  1. Odd.. on Walk of Game Winners Announced · · Score: 1

I would have put Suda 51 in the top 3. Killer 7 was not a great 'game', but a great experience. For all 8 people who played it on the GC, it was the best story driven title I've seen since Zelda, etc.

I enjoy the mentioned people's titles, but I'm far more looking forward to a new S51 game than theirs.

  2. Bleh. on 360 Costs Half As Much As PS3 By 2006? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Can we please have some news, as opposed to speculation? I own all three of the current gen systems. I was an early adopter (ouch) for all three, and each have had their ups and downs. I've had one PS2 and one XBox die on me. I try not to hold it against them. The fact of the matter is ITS ABOUT THE GODDAMN GAMES. If the PS3 came out in 2009 and cost 1200$, I might give it some serious thought if they had a (good) NaNa-OnSha game being released for it. If I knew there were remaking or making a new Steel Battalion game for the 360, I'd pick it up too. I know I'll be picking up a Revolution, for nothing more than being able to play SMB3 without getting the NES out of the closet. IMHO, the only people who care about articles like this are the fanboys, who just have another paper tiger to flame with on GameFAQS about how their magical system is going to utterly crush the competition. Please, focus on why we game, for fun.

  3. so wait. on Xbox360 Pricing, 2 Models at Launch · · Score: 1

  5. Bah. on Cheaters Under The Microscope · · Score: 2, Insightful

I used to spend a ridiculous amount of time playing Urban Terror , and frankly, some of the 'cheating' he mentions actually kept the game interesting.

I understand nobody wants to play against wallhackers and aimbots, but what is wrong with using avatar pyramids to gain access to higher levels? If the devs didn't want people to get there, why the heck did they leave it as a solid surface?

    Good sentiment, bad execution.

    first off:

I AM NOT AN ACADEMIC. I DO NOT CLAIM TO BE.

now, i'm just an average 25 year old geek. i work for the DoD for a living, writing GIST documentation. i am lucky enough to make a very good salary for my age, but i'm not near breaking 6 digits by any means.

from my experience, NOBODY is going to look out for you (as an adult) except yourself. if you're lucky enough to have family/friends/etc that have the extra time/money/caring, feel lucky. a lot of people don't.

to extend that, NOBODY in the government is looking out for you. by NOBODY, i mean just that. every program to support the "poor" is usually a shell, or at best a program to keep the lefties smiling like a 3rd grader with a gold star.

while many people will disagree with my personal finding that only you are looking out for yourself, at least the Libertarian party is quite up front about stating this fact. i think most people would really start taking a better stock of their life if forced to realize this reality. mommy and daddy aren't going to be around forever, which a lot of other gen-x'ers i know seem to think.

rather than trying to go into a 90000k rant and sound like the normal human with limited time to research politics and philosophy i am, just think of it from this perspective. i think a lot of people would start to align themselves better politically if they did.

ps. - Mr. Badnarik, i've never bothered to vote since turning 18. i applaud you, as i'm going out first thing tomorrow after work to register. i doubt you'll live up to 1% of my expectations, but at least now i have something politically i can believe in.

bleh. i did CF development for 6 years before moving into IT security. CF is still quite qidely used in the private (bank of america, etc) and is extensively used in public sector shops. the majority of DoS and many DoD sites use it (and they port it to linux, so pbbt.) don't confuse their questionable products like flash and shockwave with a really solid, open standard web application language.
