  1. Cable Converter on New Patent on TV Forces You to Watch Ads · · Score: 1

So what if someone grabbed one of those set top cable converters, or a VCR or similar technology and ran the cable through that first and then to the TV, effective leaving the TV on channel 3 and switching the channel by the alternate device? Simple solution to a dumbass idea. Worked when my first TV could only manage 13 channels.

So I guess then it's not so much a question of can it be stopped, because there is always a creative way around everything until we the point that the game sucks, but more of a question of do we (consensus) decide this is indeed cheating and stigmatize it as such. Not 100% effective as people cheat in spite of stigma.

Here's an idea, feel free to let me know if you guys think it would work or if it would turn people off the game. Why can't they change the game so the only way to get gold is by killing stuff, ie if you buy gold with real world cash the only way to get the gold is by killing the player selling? Sure the person selling can start over and gather more gold, but it means that each time he makes a sale, he has to be killed to give the gold away and until the person who bought the gold arranges to meet and kill the person they can't harvest anymore gold lest the buyer gets more gold than he paid for. It won't stop the trade but it will put a damper on it. Any counter, or suggestions?

I tend to agree, PC is the only game system to me. The only thing that concerns me when a new game comes out is when will it be out for PC. I find that sitting back in my comp chair, mouse in hand is much more comfortable than controller, hunched on the couch. I will never buy another console again. One other point, how can the PC die when so many people love them for more than just games, my penchant for upgrading borders on addiction. I love building systems and then tinkering/fucking around with them.

Perhaps people are learning from the past. I remember back in the day, I bought a Nintendo 64 the week it was released, what a mistake, there was very little to play on it. Maybe people remember paying an outrageous fortune and having little to play except Mario and Zelda (yes I am sure there are other titles soome might choose as well) and then I got to see the price drop for the console and then the games,(same principle applies to other consoles)all so I could play it first. Maybe playing it first isn't as important now, when most games also come out with PC versions as well, and until recently ie 360 PC versions had better graphics. This really comes back to release titles I guess.

On the issue of suspected throttling, some companies are saying they should be allowed. I don't know how it works for all companies, but, I pay for tiered service already, tiered service should be for bandwidth only, not content. I pay for extra bandwidth and I pay a lot for it. So far my internet provider has not tried to stop or limit voip, however they did call to offer me their more expensive voip, which coincidentaly offers less than what Vonage gives me. For now I will assume this is US issue as I don't know anyone here in Canada that is on voip and having bandwidth problems, except that Newfie on dialup that subscribed to vonage.

That's why when they removed the levy from mp3 players I finally bought one, and then switched to DVD backup, there is no levy from the music industry on blank dvds as of right now anyway. Uses less disks for backup. For those who may bring up car audio, my deck has a line in for other audio devices. In response to the other idea put forth about going state side, unless you are livving in a border town, it's not worth it, the savings just aren't there, the only thing accomplished by going stateside is sticking it to the Canadian music industry.

I guess when it comes down to it anyone can have a budget box if they build it themselves or find someone who will put it together for free. I also install the OS they bring me, no questions asked.

While in college we had to create a honeynet and monitor it for our final semester. Knowing that watching a linux honeynet would be boring as hell we decided to create a windows honeynet with all monitoring done using linux machines. Since we were students, hence poor, we used windows and then just didn't activate the installs, that gave us thirty days of authorized use before having to clean wipe and re-install. This was a perfect situation as being a windows honeynet, infection never took more than 30 days.

The idea of activation means no one will buy it if they can only activate it once. And banning stores from selling won't stop private sale.

I learned all I know about computer forensics in college. It was a three year intense course that covered the actual forensics, note taking (important for presenting evidence later on), securing a crime scene and items ie. computers etc from a crime scene, gather forensically sound evidence, protocols in court(not everyone knows proper court etiquette or protocol), criminology, law, and networking, intrusion prevention and detection, risk management and disaster planning and recovery, operating systems and systems architecture. I attended the first college in Canada to offer such a course, and the college did a lot of field consulting with industry and continually add and refine the program. If you happen to be Canadian (or not but interested in studying in Canada) check out http://www.flemingc.on.ca/Full-time/ProgramDisplay .cfm?ProgramCode=CSI for more information. This program really leads to some good jobs that pay well and this sort of work is never going to disappear.

Just a quick note on that, the way the system works is the machine opens a transaction totals your deposits and then archives the transaction into the database, prints a reciept with a barcode encoded to the archived transaction, you bring it to the cashier and the barcode is scanned, and the archived transaction is retrieved and then completed when you get your cash.
