 shooter and he bought the second one, so we are supposed to trust this guys opinion. And as for sweatshop games, well my fiancee would be pretty unhappy if I didn't get her the lastest expansion to the Sims 2, which is also against his counting rule.
get a "hell no!!!" I mean WTF, if there is a market for ad blocking and we filter spam then why the hell would we want targeted ads delivered directly to desktop. HAH HAH HAH HAH Microsoft. Idiots
First, the article was aimed at gamers so why would you feel the need to point out your system doesn't have any games, ok so great you have a production only system. I prefer to leave my work at work and play at home, my home computer has nothing to do with my productivity at work. Second that's great so you have a list of books you are reading, are you insinuating that gamers don't read? I read several books a week during my commute time to university. I honestly can't say a computer game has messed up my system, that is a rather broad assertion that games mess up systems.
but I suppose like any research I wouldn't use it exclusively. It's probably not a good idea to rely on a singular resource anyway. I'm not really sure why I don't use it, it's out there, it's popular and I'm sure it's easy to use I've just never felt any particular draw to it.
Just thought I might point out before you go spouting off you assumptions, here http://www.un.org/Depts/dpko/dpko/contributors/200 5/aug2005_2.pdf are the personnel contributions to UN peace keeping missions as of August 2005, as you will see the U.S. is very far down the list, far from providing this bulk of forces. I would like to see where you got the figures manetary contribution. Nice to see you post you BS anonymously
"Everything the UN gets involved in turned to shit.... They are ineffective and powerless"
While not every UN resolution has been successful and they have had some failed operations, the UN has made huge inroads in areas of Human Rights, they have ended conflicts peacfully and more than peace keeping the UN also provides relief efforts all over the world every year. So again inspite of any failings, the UN has saved many lives, besides, you can't always stop wars between factions bent on destruction. This isn't all just a UN issue.
stupid people from giving out their information to phishers. Really who would be so dumb as to scan their finger and send a copy in reply to an email? You would have to be....ahem pretty um dumb. Nevermind.
What about raynauds Syndrome. My Own mother suffers from this and causes her fingers to go cold. She wouldn't be able to buy groceries in the winter if the scanner checked temperature. For about an hour after being outside in the cold she has "dead fingers" they get all white and look kinda like deflated baloons. It's gross. Here's some back ground info. http://www.niams.nih.gov/hi/topics/raynaud/ar125fs .htm
In my own experience, I have been able to purchase a product, for example a flat panel monitor, and been able to get the best product for my money. I can first find a product I think I want, go find some reviews (reviews from people who own one, tech reviews are nice for specs but I like to know what the real buyers thought as well) find out what is good and what is bad, decide if I can live with the bad or perhaps if one model up is better value and then shop around for the best price and compare shipping rates. It's all there and as an earlier posting said, you know it could take a few days to recieve so why not take the time and do it right.
I agree, but a parent oddly enough can do a really bad job of parenting and the kids can turn out to be good well adjusted people.
In my field of work I have seen kids decide not to behave badly or do bad things just because they weren't raised properly ie, abused and/or ignored. Kids that decide that no, I choose how I behave and I don't let my history dictate my present or future.
It all comes down to the person deciding to take responsibility or not. In the end this kid just saw a way out without thinking of the consequences ie, went from stealing a car and getting caught, bad but not as bad to Car theft, 3xmurder and escape lawful custody. Now that everything has gone from bad to worse he needs an out, and hopfully he won't get it.

All you have to do is look for the help it's out there in forums and how to websites. I'm sure you can even find decent books on the subject.
Well it's difficult to think of any complicated system or even simple systems that work out of the box without configuring them to your own needs (requires time). I thought suggesting a DIY was better than offering nothing constructive at all. Since cheap doesn't alway mean reliable, or require not effort to setup.
Cheapest option is probably to build it yourself. There are plenty of resources to help you and lots of people too answer your questions. Besides then you have bragging rights for building it yourself!
I agree, the problem with this show all along has been the fact that it was mired in medocrity. I have watched every episode of every series of Star Trek (No I'm not one of those if I was I would have memorised all the scripts). From the start I never felt I couldn't miss the next episode. Not to mention IMHO T'pol just didn't do it for most Trek guys the way 7 did. Finally, the times slots that Enterprise got just sucked and made it difficult to choose Enterprise.
A buddy of mine who happens to be a programmer grows alfalfa sprouts in his window, they are easy to care for and he uses one of those busboy trays like in a restraunt as a planter. Also he has a really nice beer glass filled with nice stones and water and stuck some bamboo into it, then these nice offshoots grow from the sticks.
I agree with most of what you say, but the last part about natural disasters being relatively unknown, especially in the past year. For instance my own town was hit by a flood this past summer, I live in Peterborough Ontario, though the devastation was nothing compared to the asian tsunami, you would have thought it was the end of the world around here. I'm not kidding when I say people are still crying about their losses around here and trying to collect money. Nobody died in the great peterborough floods, but you wouldn't know it the way people cried and are still crying, plus the city was paralised for nearly a week. Although now many people are starting to shut the remaining whiners up by pointing out just what it really mens to lose everything.
I disagree, much of the worlds population lives on coastal areas or inland but below or slightly above sea level. Nearly every country with a coastal border can be affected. LA, San Diego on the west coast of the US would suffer enormous casulties, for those in canada, Vancouver & Victoria. The east coast is just as bad. These are only two major cities in each country. Aside from human casulties think what this kind of event could do to your countries economy. All that aside, the tsunami was a result of an earth quake, which as we know can affect nearly every inland place in the world that is near a fault line.

You and Godeke are right, my apologies. Chalk it up to a grouchy morning and missing some information.

And what was that cartoon that featured "Private Public" and "General Specific"?
Ok fine mod offtopic all you want, but parent sig is awesome, I love it, I want octodog!! I laughed my ass off when I saw it.

Why is this on slashdot? This is already in the regular news sites. This is not stuff that matters, nor is it news for nerds.

You can even use windows media player to rip it once you've disabled auto-run, then you are free to burn it or put it on your ipod.

I disagree, I believe he used it twice! :) Unfortunately it worked both times!
